Bye, bye, 2016....

I see so many people writing like... wrap ups of 2016, but I don't know really what would be the best part of my year. Of course, I'm saddened about all the losses of great legends this year. Just like every one else. But what about me?

Well, the worst part was definitely breaking my leg AGAIN!!! And feeling absolutely useless towards [profile] peting73 and feeling like I am abandoning my job. *sigh*

I guess the best part would be my job. I got it in December 2015 and I found out like... December 2016 that it was indeed permanent. It's been hinted at ever since I got it that my predecessor would NOT be coming back, but now it's a definite thing. That library is mine now. Officially.

And my boss is fucking awesome, so I'm really happy about that to.

My kid, well... She keps surprising me every day. From 3½ to 4½... A lot has happened with her development wise and she's a "big kid" now. :-) <3

So personally, 2016 didn't suck. But legend wise? It sucked ass.

But such is life. I'll quote my grandfather when he told the story of his birth, death is just part of life.

He's right. It is. So I mourn. But I live life still.

It happened...

I logged in here. Again. Geezes... It's been ages.

Well, maybe not ages, but damn girl. I've never not written anything here for this long. (Weird sentance is weird.)

And as I sit here writing I can feel how good it feels.

Note right away: I will NOT read up on anything I have missed! If you feel I need to know something, tell me!
And I've cleaned out my friends list some more, because man oh man... If I can't remember who you were or why I friended you, I'm sorry... You're still free to stay if you wish.

Anyway.

I broke my leg. Again. The same leg I broke two years ago. But not at the same place. But at two (!) other places. FML. :-/

So that was fun. Not. And just when I'd really gotten into my job to. Like, I knew what I was doing, I had plans, I kept busy all day, the teachers liked me, the kids liked me, even the hooligans at that school liked me (even if they didn't respect me at all times). And now I'm on sick leave for 3 months and have to work up all those relationships again. Blah.

I also had an infection in my leg that did not feel very good, no. :-/ It felt like the leg was going to burst, basically. But at least I've had antibiotics for that and it's gone now. Took my stitches from the surgery out today and the nurses that did so did show some concern over the colour on my leg though, so I'll go in for another checkup just to be sure. I hope it's nothing. I don't want to be on more sick leave than I have to.

Reason I miss my job is that I really feel like I'm doing something good there. Like I belong in that troubled school and with those kids. A school library might not be able to do much, but it can do SOMETHING. And me not exactly being the normal librarian, I guess that is in my favor to. Hell, I've even had fanfic classes! X-D

So now I'm bored at home, so I figured in between playing World of Warcraft, roleplaying, Instagram, Twitter, Plurk and following my favorite YouTube channels, I could start post again. Why not? It usually clears my head putting down my life in words, so it's mostly for me. I am just opening up my mind to anyone else to see to. :-)

Fevercramps...

This weekend I tell you. This freaking weekend... Geezes...

It started good enough. Stayed up late Friday and slept in on Saturday. Was lovely. Then we went shopping Alexandra and I. And once home I started preparing for the LARP that night, what with packing props and clothes and makeup and stuff. While I did that [livejournal.com profile] peting73 made dinner which we then ate. Alexandra had a soda, so she had that for dessert. Then I left to go to the LARP.

Normal LARP-Saturday. Nothing strange really.

Then I got a text from [livejournal.com profile] peting73 that Alexandra had thrown up, but she was fine and they'd dealt with it and she was now sleeping. His guess and mine to, was that she'd had to much soda. It has happened before.

Like 30 mins later I get a frantic call from him that Alexandra had violent cramps was burning up and he'd called emergency.

CUE PANIC!

So I got rid of the prosthic ears, weird contacts and props I had on, packed my stuff in record speed, grately helped by my sweet young LARP-friends, and rushed to the hospital. We got there about the same time, and man...

She was SO OUT OF IT. Geezes... I did not recognize my daughter. As soon as we moved her around (sometimes she wanted dad sometimes she wanted mom) there were jerks and spasms running through her little body and she saw things not there and she couldn't relax her spine, couldn't breath properly since her airways had cramped to and it was just... horrifying. My little girl...

The staff at the emergency room was WONDERFUL though! I have to say. So wonderful. We were soon moved to the kids emergency room and then got a room to sleep in, since they wanted to have her stay over night for observation. Which we did.

She'd started to cramp around 1:30am, and at 4am she was considerably better, not that much of them cramps and spasms anymore. I stayed with her at the hospital and she feel fast asleep, as did I as soon as I could see she was relaxed and breathing normally.

Slept until 8am when they checked on her and we got breakfast. They tested her some more and gave her meds since she still had a high fever, we called [livejournal.com profile] peting73 so he came to join us. But it was declining since she responded well to the meds. The doctor checked on her, and since Alexandra was back to her normal self, we got sent home.

After about 1 hour home, her fever rose again and fast. No cramps but she was not responding to the liquid fever killing med we have at home. She had refused food all day, still she threw up a few times. Not fun. Got the advice to her the kind of medication you take through your rectum. I have no idea what that is called in english, but it's the same meds, you just take it differently and it's good for little kids since they throw so eaisly and then lose the effect of whatever meds you take liquid.

So I ran off to buy that and fix food for me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73.

It took a bit for the meds to have an affect ("I don't want meds through the bum, mommy!"), but when it did, it really did. She was tired, but definitly back to her self again and the fever FINALLY went down to more normal levels.

She is sleeping calmly now, breathing good and is not even closely as hot as she was eariler today.

SUCH a relief! But man... Fuck. That was not a fun weekend. *sigh*

PS. Did I mention I've lost my voice as well???

Friendscut, Easter, work, LARP.....

So... I decided to cut a bit more in my flist. I'M SO SORRY! I thought I'd be able to keep up the way it was, but... apparently not. I really really hope this was enough of a cut so I can keep up now. Since I kinda don't want to cut more. To those I had to let go, it's been GREAT knowing you!

Anyone is OF COURSE free to cut me from their f-list as well. I don't mind at all. :-)

And now onwards to something totally different.

Easter was great, it really was. We went to my mothers and spent the night and got spoiled. As per usual. :-) Mom's gentleman caller was there to. They spend as much time as they can together. He is really nice, with a great sense of humor and makes my mom very very happy, so I am happy for her.

I did do one stupid thing though. My sensitivity against cats BLEW UP! Because I forgot to eat my meds. :-P You're supposed to eat them a few days before exposure to whatever it is you are allergic or sensitive against, and... I didn't. Stupid. *face-palm* I have no problem with our cats, but moms? Yeah, problem. And I can't help but cuddle with them, because they are GORGEOUS! And LOVES being cuddled. And totally spoiled. :-)

Plus I got to meet my wonderful, wonderful little brother that I love so dearly! And his kids! BONUS! :-D

So we had a great time!

Only sad thing was that when I talked about my job, which I am sorta proud of managing the chaos and I do very much care about the kids... I found out that mom's gentleman caller was somewhat racist. :-/ Fuck. As soon as he found out the amount of refugees it's in the area I work and sorta how many refugee kids there is at the school I work at... The previously relaxed happy talk turned... less so. Geezes. So disappointed. And he clearly hadn't read up, because he didn't need to, according to him. 'That kind of people are always like that.' *head-desk* UGH! So I just stopped him right there and said I would NOT discuss this until he'd read up on shit and knew what the hell he talked about. 'The Koran tells them to kill and harm.' Seriously? BULLSHIT! Open the damn book before you speak! I am so not talking about my job near you ever again.

Anyway, so apart from that, I had a good time. And Alexandra to, which was wonderful. As always though, she hardly ate anything. And then we came home Monday afternoon and she ate to much and to fast and... threw up all over herself at bedtime. *SIGH* So I had to stay home from work one day so she could recover from that.

The three days I did work has... been both lazy and batshit stressful at the same time. Yeah, I don't even know. And there hasn't been any kids in the library either, or the entire school! I got emails about meetings left and right and... Then noticed that on Wednesday and Thursday next week I'm supposed to be at two or three places at the same damn time. WTF??? I had to ask my boss what to give priority to. *shakes head*

Thank heavens it's the weekend now. And this will be a good weekend, I just KNOW it!

Tomorrow I get to sleep how long I want. SO RARE! SO NICE! OMG! I LOVE MY SLEEP INS! And then tomorrow night it's LARP-night. And I'll play my mentally idiotic but physically extremely strong Gangrel vampire... Let's see how much trouble I can get her in this time? X-D I've played her for nearly 4-5 years now, and she's a riot to play. She really is. It has ended up a bit of a sport for me to see how much shit I can get her in and if I can even get her out in one piece. X-D So far so good. She's still alive (sorta) and kicking. ;-)

I also thought the post apocalyptic Fallout LARP last summer would be the last one in that world/setting, but I found out a few weeks ago that there would be a new one this year. Since the city was NOT going to destroy the lovely military training area were it's been held, but instead restore it somewhat and clean up all the shit in the area. AWESOME! Means there will be A LOT of LARP's and soft airgun games and paint ball games and other sorts of nerdy activities there... And the city gets paid a nice rent every time anyone wants to borrow the area. ;-) Win-win for everyone! It really is a perfect place for a post apocalyptic LARP!

And in a couple of weeks there'll be a special vampire-LARP to! Set in the same world we normally play in, but the medieval ages. [livejournal.com profile] peting73 didn't want to go, so told me to. :-D YAY! Gonna be fun!

My weekend...

... was quite good. Apart from one mayor stupid mishap that I did today... I'll get to it.

Saturday we spent with [livejournal.com profile] peting73's cousin. What with his mom and aunt being really close, they more or less grew up together since neither have any siblings, so whenever we hang out she grows all excited and is loving on her older cousin. She has a small mental handicap and lives in a special apartment where she has access to staff 24/7. It's a great great place, quite new and I have great envy of her wallpaper (no joke!). She ADORES Alexandra so it was a great great time going there to visit and celebrate her birthday. :-D She lives really close to. We can see the house from our kitchen-window. :-)

Evening was spent eating holy unhealthy US food and watching Game of Thrones (as I've mentioned) and just hanging out on the internet while hubby was at the LARP.... I can not believe I'm actually caught up with my f-list. Actually a bit impressed by self. :-)

Today though was when I did the stupid... Usually I drink between 2-3 traveling mugs of tea... Today I didn't. I hung out with Alexandra while hubby slept, just being lazy in the couch. And then when he woke up, we decided one of us go outside with kiddo and the other cleaning the floors and vacuuming the place. Alexandra wanted to go out with me, so that was what happened. Cue no tea. She had a bit of a temper tantrum to when I told her she had to bring her own toys back inside when we were done playing. Not popular.

And during all of this a massive headache started to grow. And it stuck with me during dinner, during cuddles with Alexandra, during finishing the cleanup of the apartment and during me going grocery shopping... It does not a happy KSena make. :-P It didn't disappear until I had some tea after Alexandra had gone to bed.

So in other words it's official, something I never thought would happen... I'm addicted to tea. Oops? Will not make that mistake again, let me tell you.

My busy summer! Wedding between Silvestris and Chigrima!

So... Last stop on my busy summer story... If that is even a word.

And before this event, I had started work. And dude. STRESSFUL!!! I'll get to that shortly, but important to know is that I was stressed out as hell. Don't think I've ever been this stressed out.

Anyway, so with that in mind... of course the giftcard I'd ordered from IKEA (which the brides wanted), was late. Very stressful. And I just about managed to get time off to go to the wedding. More stressful.

In other words, it didn't look like I'd end up enjoying my trip. Luckily, that was wrong. I had a LOVELY time!

The two brides are my long time friends [livejournal.com profile] silvestris and [livejournal.com profile] chigrima. None of them very active on LJ anymore, but it's their fault I have one! It all started here and on [livejournal.com profile] silvestris's website! She's an amazing artist, and that's why they hung out online talking. :-)

And, not to forget, [livejournal.com profile] chigrima and I wrote our masters thesis together.

I swear, I would never have managed to get a masters degree if it wasn't for her. And I told her as much in the speech I held. [livejournal.com profile] chigrima is the most academic person I know. For serious. (Her brother and sister agreed with me on that, as it turned out, since they pointed it out in their speeches to! X-D)

But I'm getting ahead of myself. :-)

My wonderful wonderful best friend [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit was also invited. And since she lives quite close by, we borrowed mom's BIG car (a Volvo V70, they're huge) and took the ferry over to the island Gotland where [livejournal.com profile] silvestris and [livejournal.com profile] chigrima lives. Unfortunately that meant we had to leave Borås at 5am in the morning, so I got up at 4am... Less fun, but we managed.

There's one bigger city on Gotland only, Visby. Where the big Medieval Week is heald in beginning of August every year. Me and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit has spent so much time there, so as soon as we got of the ferry and I saw the great stone wall of Visby, I squeed and all the stress just flowed off of me.

As soon as we found our hotel, which was really close to where we got off the ferry, me and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit wanted to explore Visby and remember all the good times we've had. Poor [livejournal.com profile] peting73 didn't have much choice but to come with. Alexandra was going in her pram, and was quite content with watching all the strange things going on around her. She was mostly pleased with the sheep shaped jersey barriers. Gotland is famous for all their sheep, so I would guess that's why they’re sheep shaped. *grin*

So Friday was spent shopping and exploring Visby and having a really good time. Alexandra was quite well behaved, even when at the restaurant we found to have dinner at. Not the best one, but hey... they had meatballs and so the kid was happy. *lol*

Next day when we'd woken up in our rooms after sleeping for 10 hours (!). Our room was HUGE by the way! One bedroom, one kitchen/seating room with a kitchenette and one small bedroom for Alexandra... So perfect for us! Such a great hotel! Almedalen Hotel, if you're interested. ;-)

So next day, Saturday... and the day for the wedding... we first made our way to the church ruin where they were getting married to see how long it would take for us to walk there. And to find the way. Then we explored some more. Gotland might be a flat island, but Visby REALLY is not. *lol* So many steep streets and narrow alleys with medieval cobblestones... You need good shoes in that city!

We found a nicer restaurant and Alexandra promptly started "flirting" with one of the waiters, who totally played back with her! Was hilarious! And so cute! He was a great guy, and got a good tip! Food was GREAT to!

Alexandra also found a softie sheep and promptly wanted it, so a sheep she got. *grins*

Then we went back to the hotel and got all snazzy looking and stuff. :-) [livejournal.com profile] peting73 went the whole nine yards and even styled his beard and mustache. SO HANDSOME!!!! Me and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit had bought our dresses from Modcloth, and they looked quite nice, if I do say so myself. :-)

Then we made our way to the church ruin again where friends and family of the brides had gathered.

We got let in, and got a little wedding program from the brother of one of the brides, one each, and then we found a seat in the church. About in the middle or so, so we could still see quite well. I lifted Alexandra up so she could stand on the bench to see better.

And when the brides walked down the isles, Alexandra got all excited. “Princess, mommy! Princesses!” X-D Yeah, so… They are now and forever Alexandra’s princesses. *lol*

The wedding ceremony was great! Short and beautiful. The brides had written their own wedding vows and walked out to my all time favorite song: Bette Midler’s The Rose. There was a lot of happy tears among the guests, let me tell you!

After the wedding we got invited to a walk through beautiful Visby and listen to the long and colourful history of the city. Well, parts of said history anyway. Until we ended up at Fenomenalen, a science center for kids of all ages. Very old. Or very young. ;-)

Before we got seated, the families had arranged for a little competition among all the stuff in the science center, before we got a chance for food. *lol* Was a lot of fun! Kids and adults working together!

The dinner and everything was served on the second floor of the science center, which was…. somewhat crowded to put it mildly. Which made sure it ended up very VERY hot up there! Us and another family with slightly older kids (like my brothers, I’d say) ended up closest to the stairs down to the toys. Apparently we were all LARPers, and all though that family was friendly and all, I just got the… to-much-feeling from the mother. She was so chipper, giggly and overly supportive of her daughters, I had to take a step back and wonder what she was on…

Apart from that, we sure had a great time! Alexandra kept it up until 9pm, which was very impressive! She’s just 3 years old, and the trip and the wedding was a huge adventure for her. She was doing great!

When the brides left it was only 11pm, so me and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit decided to go for a drink. [livejournal.com profile] astroflammante, [livejournal.com profile] skarvsladden (and husband) and [livejournal.com profile] tekiila who were there for the wedding to, decided to join in. So we went to a really nice little pub and nightclub in Visby, The Munkcellar. We had a GREAT time talking about [livejournal.com profile] chigrima and discussing the wedding. And, of course, the good old days at the Student Union pub where I meet these awesome ladies.

After that me and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit our back to the hotel and our rooms. Collapsed and slept so DEEPLY! And, at least me, very very happy for the beautiful brides. :-)

Sunday we had more of the great breakfast, after Alexandra woke up. She slept until about 9am, which was GREAT! Then breakfast and… you guessed it… more shopping and exploration of Visby. *lol*

Most of the shopping we did was at Kränku. A tea/coffee/and random stuff associated with the same -store. *lol* Family owned! They mix their own flavours of tea there, which is AWESOME! SO MUCH YUMMY STUFF!

We bought [livejournal.com profile] peting73 some kick ass whiskey coffee! (So expensive!) And a gift for MIL since she’s taken care of our cats while we’ve been gone. A nice metal box to keep coffee in. And Kränku’s special roasted coffee. :-D

Once it was time, we gathered us all in the car (with all the packing!). Drove [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit to one ferry terminal, since she took the ferry towards Stockholm to meet up her parents there. We? We took the ferry back to Oskarshamn and then drove for four hours back here to Borås. We arrived somewhere between 11pm and midnight. Alexandra slept the whole way. Was perfect.

The whole trip went so much better than I thought. And I had SUCH a great time!

And, of course, I am RIDICULOUSLY HAPPY for [livejournal.com profile] silvestris and [livejournal.com profile] chigrima!!!!

Midsummer happiness!

Midsummer… I actually had a good midsummer this year, believe it or not.

[livejournal.com profile] peting73 went to his friend like he does every Midsummer. And wanted to do this year to. I wasn’t so very interested after the disaster last year, put it that way…

Plan was to go to my aunts, since she always has that HUGE midsummer party every year where pretty much my whole crazy extended family meet up. So they did this year as well. :-)

At first it was said that [livejournal.com profile] peting73 was gonna take moms car there and just go, but since mom had just done a plastic surgery to get rid of excess skin on her stomach, we had to pick up mom’s car at my brothers. No problems. :-) We did, so when [livejournal.com profile] peting73 felt it was time to go, me and Alexandra waved him goodbye and enjoyed ourself at said party. We had A LOT of fun and stuffed ourselves with the awesome food my aunt always cooks for said party. Cooks and bakes, I might add. :-D And there's a lot of games, and it's just... such an awesome party! But the best part was that I got to hang around my beloved extended family.

It was weird going home to moms after that though, since mom wasn't there. Alexandra was exhausted, so it wasn't hard to get her to sleep. Once she was, I borrowed mom's computer a bit before going to sleep to.

Mom came home the day after. Me and Alexandra had just spent the day exploring moms yard and saying hello to the neighbours hens and rooster. We also had time to go check out the traditional midsummer celebrations in the little town, which are run by the folklore dancing group I was once part of. So it was fun to let Alexandra experience that. Which she liked. And to see my old friends again which I haven't meet for years. It had been raining on and off all day, and after we'd had a horse and carriage ride, we got caught in a heavy downpour so we got somewhat wet.

That's what meet mom when she got home. We'd just gotten back to moms house and Alexandra had good clothes on, so she was fine. I was soaked through. :-P Seeing mom was great! The surgery had gone wonderfully, and she was doing awesomely despite having had her surgery just the day before. Aunt was driving her and she had my cousins as company, so we had an impromptu midsummer mini-celebration, since mom wanted that. She was a bit bummed about missing aunt's huge midsummer celebration the day before. She's never done that.

We had a lot of fun, aunt even got somewhat drunk which is always hilarious. I think I laughed so much my cheeks hurt once Alexandra got put to bed. Mom and I shared the bed and Alexandra slept in the guest bed mom has bought for all her grandchildren to use.

Next day me and mom and Alexandra just hung out and relaxed. It was, in a word, just what I needed. :-D Bliss. Calm. Nice. And I got to fuss over mom, to the point she told me I was being silly. X-D

[livejournal.com profile] peting73 was supposed to be back in the late afternoon but since his friend figured he could get some help from [livejournal.com profile] peting73 and asked it a bit late, he didn't get back until around midnight/1am somewhere. We chatted a bit, got a bit caught up with each other. I found out that despite that, he'd had a good time meeting his friend even though he agreed with me his friend needed to skip the grandeur since he still clings to the good old days of the student union pub and the Sexmasters and how cool he was then to everyone... *sigh*

Still, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 had a good time. I had a good time. Alexandra had a good time. And mom did to, getting to hang out with her grand-daughter. I think this was a win-win situation for everyone and it will probably be a re-run celebrating Midsummer like this next year to. :-)

I survived! And it, literary... ROCKED!

Sweden Rock Festival is one HELL of a festival! And, as I learned, is perfect for a festival-beginner like myself. :-) Since the average age at the festival was... 37. So there were a lot of older people there. And families. I saw a lot of prams and young kids. They have this rule that you can't bring kids under the age of 3. And if you have kids with you between the age 3-13, they HAVE to have hearing protection (big bulky kind), or they won't be let into the festival grounds. Good rules! :-)

All this meant it was a very friendly and happy atmosphere at the festival. No fights, no angry drunks. Just happy silly drunks everywhere. I saw the guards lead ONE visitor out while I was there, since he was so drunk he was almost unconscious. ONE! And there were around 33'000 to 34'000 people there. That should tell you something. :-)

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's start from the beginning, sorta. :-)

I figured getting up early and taking a shower BEFORE going was a great idea. ;-) So I did that, and then woke up Alexandra so she got to daycare at perfect time before breakfast there. She's not a breakfast eating kid, but she eats better at daycare in the morning, so it's all good. :-) She was a happy kid, and I talked to her both during Thursday evening and in the morning that mom is going on a short trip and it's just her and daddy and mom is coming home tomorrow... She seemed to get it, and said OK and daddy picking up and all that, so she was a happy kid Friday morning. :-)

Then home, some makeup on and then the BIG backpack I had packed the night before. Reason it was heavy as fuck and big as well, was I had a tent in it. And an old air mattress. Yeah, that weighed a ton. Even if it is a lightweight tent.

I had a scare at the beginning of my trip though. I went by cab to the train station, because I'm lazy like that with a heavy backpack and such. Plenty of time and everything. First track was to go to Gothenburg with a bus and then catch a train to Lund from there, and then onwards to Sölvesborg where the festival is. BUT! Of course the bus was late. To the point I was sitting there on the bus and thinking, I will miss my connecting train... And I almost did. The bus-driver was a saint though and stopped at a red light next to the trains at the train station, so I could jump out and RUSH (with heavy bag, mind) to the train... I think I had LESS than a minute to spare... o.O

But I made it and ended up sitting on that train with some LOVELY people that I talked to for that entire trip. Made sure the time flew. :-) The rest of the trip was uneventful. No problems at all. Had lunch (with a glas of wine) in Lund while waiting and then last track to Sölvesborg.

Once in Sölvesborg things got interesting. Saw a few cabs, and lazy me I wanted a cab to the campsite, Rosenlunds Camping. It's the calmer of the campsites around the festival area. Hence I booked my night there. :-) I would not want my tent to be run over or something... *lol*

Anyway, it's a rock-festival. I didn't expect it to be quite or anything. So I got there, found a spot that looked moderately calm. Next to the road, but I didn't mind that. Some music-nerds as neighbors on one end. And some older dudes on the other. Once I had put up the tent (which was very easy) my last neighbors showed. A bunch of rowdy 20 somethings... Crap, I thought to myself. So much for my beauty sleep after the concerts...

And the first thing they ask is if I wanted to see a real cock. *raises eyebrow* I calmly told him I'd seen plenty of those and was sure his wasn't that interesting nor very big. He pulled it out and sure enough, it was tiny, which I told him. I calmly asked him how old he was, and he drunkenly proudly boasted he was born 1982. Little boy with your little dick... You're younger than my little brother, I informed him. I swear he made a squeaking sound when he promptly put his dick away and to the laughter of his mates, went to get another beer. X-D

Man, I love my mother who taught me how to handle things like that. And I find it hilariously FUN to do that to! X-D

I was still worried they'd be noisy during the night though.

Once the tent was up and I was pleased with my camp, I went to buy some drinks and get some cash, wish you could withdraw right there at the campsite. For a fee. MAN! You had to pay a fee for EVERYTHING! So I made sure I had plenty cash for food and drinks, and then I followed the stream of people towards the festival.

Wasn't hard to find, the closer you got the more tents that sold food, drinks and just STUFF there was around the place. I found the entrance, but you couldn't get your festival-bracelet there. And everyone I asked gave me different directions to where to get said bracelet which had me go to the wrong place first. Not very fun. But eventually I found my way, could get my bracelet and got in. :-)

And it was amazing. :-D First music I was drawn to was a older band, which I later found out was called Dokken. So I stopped at that stage for a bit listening to them. They were really good! Then I got hungry and man... There was SO MUCH FOOD you could buy everywhere! So I found a place selling moose kebab (no joke!) and got some energy. Then I went to buy a Mötley Crüe t-shirt, since I didn't want to miss that. And good thing I did. It was still early, around 5pm, and they'd already sold out almost. So I got one of the last ones in XL. o.O And I got a Sweden Rock t-shirt to! Of course. ;-)

Securing the t-shirt to my bag, I started walking around some more. Looking at people. Having a drink of cider. Looking at more people. Eating more food. Listening to music. Ended up in a tent at one point where these moderately young guys played heavier rock dressed in fantasy-clothing... Got me curious and they were funny when talking between songs to. Later figured they were called Gloryhammer. They were not bad, but not quite my taste in rock.

I then just walked around, enjoying the festival atmosphere. I got stuck drinking, sitting on the grass and enjoying a cider after that for a bit. And listened to a band that was... really boring and... odd, if you ask me. They were called Opeth, and I don't even know why I stayed at that spot listening to them for a while, but I guess I was comfortable.

I'd found a place that sold really good toasts with a swedish cheese called Västerbotten cheese and chanterelles. And OH MY GAWD! It was sooo good, I had to go back several times.

At one point when waiting in line for a toast (it was constantly a long line there), there was this little kid there going ALL IN playing the air guitar with an inflatable guitar at a booth next to the toast-place. They were playing Mötley Crüe (!) in that booth, so he rocked out and HARD to the music! To the point of a guy joining him. Kid rocking out might be... 11 or 12 maybe? And the guy joining him on his own inflatable guitar somewhere around 25. And they pulled off quite the show! To the point of gathering a crowd that cheered for them and all that! So that was fun!

And when I was waiting for a toast (again!) I had these fun older guys behind me laughing and having fun, saying they'd eaten food at the festival that were better than orgasms... and lasted longer to! Since they were so cheerful, I just couldn't keep my mouth shut, and said I agreed! Orgasms usually don't last very long! It ended up with me and them four older guys having a HILARIOUS discussion about orgasms and growers and showers. X-D The younger of the four (probably just slightly older than [livejournal.com profile] peting73) said I was his future wife since I was that cool. I had to decline though, since I am already taken! Was SO MUCH FUN!

I made plenty travels to the portable toilets during the day, and that was an experience in and off itself. Because they had one big area with just portable toilets. *lol* Well run and all, but damn. That was a lot of portable toilets! X-D

I made sure to have a drink in my bag and fresh from the portable toilets, I went looking at Backyard Babies, which are REALLY good! I really really like them! Such entertainers!

I kept to the back a bit in the audience though during their concert, because right after them the main event of the evening was to take place. So some time before their concert ended I made my way towards the main stage at the area. And, since I was alone… I made my way all up to the front of the stage!!! OH MY GAWD!!! I very very rarely go to concerts. And I’ve NEVER been that close to the stage before! Cue me nervous!

Anyway, it was still quite long a wait, so I talked a bit to an older couple that was next to me. And last they’d seen Mötley Crüe they’d been 16 and newly in love! SOOO COOL! But not so strange. Mötley Crüe has kept it up for more than 30 years. Had a good time talking to them, although the man in the couple was… VERY drunk. Which apparently amused his wife. Good thing I had someone to talk to, because we had to wait long. But the crowd just kept growing. And grew HUGE behind me!

I think not all, but most of the 33’000 - 34’000 festival goers were there. It was incredible.

Once Mötley Crüe entered the stage, I first wondered if I had to regert going to see them, since it took a bit for them to get the audience going. But once they did, oh my… What a feeling! I sang along to most of the songs and reached out for them when they got close to the stage! The sea of people moved, so even though I’d started at Mick Mars side of the stage, I ended up at the middle having the midstage in front of me after a while.

Vince Neil had problems with his earpiece and microphone at the beginning of the concert, and sadly they gave up so he had to go change, in the middle of Dr Feelgood, one of my absolute favorite songs. :-( So that was sad. Gladly though they did many other classics, like Kickstart My Heart, Smoking in the boys room, Livewire, Girls girls girls, Looks that kill, Wild Side… I could go on. :-) What made me happy was that they had a few from their latest album, Saints of Los Angeles and Mutherfucker of the year. I really like that album, so that made me happy. :-) And they had one encore, Home Sweet Home. Oh my gawd, the WHOLE audince sang along then, it was one hell of a moment.

And yeah, most of the audience sang along to all the songs. I did to, when I knew the lyrics. *lol* What annoyed me though, was that I had a gang to the left of me that kept complaining about the concert. Throughout the concert. While standing in the front. WTH? If you are going to complain, you don’t like the band… WHY would you be in the front, uhu? To destroy for us that WANT to be there? Makes no sense to me.

During the concert, although I have a HUGE soft heart for Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee, I was mostly impressed by Mick Mars. I mean, I know he has struggled with his disease, Ankylosing spondylitis his entire careerer. But to actually SEE it! See how seriously destroyed his body is from his disease. But how very quick and clever he is playing the guitar and that he still loves to be on stage... That impressed the hell out of me. Rock on, old mutherfucker. Rock the fuck on!

Anyway, I loved being able to see them. I had fun. It rocked. The whole crowd moved with the music… It was incredible. And I’ll definitely remember it fondly. (Can you say that about a rock-concert? *lol*)

After Mötley Crüe had left the stage, it took a bit for the crowd to open up, but when it did I started to make my way to the exit. There were still bands playing, but I was exhausted, so I started making my way back to the camping ground.

It is quite a long walk, 800 meters, and my feet were VERY tired even though I had my good BIG Docs on. So it took a while since I walked slowly. Was easy though, there was this literary stream of people to just follow. On my way, I felt a nagging need for something sweet, so I found a booth that sold belgium waffles. And HOLY HELL! o.O They were GOOD! SO nice! I need to learn to make these… So I nibbled on that while walking.

Once at the camping ground, I got my toothbrush, then stood in line for bathroom and took care of all that.

Back around the tent however it was… silent. Except for the road, but not many cars there either. To my SHOCK the crazy ass 20-somethings that I thought were going to be loud and noisy all night… were knocked out apparently. X-D Only ones awake were the old guys who bid me a good night when I crawled in my tent. Kids these days… *lol*

After a bit of a fight I got myself in my sleeping bag and I was KNOCKED OUT! Next morning I fought my sleeping bag again. (I sleep VERY well in it, but I have to fight the zipper every time!)

Once ready I got out of the tent and located breakfast, taking a seat with some other guys (who had driven 12 hours to get there!) and talked to them while eating.

Back at the tent, I packed up cheerfully cheered on by the older guys, who after that offered me breakfast. AKA moonshine and Coca Cola. X-D I’ve had moonshine before, many times. And this was the GOOD kind. Looked like water and I could barely smell it at all.

So I had a drink with them, and they were really nice. Mötley Crüe fans as well, so we talked about them. And they were impressed I’d gone there alone. I told them about the greeting I’d gotten from the 20-something guys with the cock. Which had them laugh merrily and then I ended up in ANOTHER dick-discussion! MY GAWD! X-D It was all in good fun though, and some serious to since we talked about illnesses you can get in your dick if you're a guy. :-D They were REALLY sweet older guys, two friends that had visited Sweden Rock for years. Had I stayed another night, I would have loved hanging out with them and just talking. :-) They were really nice.

Once packed up, I made my way to the entrance and tried calling for a cab, but had no connection so I found a staff member who helped me call for a cab. My feet were so achy so there was no way in hell I was walking to the buss-stop at the festival entrance 800 meters away.

The rest of the journey home was uneventful. Trains that was on time and everything, so I had no problems. I didn’t have any fun company like I did on the way there, bu they… That’s what I had my smartphone for and my magazines that I’d bought for. ;-)

[livejournal.com profile] peting73 and Alexandra was both very happy to see me when I got home (a cab from the trainstation as well… hey, I’m old and my feet were achy).

All in all, going to Sweden Rock was one HELL of an experience! Seeing Mötley Crüe was wonderful! Slash was there playing this year, and if he comes back? I might consider going again. :-) It was such a great festival. Very friendly and happy an atmosphere and some seriously good music! :-D

If you wanna see the photos that turned out OK, you can go to my Instagram HERE. There’s a clip of Mick Mars playing on stage… and of the little kid rocking out with the inflatable guitar there to. ;-)

And now I’ll shut up. For now. ;-D

Freaking out a little...

I'm really going. I'm actually going....

*FLAIL!*

Tomorrow I'm leaving for Sweden Rock Festival! To watch Mötley Crüe live! I can't believe it's really going to happen tomorrow... o.O

Gotta get up early so I can catch a shower while [livejournal.com profile] peting73 is still here, in case Alexandra wakes up. Then cuddle with Alexandra and fix breakfast. And after that, I'll go drop her off at daycare, double check my bag, and go by buss to the train station.

And before you ask, Alexandra will be at home with [livejournal.com profile] peting73. He is very fine with me going, he keeps telling me when I start mumbling about being a bad mom. And they have made plans with MIL to have an outing with her, so she'll be fine to.

So after dropping Alexandra off and getting down to the train station, it's a trip five hours by train. Two stops on the way, so hence it's 5 hours in total. After that, get to the camping ground, pay my camping spot, get my wee little tent up and get my ass to the festival area.

I'll miss the first few bands playing, but that's fine with me. It's Mötley Crüe that I'm mostly interested in. And they won't start playing until 10:30pm. :-) So I think I'm good.

Although I am nervous as all hell! I also look forward to this. Work has been RIDING ME HARD this week, so a break from anything like that will be BLISS! I've never been to a festival like this, which amuses my young LARP-friends who keep going to festivals. They think I am kind of old at 38 to be doing my first festival. Hell, I very very rarely watch music live at all, so this is a rarity for me. And I will make sure to make the most of it.

Chances are I'll spam my Instagram during this, so make sure you check in there if you want. ;-)

Mothers day...

It was Mothers Day in Sweden today. And I had a moderately good day. :-)

Sat up all night last night to finish off the post about [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni's visit, obviously. ;-) Which has been done for quite a while, but I hadn't added the photos for it. But it felt good to get it posted. :-)

Been very busy at work though. Last weeks of school before summer holidays, and things are INSANE when you're a school-librarian. Try be a school-librarian when you're responsible for 6 schools(!)... And things get a little insane. Same thing when school starts. It'll get insane then to. Fun times. Not. :-P If I could skip the last few weeks before summer holidays and the first few weeks after summer holidays, then working as a school-librarian would be bliss. :-P

Anyway...

My insane summer continues. [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni has been here to visit (which still blows my freaking mind, to be quite honest...) and on Friday I am going to see Mötley Crüe live in Sölvesborg on the Sweden Rock Festival. I'm 38 years old and I've never been to a music festival before, and now I'm going to one of the biggest festivals in Sweden... and I'll spend the night in a tent. Alone. X-D A very tiny tent, to be honest, so there's no room for more than me in it, but still. I MUST be nuts! X-D It'll be worth it though, since this will most likely be the last time ever that Mötley Crüe plays in Sweden what with splitting up after their world tour.

Sorry, Tokio Hotel. If you come to Sweden this year, I'll have to say no thanks. You're young. I'll go through hellfire to see you when you've played together for 30+ years. ;-)

Today we spent at the zoo, which you can see on my Instagram. Weather was... odd to say the least. At least it wasn't raining. :-P And we were all in a good mood. First time today that I managed to walk through the whole zoo without crutches. YAY!

It was after that that it became less fun. Of course [livejournal.com profile] peting73 was the one that wanted to go to the zoo the most... and in the end his back gave up on him and he didn't bring any painkillers... Because it was fine before we left. *sigh* Which ended with him being cranky as FUCK and almost impossible to talk to when we, out of necessity, had to do a quick stop for some grocery shopping on the way home. (Lunch for next week and such.) He'd promised me a delicious mushroom chantarelle risotto, but it takes time and is complicated to make, so I told him to just fuck it... which made him even crankier, so... That was less fun.

Once at home he took painkillers and just went to bed. A good thing, if you ask me. *grump* When he got up to make dinner though, and he did make me the risotto, he was in a MUCH better mood. Because well, painkillers. Which he should have taken way earlier... *sigh* I'm seriously considering having some of his painkillers in my bag as well. For my own peace of mind. :-P

So the day ended well at least. :-) Tomorrow it's back to the grind at work. OH! And I was offered to work full time after summer. Of course I said YES! It'll be busy as FUCK! But I hope it'll be worth it. :-D Despite the problems at that library, I like workign there. Quite a great deal. Better than working in the school-libraries in town. :-)

Now bedtime!

My dear friend visiting me from New York!!!! (Image-heavy!)

Note: This post was written a few weeks ago, but I didn't get the photos uploaded until now...

And then there was the visit from New York. I still have a hard time believing they’ve really been here! o.O

I was a bit panicked before they came here, since I was supposed to work both days they were here, Friday and Saturday. Friday was no problem to take off, but the three hours for Saturday was a bit worse. Eventually we found someone that could help out, thank gawd… So I was off and available for both days! WOHOO!!

And I was SO NERVOUS! I mean, I’ve known [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni almost since I started to use my LJ, and man… that is a LONG TIME AGO! I didn’t remember how we’d meet, but Ruchi did, so she told me. :-) Apparently she’d ended up in an idiotic drama in a Xena community and I’d stood up for her and also gone to her LJ to say hi. Eventually we ended up friending each other and that’s how the story goes. I don’t remember this, but I’ll take her word for it. ;-)

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni is a vegetarian, so the Friday she and her best friend was to arrive, me and Alexandra started with a slow morning and then we went grocery shopping for vegetarian food. Once that was done, we went to the train station to pick them up.

See, they’d explored Sweden quite a bit before arriving to me. They’d been in Stockholm, the island Utö, Gothenburg and then me. For a history geek Stockholm is perfect. There are SO MANY museums there! You can learn quite a bit of swedish history in Stockholm alone.

Then they’d been to Utö which is a gorgeous island in Stockholms archipelago. And then they’d been to Gothenburg, which is the neighbouring city to Borås. So it was a short trip to Borås. And me. :-D

I was so nervous while we shopped me and Alexandra I had a belly ache. X-D Stupid, really. Like [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni says, we’ve known each other so crazy long we shouldn’t be nervous about meeting!

Alexandra thought it was fun to be at the train station and just wanted to go on the trains! Eventually they showed up though, and I gave [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni a great big hug. And it felt JUST RIGHT! Nerves just flew off of me.

And Alexandra started whining right away. Great… Figuring she was hungry we went home to my apartment first, where I cooked Alexandra food (definitely hungry at that point…) and [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni could explore my little home and I could get the groceries away. And we talked. Talked and talked and talked. Sara, [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni’s friend was very nice and waxed poetically about the swedish coffee!

We had a lovely time watching Disney Junior with Alexandra and making sure she got some food in her (and feeding Sara a swedish meatball).

Done with Disney and food, we went to the hotel where [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni and Sara were staying, and Alexandra fell asleep and took a nap. GOOD!

Then we figured we could go downtown for a FIKA! Which we did, even going to mine and Alexandra’s favorite fika-place. You think Alexandra behaved? Alas no. She was IN A CRANKY MOOD! And was going to make sure everyone knew about it.

Cranky Alexandra is cranky... )

I’d thought we’d go exploring the Textile Museum after our fika, but Alexandra was having none of it. At that point, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 was off from work and halfway home, so we went to pick him up and dumped Alexandra on him. (Sorry dear!)

Finally we could go to the Textile Museum, which was great! Even if we could only stay for a short time, since they were closing and all that, we still made the most of it. They have old clothes in a part of the museum that you can try on, which had [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni and Sara go a bit nuts! Pulling me into the crazy we had a bit of a dress up session. *lol* Was a lot of fun! The exhibit they had going of a famous swedish designer was nice to, so I’d call that a successful visit.

Being silly in the Textile Museum! )

I think it was on the way back to the car that we checked out the University Library which is right next to the museum. [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni loved it and wondered loudly why they didn’t have libraries this nice at the universities in New York? Uhu… I wouldn’t know. X-D I thought New York University was a good one? *lol* And hey, you got New York City Library which is out of this world if I’ve done my research right. ;-)

Interior of the University Library in town )

Then we went home to my home again for dinner, which [livejournal.com profile] peting73 had cooked and it was DELICIOUS! Such a nice vegetarian stew! Alexandra was cranky again though (sigh) so she got the leftover meatballs from lunch.

The rest of the afternoon evening was spent talking. Talking, talking, talking. Both me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 are some serious history nerds, movie nerds and book nerds, so the swedish part of those subjects were definitely covered. (I’m still amazed how little you learn in the US about WWI and WWII…) Alexandra eventually went to bed, and we made MUDCAKE! And had an evening FIKA! (You can never have too much fika…)

New Yorkers in my couch! )

At one point during our discussions we discovered it was 1am in the morning! O.o OOPS! So I drove [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni and Sara to the hotel making a plan for the morning.

And that concludes day 1!

Next morning we took a slow morning for Alexandra’s sake, but we still managed to head out at around 10am. First stop was the big city library where I used to work. Again, [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni waxed poetically about how nice it was. *lol* I loved seeing her walking around in the library among all the books. If ever there was a book nerd, it’s her. For serious. *grin*

Alexandra loves the library, so she was (for once!) in a good mood in the kid section checking out all the picture books. We found the book I bought for my brothers kids, the POP BOOK! X-D So I had a little story time there for Sara and [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni. It’s a kid book and kids LOVE to talk about pop! X-D

Exploring the city library and being booknerds of all sizes! )

After that visit we got in our little car and drove to my brothers. Which takes 1½ hours. And it’s a bit cramped in the car… But we made do, and we had some lovely discussions in the car to which made the car-ride feel shorter.

Once at my brothers, we found that he was enjoying the sun on the backside of his house, listening to music after he’d baked a cake. A MUDCAKE OF COURSE! This seems to be a running theme during their visit… I have to send them the recipe… *lol*

And as soon as [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni and Sarah saw the cows grazing on the fields around my brother’s house, they got all excited and got in the field (past the barbed wire) to say hi to the cows. My brother, who works on a farm on a daily basis was a bit flabbergasted at this, but went with it. So we showed them a good way to get to the cows and my brother started talking swedish farming with [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni and Sara since [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni is a vegetarian, so she was really interested. Swedish farmers have a TON of rules they have to follow, more so than many other countries apparently, which she found very interesting. :-)

Also, my brother had been an idiot and [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni went into Doc-mood and checked his eye since it was hurting him and got quite red and irritated. If you are doing any welding, people. Use protection. And don’t do like my brother who just closed his eyes. IDIOT!

After we’d eaten mudcake and said hi to cows and tried to get Alexandra to eat anything (impossible since she was still grumpy), we left my brothers and went to moms instead. My brother came with in his big huge car, a Ford Galaxy from the 1960’s, which [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni and Sara rode in with him. On the way to mom’s we saw some elks/moose which got the New Yorkers all excited.

New Yorkers on the swedish countryside! )

At mom’s, Alexandra perked up a bit. She’d had a nap in the car, and hey… Grandma is always popular. :-)

More vegetarian food at mom’s, she’d made a full on dinner with some vegetarian beefs she’d found. ‘It looked interesting, I had to try!’ was mom’s reasoning behind picking that. They were made out of quorn and DAMN they were tasty! Even Alexandra ate quite a bit! So we were all stuffed after that dinner!

After that we walked around and explored my mom’s yard and grounds. The garage which still looks like when my dad lived. The playhouse dad built for use when where kids from scratch. The view. The woods where we used to play. Our neighbours, closest one where the daughter in the house was the one who started off my bullying. Basically I told and showed all the things that had meant something to me when I grew up. Mom walked around with us as well, and even though she’s not that good in english (she understands it well, but can’t speak it), she managed to throw in a small comment here and there anyway.

Since it started to rain when we’d walked around for a bit, we went inside again looking at all of mom’s pretty things (she likes to collect pretty things and decorate her home). Checking out where my room used to be and all that stuff while mom prepared a…. FIKA! :-D We also took the chance to say hello to all of mom’s four cats, including HUGE Ozzy that [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni fell in love with, I think… He’s a Maine Coon… and a BIG one! Currently weighing around 11-12 kilos, and he’s not fully grown yet… Insane!

Then we had FIKA downstairs. And talked. And talked and talked and talked. :-D Both mom and I agreed and told [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni she would be a WONDERFUL doctor one day, since she got her heart right where it should be. Mom should know. She’s 62 and has worked as an assistant nurse ever since she started working.

Alexandra just played with mine and brothers old toys while we were talking that mom has pulled down from the attic. We didn’t even notice how the time flew until it was 9pm or so in the evening, and we had a 2 hour drive to get back to Borås.

At my mothers to see where I grew up! And to be spoiled... )

While driving we continued talking and talking and talking… So the ride back to Borås didn’t feel that long as it usually does. We also made a plan for the next day so I could drive them to the airport. I insisted. It’s only a 30-40 min drive, so why shouldn’t I? And their flight didn’t leave until midday, so it was no problem really.

Dropping [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni and Sarah off at their hotel we then drove home and once we’d gotten Alexandra to sleep in her bed instead of the car, we both collapsed in our bed.

Next morning was good and nice (with a kiddo not to cranky, wohoo!). Once I was ready I went to pick up [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni and Sarah so we’d be at the airport at a good time before their plane left. Once at the airport we had a FIKA, of course. ;-) And talked some more. During the whole weekend I felt quite comfortable talking to [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni friend Sarah, since I’ve learned so much about her from [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni’s entries. And apparently [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni had talked to Sarah a lot about me to, so it went both ways. (It appeared as if it was only good things to! I hope at least…)

As it got closer to them leaving, we hugged a lot. Both me and [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni assured each other that we were very happy about finally getting to meet. And that YES! Apparently I was just what [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni had expected. And [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni? Well… She was just what I had expected. Just a 1000 times more so! :-) Such an awesome woman. Whoever ends up with her as a psychiatric doctor is going to be really fucking lucky! :-D

Once I’d dropped them off, I felt empty and sad. Already missing them. We talked and laughed so much my jaw was a bit sore. :-)

Such amazing women. Just… amazing. It still blows my mind that she’s been here. It really does. All the way from Brooklyn, New York City, USA to little Borås, Sweden. Amazing.

So happy to be able to call you a dear friend, [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni.

A summer for the history books...

This summer is going to go down the history books... Geezes christ. o.O

I don't even know how it ended up this way, but I'll be exhausted after this summer. And it's not like there's anything bad going on. It's all good fun exciting stuff! But... THERE'S A LOT OF IT!!! o.O

  • May 8th and May 9th Ruchi is coming to visit me! We've followed each other here on LJ since I got my LJ almost... which was 2001. That's A LONG TIME AGO! And now she's coming to visit me. In just 2 weeks. I can't even wrap my head around that. Crazy! I so look forward to it though! I just worry what to show her? I mean, what can little Borås have to show to a born and breed girl from Brooklyn New York?!?!? I am just a LITTLE panicked over this fact! o.O *flails and runs around*

  • June 5th I am going to Sweden Rock Festival to watch Mötley Crües final visit to Sweden. It's their Last Tour run in Europe this summer, and once they'd done this world tour (running around the world a couple of times it appears... mostly in the US...), after that... They'll split up. They've even signed a contract for this. It's sad. Mötley Crüe is one hell of a band come glam metal rock. I love their music. But Mick Mars, bless him... His body is literary giving up on him. I have SUCH admiration of that man. So I understand if they pull the plug, I really do.

  • June 18th-21st me and Alexandra was supposed to stay at mom's to celebrate Midsummer. Supposed, I say. Since mom called today. She is getting surgery done on her stomach to remove extra skin after her gastric bypass. Something she's waited a long time for. And she found out today what dates to be at the hospital for this. 18th. Of course. Fuck. Peting is going to visit his best friend that lives 8 hours drive from here for that weird Midsummer paty that said best friend arranges each year. And what with the disaster last year with neither me nor Alexandra doing very good... I am NOT going. So I'd planned to spend Midsummer with mom. Well, that just didn't happen. Now I don't know what to do? I might call my brother and see... Maybe MIL... Although Peting and his relatives just don't celebrate Midsummer, which I love to do, so we'll see what happens there. I have some time yet to plan.

  • June - July somewhere [personal profile] snowstormskies might come to visit me again. She did last summer and she LOVED it here, which was wonderful to hear. We had a lovely, lovely time. Unfortunately she's having a really rough time right now, so it's not sure she'll be able to make it. I'd love to be able to give her hugs again though.

  • July 17-19th it's the yearly summer LARP based on the Fall Out games. So we call it the Fall Out LARP even if it's really called Valvet. One of the BEST LARP's I've been to! I've had such AMAZING things happen during that LARP, I don't even have words. I just pray and hope my darling friend J is coming this year. I ADORE playing with him! He is SUCH a sweetheart with one hell of a twisted mind. You end up plotting with him? You bet your ass you'll have one hell of a time. I've screamed. I've cried. I've scarred myself (accidentally from stumbling and hitting my knee on a rock!). I've been terrified. I've laughed so hard my stomach hurts. It's... such an amazing LARP, I'd hate to miss it. Oh, and it so happens it runs during my birthday weekend this year. Of course. X-D (My birthday is the 19th.)

  • 22nd of August my friend Chigrima who I wrote my masters thesis with is getting married to her long time friend and then partner Silvestris. They've meet and ended up friends before I meet Peting and got together with him. They were just friends at first. Then they were friends sharing an apartment... And then I think it progressed from there. These two ladies are AMAZING! They really are. And I am absolutely THRILLED they are getting married!

And I'm supposed to be able to work there somehow to. At a new job. I don't even know how this happened. I swear. But I need an extra vacation after this summer. o.O

New job and spring cleaning!

Interestingly enough, things are looking up. :-)

I got the job I wanted! WOHOO! OK, so I didn't dislike the school-library I was at, but... It's a school-library. I was to work as a school-librarian. Again. And it's a really REALLY active! With a lot of kids and a lot of activities and I don't even know what. A good thing of course! But geezes fuck, after working at that bad school? I just want a break from school-librarian work. :-P I am told constantly that I am great at it, and that's always nice to hear. Still though. :-P Please no more schools with crazy ass kids!!!

Instead I'll be working at a library a bit outside of town, in the in one of the small communities outside of town. I think it'll be great. I really do. I'll be the contact/school-librarian (still!) to the tiny schools out there on the countryside. Which will be a lot more fun, I think, then working with the schools here. Small tiny classes 10-15 kids (instead of 20-25 kids) and kids that really REALLY want to meet the librarian when you visit (instead of disinterested troubled kids in town, not all of them, but still). AND once a week I'll be librarian in charge of the library-buss... YES! HOW COOL AIN'T THAT! Just me and a driver and a buss filled with books. I am really looking forward to this, to be honest. *lol*

And today... Oh, today was great as well. I've contacted a cleaning company some time ago and asked them to come do a serious spring cleaning of doom in our apartment. Of course, I'll have to pay them for it. But man. It was NEEDED! And today... Today they were here. :-D It took 2 girls (one older one younger) 5 hours approximately to go over the whole apartment. They only took shelves we've emptied, but that was fine. What I was the most interested in was the ceilings and the walls of the rooms. To get them cleaned. ESPECIALLY in the bathroom! To be quite honest, the walls in our bathroom was... quite disgusting I'm ashamed to say. And the windows got cleaned and the curtains that I've ordered, almost all of them were done, so they are up and it's just... so damn nice here now. I am BEYOND pleased!

While they were cleaning the place we went to my MIL and got dinner and Alexandra got to play with all the toys that she's bought for Alexandra to have there while Alexandra visits. And my MIL is quite awesome, I have to say. She was not just hinting at wanting Alexandra to spend a night there again, she was downright doing the sledgehammer of hints with that. X-D So we'll make sure to make plans for that in the near future. Alexandra loves sleep overs at grandma, and we get a break, so all wins!

Of course, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 had to grumble over the fact I got a cleaning company here. Not for there reason you might think though. No, he kept saying I expected to much and would get disappointed. OK? What I wanted most was our bathroom to get a good once over. And it did. Our windows sparkle. And the rest? Even if I paid for it? Bonus. So he can just shut it. *grump*

At least we've now sorted our DVD/Blueray collection, which is good. All cartoon movies / kiddie movies is at a special place now, so whenever Alexandra wants to watch any of her favorites, they'll be easy to find. :-)

All in all, I am VERY pleased with the experience and might do it again. Spring-cleaning is a pain in the ass to do yourself anyway, isn't it? ;-)

End of sick leave and then....?

All fun and games until someone gets hurt... or don't know where to work. *sigh*

I've been on sick leave for almost 3 months now. Next week it's three months. I freely admit these last weeks it's been nice, since I am mobile and even though my lower leg/ankle isn't fully OK yet, it almost is. So it's like I'm off from everything. And yeah. It's nice.

Alexandra is in daycare still, and before you start shout at me about what a bad mother I am not having my kid with me when I can walk... I don't dare carry her down the stairs. She's gotten it into her head she can't walk in the stairs and if we don't carry her she throws a tantrum. My balance isn't 100% yet, so yeah... If she'd been home with me, it would have been indoors all day long, dull and boring. At the daycare center they do things all day long, being outside a lot of the time, she got friends there and she loves being there. She tells me (in her own way) all the things she's done and with what friends when she gets home. And when she's done, she cuddles up on the couch and wants to watch a movie (usually Frozen... or Lionking... or Robin Hood... We got a Disney-maniac.)

Me? I'm selling A TON of kid and baby clothes on Tradera / swedish Ebay. I've planned to do that a long time and since being more mobile, I figured why not? I've sold A LOT! Made a bit of money to, which feels great!

And I'm running errands that [livejournal.com profile] peting73 don't want to do. So these last few weeks have pretty much been similar to when I was unemployed with the difference I get sick pay and not money from the unemployment fund.

My lower leg/ankle is doing pretty good. It's stiff as all hell when I try to do some movements, but that's apparently normal. And when I try to point my toes inwards, so to speak, then it hurts a bit. According to my phsyio therapist though, it's normal and just to keep doing my foot exercises and it will be fine with time. OK, right. I can do that!

Next week is my last week on sick leave, and I don't know how to feel about that. Terrified is a good description. One one level I don't want to go back to my old job. I just managed to work there 25 days, not even a month. I didn't have time to 'get into' the job. The guy that works there for me now, is AWESOME! A really nice guy and he is doing a great job, kids at the school loving him. Boss is saying she might move me to another library, which is a bit away from here and not as close. BUT! The work duties are way more interesting. And I wouldn't have to be a school-librarian all the time. I'm apparently good at being a school-librarian, but to be honest? It's not always fun. And I... am not sure I wanna be a school-librarian until I retire. A kid/teen librarian, YES! But not at a school, for gawds sake! :-/

My boss hasn't decided what to do yet, unfortunately, so we'll see what happens. Fingers crossed I get moved to the other library... *crosses fingers*

Answer for question 4320.

[Error: unknown template qotd]I DO! All the time. Usually with the cats or any inanimate objects. And definitely when I get annoyed at something. *lol*

Poor [livejournal.com profile] peting73 did get used to it after awhile and now he knows when I talk to him or not. I don't know how he knows, but he knows.

At work, it's even more hilarious. X-D At all the libraries I've worked at, none of the other librarians have even commented on my walking around muttering to myself. Why? BECAUSE THEY ALL DO IT TO!!! It's hilarious! Somehow it works though, and we poke each other to get each others attention when we want to say something or talk about something. I might end up at another library after my sick-leave. And I know a couple of the librarians working there, so I know it will be the same thing again. :-D Who said librarian work was boring? *lol*

Kicking my own ass - Life - Interesting vids...

I am doing what I keep telling others not to. I am not posting because I don't feel like anyone would find it interesting.

*head-desk*

WTH? This is MY journal. I should post no matter what. If it is interesting to me or to anyone else. To write down my thoughts does have a tendency to clear them up. I keep returning. I keep poking at this place. Because it's just... home. If you've posted/written/journaled/blogged at the same place for 11 ½ years, it does end up home, wether you like it or not.

I'll just be writing for me sake. Sharing for my sake. And if anyone else happens to like it, than cool. :-)

So on that note... I got rid of my cast this Friday! :-D YAY!!! Six weeks of me jumping around on one leg (with support) is now OVER!!! I can walk on the leg, although I still have to use regular crutches to take some weight off the leg still. It's stiff as all hell! Geezes... I have exercises that I should do every day which are dull but I can feel they are doing a difference. So dull, but good for me. Isn't that always the case with these things? *lol*

At least now I am more mobile and can move around. :-)

My brother with his kids and my mom came over this Saturday, which was AWESOMELY fun! (And they cooked food for us for some reason...) I love my brother to bits, and when a guy like him (6.2 feet tall!) takes a seat IN YOUR LAP!!! Now that's sibling-love to a whole new level! Also, his ass is bony. Someone needs to feed him. X-D

We had a wonderful time though! And Alexandra got to get out and play with her cousins at a playground which was fun by all, while I stayed at home with my bad leg and fixed coffee for the adults to drink when they got back. :-)

Then today, Sunday, we cleaned the apartment. Weekly cleaning. AND I COULD HELP!!! Yes, you worry-wards. I listened to my body and didn't do to much. :-) Promise! It's funny though how happy you can be from managing to clean the bathroom. X-D It's the easiest room to clean in this apartment, so I felt I would be abel to do that to take some load of [livejournal.com profile] peting73. And it worked FINE! :-D So now I can add that to my list of chores until I'm fully recovered. :-)

I am planning on being able to get out of the house on Saturday though. (With crutches!) To say shit has hit the fan... SERIOUSLY! at the vampire-LARP I am in would be an understatement. And not only for my character, but for ALL characters!!! Well, I really Really REALLY wanna go on Saturday! So I am doing my exercises stubbornly every day! And I know there's an elevator where we have our society local, so at least I don't have to hobble up four stories... :-) I have to wonder what our GM's have smoked though... X-D I love all them people, seriously....

To end it, have some pimping of random stuff I've come across online lately. :-)

I found THIS video very VERY interesting! Especially since I wrote my masters thesis on comics. This is about cartoons. In fact, about cartoons that are very very racist. For the simple reason they were made during such an era. It is very interesting and I do really like the way the two guys in the video discuss this. I would have loved to talk to these two guys while writing my thesis to be honest. It could have been interesting. *geeks out*

Old Cartoons Were RACIST! )

And while we're on the subject of cartoons, I've started following this cool girl Laci Green on Twitter. She's a YouTuber of some fame apparently, and is doing a YouTube show for MTV. It's all about sex-positivity, gender-positivity and just... positivity all around. :-) I have yet to see a vid by her I didn't enjoy. Here she takes up gender stereotypes in Disney movies. But not the female stereotypes, interestingly enough. But the MALE stereotypes! I really enjoyed that, I have to say! And it's not a 'not all men'-thing and hurt-men-complain-thing. No, no, no... This is a feminist girl looking at stereotypes in a new way, and I do like that. :-)

How Disney Stereotypes Hurt Men )

And now I'll destroy the swedish reputation a bit... X-D I don't remember who sent this to me, but I am now a fan of the YouTube channel Regular Ordinary Swedish Meal Time. These guys are NUTS! X-D And, sad to say... very swedish. *laughs ass off* They speak in swedish (mostly) but there's subtitles and they don't speak that much so it's easy to follow if you don't speak swedish. I keep laughing my way through these, SERIOUSLY!!!

Chop Chop Carnage Stew (Alternative Pyttipanna) )

Also, I happen to like Pyttipanna. A lot. ;-D

And it seems like Netflix is coming up with a very intersting TV-show. Especially if you're a Marvel-fan. A new take on Daredevil. Now, I really like the comic-character, but I feel they butchered the character in the movie. This, however... looks very very interesting. Going back to what the comic is REALLY about.

Family filled with bad luck? - Movie! - Books!

So... the 23e of January I broke my leg... A week later, my mom fell over and scratched up her whole face. Going on a check up, she found out that her bad knee? Had a crack in the kneecap. Fuck. No cast needed, but she needs a protective knee pad thingy to make sure her kneecap stays put. And guess what? The week after that my brother... got ran over by a cow (well, a heifer) and twisted his knee... so one of those knee pad thingies for him to, but he only had to use it for about a week or so.

WTH? o.O

And that's not all!

Mom came over last weekend to hang out and help us out a bit. As long as she's taking it easy and moving around slow, her knee is fine, so that's good. Anyway. Guess what happened then? She dropped her phone in the toilette! X-D No joke! We didn't find it there until about an hour after she'd noticed it was gone. And that's just because I needed to use the bathroom.

Geezes. Enough is enough universe! Give us a break!

At this point all there is is to laugh about it all, to be honest.

I watched an amazing movie the other day. Desert Flower. I pretty much broke down. It's about the life of Waris Dirie and her life from being a little girl in the Somali dessert to a model and to a spokeswoman against female genital mutilation. To say I broke down during that movie, despite the fun parts, would be an understatement. It was done to her when she was 3 years old.... Just 3. About the age as Alexandra....

To say Alexandra got plenty cuddles that night would be an understatement.

Desert Flower Trailer... )

Watch it. I think it's an important movie. I've put a hold on the book at the closest library (where I'm supposed to be working if it hadn't been for my broken leg...). It's next to Alexandras daycare, so I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] peting73 will pick it up for me.

[livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit, my best friend, came by said hi and helped me clean a bit as well not to long ago. She dropped off the book Temeraire av Naomi Novik. In english. ;-) So there's that. And I'm reading the book Toddler Taming as well. Because, damn. I have a toddler now. o.O At least Alexandra is a moderately calm toddler. :-)

Now I'm going to hobble with my walking support (looking like this) to go eat and watch some Supernatural and read a bit. Working on a link/pimp post as well. Gonna be a lot of 50 Shades of GreyFail in that. ;-)

Laters!

Alive and breaking legs...

So yeah...

I'm alive, more or less. I just needed to step back and take a break from Livejournal there for a while. Plus, RL got hella busy you could say.

I worked for 9 months at that tough school with all the troubled kids. Which was tough, but oddly rewarding at the same time. My colleague there was... eccentric to say the least and didn't exactly do what he was supposed to. Which he'd hidden from the higher ups. Until I got there. So I hope things will be sorted there now. From what I've heard, he is getting a lot of orders from bosses and stuff to actually do his job. Which, you know... wouldn't have been a problem. If it wasn't for the fact his health is... less then good. I suspect they'll be without a school-librarian there before long. :-P

My employment there ended, so I am now at another school-library. At another school which is both more and less to do. The school I'm at now is really REALLY working with the library so I have A LOT of classes and stuff which is fun and interesting.

(I even dressed up for one of them... ;-) )

And my colleagues there are fun and a bit crazy in just the right amount, which makes me feel RIGHt at home. And it's located next door to Alexandra's daycare. So it takes me ten mins to walk to Alexandra's daycare and 2 mins from there to work. It's bloody perfect. :-)

But of course.... I had to go break my leg.

No really. I literary broke my leg. I was walking to Alexandra's daycare, same road I walk every day, this Friday. The ice was really slippery that day so I made sure to walk slowly and carefully.

Apparently not enough, because all of a sudden my feet just disappeared from under me and I heard a crack when the leg broke and then all I could focus on was pain - pain - pain... And Alexandra crying. Since it was just me and her alone. Luckily it happened outside a house so the guy there called the ambulance right away and two women stayed one taking care of Alexandra and one taking care of me as much as they could. Called [livejournal.com profile] peting73 as well, so he could rush from work to take care of ALexandra. He arrived just before the ambulance did.

Once at the hospital I didn't have to wait long before I ended up in surgery where they put metal parts in my leg to keep it fixed in place. And a big cast.

So currently I am feeling absolutely worthless. I can't help [livejournal.com profile] peting73 with anything at home. And Alexandra has trouble understanding why mom can't play with her like I used to. I'm more or less stuck on either the couch or on the chair by the computer. It sucks mayorly.

Now I'm on prolonged sick leave. 3 months. And I'll have a cast on for two months at least. I'll probably go nuts before that time is over. :-P

Political Views: What does that even matter?!?! No offense, but why does US people always put so much significance into what you religion you believe in or what politics you go for... *grumble* I consider myself supporting the Socialdemocratic Workers' Party of Sweden the most. There. Happy? *double-grumble*

Favourite Song(s): Too many to mention

3 Random Facts about you:
1. Was badly bullied as a kid but has since got over it, apart from one thing. I feel paniced everytime I try to do any form of exercise.

2. Grew up way out on the countryside in a classic red swedish house. Very idyllic. But now, I would never ever wanna live like that again. I love my apartment in the city, thank you.

3. Got plenty of tattoos and piercings which the kids at school kinda like. :-) Especially the smaller ones.

Story behind your username:
Long story. I was elected to be a member of the Student Union Club The Sexmasters (no, got nothing to do with sex), and they thought it was funny to give me the nickname KSena. You always get a nickname given to you by the seniour members in the club. Anyway, where did they get the idea for KSena from then? Well, I am a diehard Xena-fan, a Xenaite. And KSena in swedish is pronouced the same way as Xena, so they thought that was fun. And there you go. Then I got myself a livejournal and wanted to use KSena as a username, but it was taken. So I threw in some extra letters making it kseenaa. And there you go!

1. Nickname(s): KSena, obviously. ;-)

2. Age: 37. Born 1977.

3. Location: Borås, Sweden.

4. Occupation: School-librarian.

5. Partner? Yes, [livejournal.com profile] peting73.

6. Kid(s): A daughter who had her second birthday beginning of August called Alexandra.

7. Brothers/Sisters: A brother four years younger than me.

8. Pets: Two black cats, Skuld and Verdandi.

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
Stressed out at work. SO MUCH TO DO!!! And no energy to do them.
My daughter. Things happening every damn day.
Family, trying to find time to visit them since most of them live about 2 hours away from here.
I did mention my work stressing me out, right?

Damn my life is boring.

10. Parents: Mother - who is even more crazy then me. Father - died at age 47 13 or so years ago.

11. Who are some of your closest friends?: [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit, no contest. We got to know each other at school when we were both 13 and we're still the best of friends. She knows me better than I know myself sometimes! And then, of course, there's all my young friends at the Vampire-LARP Club that I love and adore.

12. What are some of the things you like most? My computer, my books, movies, LARP, cats, piercings, tattoos... I don't know what else to put.

13. A photo of yourself and anything else you want to say: I'm posting a photo shortly, don't have any available right here. Or you could go to my Instagram HERE. I'm sure there's a photo of me there somewhere and not only of my daughter...

Vampire-LARP and people dying...

Alexandra spent the night with [livejournal.com profile] peting73's mom between Saturday and Sunday. During Alexandra's birthday MIL said that it would be so fun to have her over the weekend again, so we decided to do it right away.

Gave me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 a chance to go to the LARP together as well, wich we haven't done since December when we last did the same plan. It worked out wonderfully, and Alexandra had a grand time with her grandma. It feels so good that it works out so fine with her. I love my MIL and that Alexandra is so secure in herself and with her grandma that we can just drop her off there, is a great feeling.

Anyhow, so LARP.

Holy shit, the insanity. I thought for sure that my character would bite the dust last night. I think she broke a ton of laws. Found out more about where she came from (she's related to werewolfs, so turning her into a vampire might not have been the smartest ever...), about the werewolf she was supposed to marry... almost lost her best friend... and got staked in the heart which immobilize her not killing her, and then she got thrown in a basement for safe-keeping until her clans mates know what to do with her.

Considering her short temper, immense physical power, and the fact she's quite dumb... I'm suprised they didn't kill her on the spot. X-D I spent the whole LARP thinking "I can't get my character in worse trouble, it's not possible!" Two seconds later: "Shit. It just got worse." X-D So I had a lot... A LOT of fun!

Sadly though, it didn't appear as if [livejournal.com profile] peting73 had as much fun. His character is having a vendetta with another character, and currently... it's not going well for his character. Knowing [livejournal.com profile] peting73... The revenge will be sweet... and slow cooking... ;-) I'm sure I'll hear all about it when it happens.

So LARP is great. Work not so much.

I don't want to go to work tomorrow. :-/ Really. It was A PAIN IN THE ASS to pack up the whole library in June. Guess what? Now we have to Unpack it. And we have no time to do it, since we didn't get access to our new premise until a week before school starts. There's no way in hell that we can unpack in time. But those responsible for the move says we have to. WTH? GIVE US MORE MANPOWER THEN, gawd dammit... I'm not sure anyone is aware of this, but even in a small library there's a lot of books. That you're supposed to put up in the shelfs IN ORDER! And since we stressed so much when we packed the books, there's not always order in the boxes. So you have to check everything twice. Which takes time. And if you don't, no one will be able to find any books in the library.

I just want to call in sick or something... Blame that I need to be home with Alexandra. I just DO NOT WANT. *SIGH*

We'll get some extra help tomorrow... hopefully. I'm keeping my fingers crossed at least.

And a few days ago I found out Robin Williams killed himself. Geezes. I've always been a huge fan of his movies. Drama and comedy. An old favorite being Hook. A grand loss. And it hits close to home to. Tashé was poor and had a seriously tough life... I failed being there for her. One would think Robin Williams would have more people around that could be there for him. But I guess not even that helped. Rest in peace both of you. I miss you both already.
