I got a selfie with The Phantom Of The Opera! TRUE STORY!!! (A LOT of photos in this post!)

So I went to Gothenburg for some quality time with my best friend this weekend. And to see Phantom of the Opera with Fred Johanson playing the title role of the Phantom.

I saw Fred Johanson in the movie version of Jesus Christ Superstar years and years ago, and I feel head over heels over his deep dark voice and his incredible presence in every scene he was in. My best friend, who is a serious musical buff, has since kept track of him both for me and since she likes him to. In a word, we’ve turned into a bit of fangirls over him.

Had I not been a fresh new mom, we would have gone to Stockholm to see him in Jesus Christ Superstar there, but alas… :-) Now we got our chance though, and we jumped at it! Plus it played during February and we both HATE February, so there’s that to. :-) We all need something to put a smile on our face, right?

Anyhow, to make sure we wouldn’t have to stress after we’d been to the Gothenburg Opera House were the musical played, we decided to share a room at a hotel. We both have busy lives with work and such, so we needed a lazy little weekend with our best friend. :-)

We left for Gothenburg moderately early, it just takes 1 hour to go to Gothenburg by bus or train, so we were there around… 10:30am.

Went to the hotel we were luckily our room was already available, so we dumped our sleepover bags and then we just strolled around town taking our time. We both needed a stress free day, and we took our time with everything. Went to our favorite shops and stores. I ‘happened to’ buy the three latest Elfquest graphic novels. Oops? And we had a late lunch/dinner in a lovely british themed pub before we went back to the hotel to dress up for the night.

Travel and shopping and views of Gothenburg and it's stores with my best friend... )

The Gothenburg Opera House is quite impressive. A modern building mostly made by glass and steel, but it still works quite well and is oddly beautiful. Right by the harbor to. Easy to get to.

Entrance of the Opera House... )

We were there in plenty time, so there was no stress getting rid of coats, do a panicked bathroom break and finding our seats. Great seats, by the way! Close but not too close to the stage. Could see everything and hear everything perfectly. Whenever I need tickets to a musical, I trust Ylletyg to get tickets, she seriously rocks at it. :-D

Interiour decoration and well... me... )

And so… On to the musical itself. :-) Apart from the knee jerk reaction “OMG! IT WAS AMAZING! I HAD GOOSEBUMPS!” Well, I did have goosebumps for most of it, but…

Unlike Ylletyg I have not seen that many musicals (she’s a proper musical-nerd), but I HAVE read the original book by Gaston Leroux. And it’s a very goth, very harsh gritty story. From what I knew of the musical going in, it’s not… quite as harsh and gritty as the original story. The original story is really dark, really goth. I do recommend it if you have the patience for the old fashioned language used. It’s really good.

So to actually see and hear it, and with Fred Johanson to boot, it was a true experience.

Me and best friend and the stage before the musical started... )

Let’s see… How to do this…

The good

Well, the music, obviously. *LOL* This production was made together with the Finnish National Opera Company, so there were a couple of opera singers in it. And the orchestra was quite massive as well. Not sure how big an orchestra is at a musical, but since this was played at the Gothenburg Opera House, they used the full orchestra usually used there. And you could tell. The music just consumed you. Not even joking. The combination of the skilled musicians and the singers, all the different singers, was spellbinding.

Another downright amazing thing, that impressed both me and Ylletyg, is something the Gothenburg Opera House is known for… The ease and speed in wish the stage was changed and the scenography. I mean, the set up of the stage was changed SO FAST and SO SEAMLESSLY!!! Apparently the Gothenburg Opera House is built to be able to do that, so there was many scenes with different looks and a lot of props that quickly and seamlessly was changed around. The most impressive scene to me was when The Phantom lures Christine with him to his lair the first time (during the song Phantom of the Opera, the most famous of the songs) and all these stairwells and grey brick walls moved around on the stage as if they were part of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies… WITH the actors standing on them! THAT was impressive!

Another really good thing about this musical, which both me and Ylletyg both commented on at the same time, was that it was quite harsh and gritty, goth and dark. Well, the story IS dark and goth in and off itself, but the movie isn’t that harsh and gritty. And according to Ylletyg, previous productions hasn’t been this harsh and gritty either… If that makes sense? It sure worked really really well though, and I got the feeling that the actors/singers enjoyed that to. The costumes were INCREDIBLE and while I wanted to steal most of the male costumes, Ylletyg wanted to steal all the female ones. *LOL* She said the costumes had a bit of steampunk feel to it, and I have to agree! They even redesigned The Phantom’s mask, and I have to say I really liked it! The whole scenography and costumes was really good and added to the harsh, gritty, goth, dark feel of the whole production. A great great job!

Characters / Actors

When it comes to characters and their singers/actors, I have to say a character I found dull and boring in the book and in the movie (yes, I have seen the movie to), is Raoul. Christine's love interest. He is the posterboy for the time the novel was written, but would not be popular today, if get what I mean. But the actor/singer that did him the night we watched, did something more with the character within the frames he was given. A boyish charming guy, that very clearly showed his love for Christine. Not just competing with The Phantom, you know? He somehow managed to show that he cared. More than the Raoul in the novel, to be honest. So he sure impressed me!

Raoul works together with the two new owners of the Opera, Monsieur Firmin and Monsieur André. And these two were freaking HILARIOUS! Perfect comic relief without going to far with it. Have some of the best songs, to be honest. And the two actors clearly had fun with these actors. It was very obvious. The Phantom is my favorite, but these comes close to it, for sure. I think they did great!

Carlotta and Pangini were two other characters that were definitely comic reliefs. Carlotta and Pangini are the two stars of the opera in the story. And Carlotta? Is a proper diva! *LOL* The actress/singer is a trained opera-singer. And you can tell. I don’t think she had a microphone. She didn’t need one. Holy hell, what a voice! Combining that with an over the top diva character, and it was a joy to see! Also, she had the most awesome clothes off ALL the characters! High heeled victorian boots in leopard print? GIVE ME! Pangini was a bit more flat of a character, but he was funny to. Especially with Carlotta who kept bulling him around, while he just came back for more. Both of them played up an italian accent, which was very fitting both for the setting and the story.

Madame Giry and Meg are two pretty cool characters in the story to, that I really really like. We’re getting close to my favorite now. ;-) Madame Giry pretty much takes another characters role in the novel. The character that KNOWS… Knows about where the Phantom/Erik comes from. And that was a pleasant surprise. You actually found out quite a bit! That he’d built a room of mirrors for a Shah… that he’d been born with a disfigurement… that he’d been with a freakshow lead by gypsies… That he’d built trapdoors and sneaky passages all over the Opera House… So Madame Giry is quite the important character! And the actress/singer who played her did SUCH a good job! Just the right amount of creepy and know-it-all without making it annoying.

So is Meg! She’s best friend with Christine, and is a constant suporter to Christine. She’s the one that tells Monsieur Firmin and Monsieur André that Chrstine can be a standin for Carlotta, and in so makes sure they can discover Chrstines amazing voice. She to knows the stories about the Phantom quite well and also gives us clues to him, just like her mother. Her actress doesn’t have that much to work with, but I think she did a great job, I really did.

Christine… Ah, Christine. The token love intressent. She’s just as interesting as in the novel, that is not that interesting at all. But I have to give it to the actress/singer. She really milked the role for all it was worth! Not only a gorgeous young woman with a miraculous voice that is manipulated by a creepy voice in the walls… But a woman with dreams and wants her own, that wants to be independent and be the new star but is to shy to take the chance in the beginning (thank you Meg!). And also how confused and desperate she is the longer the story unfolds. I think it was very well played! And that woman's voice… WOW! She to has apparently trained to be a opera singer, and you can tell! Some of them notes… Just wow...

The Phantom / Erik… Ah, what to say, really? Played by the INCREDIBLE Fred Johanson, the sole reason we even went to see this production of The Phantom. It, of course, helps that I really like the story about Erik, the man who has grown up harshly and then isolated because of his face that is disfigured and horrible to see. Not even his mother managed to look at him kindly. One of my favorite books is Phantom by Susan Kay about Erik’s life from birth to death. I can not recommend it enough if you enjoy this character. It’s absolutely incredible. How did Fred Johanson do in the role then? Incredible, as was expected. He is a very tall man, somewhere between 6,4 and 6,5 feet tall (said himself in an interview), if somewhat leaner than he used to be. Still, having an incredible knee length coat on (that I wanted to steal…), he makes for an imposing figure. He definitely did the character justice, and not only when he needed to be scary, but also in more emotional moments. And then Fred’s voice… Holy fuck, that deep dark voice… It gives me freaking goosebumps, not even joking. Fred also has an incredible presence on stage! I’ve seen him three times live now, and then there’s the Jesus Christ Superstar movie, and Fred has this ability to just OWN the stage as soon as he sets foot on it. I don’t know how he does it, but it’s incredible to see. As the Phantom at times you just hear his voice, you don’t see him, and he still just OWNS the stage! An amazing talent in all ways! He really should get more attention for his talent.

Just to prove Fred’s talent, here he sings The Music Of The Night:

Fred Johanson singing The Music of The Night! )

The bad

So the bad… Was there anything bad? Well, yeah. And it’s mostly nitpicking, but still.

One thing that kind disappointed me was… The infamous chandelier. The one that at one point during the musical “falls down”. The Phantom is pissed off, and makes a chandelier in the auditorium fall down and kill some of the audience, and to show this during the musical, they have a chandelier go on a cable over the audience from the ceiling. The whole musical starts with it going up the ceiling. You’d expect it to be an impressive piece then, right? Since it plays such a vital role? Right? Well. The auditorium at the Gothenburg Opera House is MASSIVE. And the chandelier kinda… disappeared. It looked REALLY TINY somehow. And the design wasn’t that impressive either, so that was a bit of a let down. :-P It was still cool though when it “fell down”.

At one point in the middle the story slowed down a bit, and I didn’t really know what was going on. It was a good thing I knew the story well, just saying, or I could have been a bit lost. Also, in the beginning especially, there was just way to many people on stage and you had to really focus to keep track of where the main characters was.

Nitpicky? Yes, a little maybe. :-) I’m allowed to. ;-)

Right, so…

After the musical was over, me and Ylletyg went to get our coats. We’d decided to try to go to the stage door to see if we could see Fred Johanson there and hopefully get an autograph. So we stood there calmly waiting in line… And suddenly, right behind us one of the many doors in the Opera House opened. And Fred Johanson in full Phantom makeup literary leaned his head out the door raising an eyebrow.

I nearly peed myself. One of those things you just can’t believe is happening.

Fred seemed to know some people, one in a wheelchair, and talked happily to them. No one bothered him, or took photos. Everyone was REALLY respectful and kept their distance, so he just stood there, talking happily with a couple of people. Opening and closing the door now and then since the alarm kept going off, and making a funny joke about it every time. Me and Ylletyg had a hard time containing our excitement, I won’t lie. We debated back and forth in hushed voices if we really would dare to go over to him or not and what we’d say etc…

Then a young women came over to me giving me a hug. It took me a second, but then I saw she was one of the many teens that had graduated from ‘my school’ two years ago. She was studying music now and was just as excited as we were about the musical experience, and very happy to see me (yay!). She’d spent hours in the library with me, so she knew what a nerd and fangirl I am. When I told her I didn’t know if I should go over to Fred or not or if I dared to ask for a photo, she sternly told me I HAD to when she understood what a fan I was. The student becomes the teacher? X-D

Said and done, when there were fewer people talking to him we walked over to him, hearts beating, and told him what an incredible singer he is. I think I even told him I got goosebumps from his voice. X-D

And we also made sure to say we were amazed by the presence he has on stage, and that we’d seen him in three different musicals live now, and that at least I kept rewatching the Jesus Christ Superstar he is in. He seemed really flattered that we’d followed his career and read up on him more than just about this role and was very happy to hear we’d enjoyed his performance that much. I remember he said he’d never reflected on about having a presence or stage or not, but we assured him he seriously has.

We respectfully asked him if we could take a photo, and he said sure! Fred then asked if we wanted a joint selfie with him. At that point my poor friend who is just 4.9 feet tall (short?) piped up “But I’m so short…” Well, I’m 5.9, almost 6 feet, and Fred is between 6.4 and 6.5 feet, so I totally understand her! X-D We ended up taking a photo each with him. When it was Ylletygs turn, he even bent his knees so he’d be level with her. IT WAS SO CUTE!!!! We again thanked him so very much for the incredible evening. He just smiled and bid his farewell before disappearing behind that door again.

Picture evidence! I DID GET A SELFIE WITH THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA! I GOT TO MEET FRED JOHANSON!!! )

As we were leaving after that, we were downright floating! X-D We could not stop grinning and felt as if we were drunk, even if we hadn’t had any alcohol that day! (Well, just a little with lunch/dinner...)

Ylletyg commented that things like this only happens when it’s us two to doing stuff together, and I think she’s right! The magic of being two long time best friends? *LOL* It might be what triggers these incredible things!

So before we went back to the hotel, we felt like we needed a sturdy drink! So we found a pub that wasn’t to crowded, had a drink and a snack, discussing our evening and our incredible meeting with Fred. Then we went back to the hotel.

Once in a bed each though, we couldn’t sleep! X-D Se we ended up laying in the darkness giggling and talking for quite the long time, just like little girls, before we feel asleep!

You’d never guess we’re both 40 years old… X-D

The next day Ylletyg had to get up early since she was going on a course in Gothenburg to learn how to make hats, so I joined her for the LOVELY hotel breakfast and then she left and I just lazed around a bit in the hotel room before leaving to. A bit of shopping later and I went home.

So thus endeth my AMAZING time in Gothenburg with my best friend!

Vacation time... Part one: Visit from dear darling british friend!

And so, nearly all my vacation is done and over with... This last week I'll do nothing but laze around and not do shit. Well, apart from the necessary, of course. :-P

So, as you saw on my previous post, the midsummer trip and following week staying with my mom went really well! Better and more awesome than I had expected! So grateful for that! I love my mom to bits, and just to get to stay with her and be around her was bliss.

Anyway, we came home and we had just a few days and then my DEAREST [personal profile] snowstormskies came over! Which was AWESOME!

She didn't stay as long as she did last year, arrived late on Sunday and left midday on Thursday. So, effectively we had three days we could do something fun and hang out. And that we did!

If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen photos of what we've been up to already. :-) (I'm very active on Instagram...)

We spent one day at Karlsborg Fortress, which is totally cool! If you want the history of the fortress either go there or check out the wiki-page I linked to there. :-D It's an incredible place. Biggest fortress in Sweden! And the short story is that it was built to protect Sweden's gold reserve, government and royal family in case Russia attacked. Historically Russia has been a very real threat to Sweden.

And the guided tour sure reflects that! It's called A Historic Adventure Tour! And an adventure it was. You get to see a movie about how life was like in the fort when it was active. And parts of the tour you get to experience loud fake bombardments and talking dolls as if russians are attacking the fort. So it was a bit hectic and.... quite exciting there for a while! I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with PTSD or any other mental illness!

Alexandra joined us to, and she might have been a bit to young. She was very frightened. The tour guide was great though, said she was a brave princess and feed her and the other kids 'gold coins', aka chocolate coins. :-) And both during and afterward we talked to Alexandra about it very clearly and properly and it seems as if she understood. She keeps saying since that loud bangs are bad. But that she's a brave princess. I couldn't agree more!

Pictures from Karlsborg: One, Two, Three, Four, Five

The day after that me and [personal profile] snowstormskies decided to take a shopping and having a SPA afternoon. And that we did! I usually don't shop much, but I got inspired by [personal profile] snowstormskies and do a fair bit of shopping as well. :-P Mostly useful stuff or things that have broken that I replaced. All good though! I did end up buying scented candles just like last year and the year before that. I guess that's tradition to do now when she visits. X-D

And of course that meant Alexandra got to have a calm day at home with dad, which I think she needed. :-)

So the spa was lovely and the shopping was nice and we ended up having a great dinner in the evening with Alexandra and Peting as well, so that was wonderful. :-)

Spa picture: One

Last day we got to do something together, we decided to go to Torpa Stonehouse. It's a pretty cool medieval mansion/castle that has been in the same family since it was built... and still is. No joke. :-) I took [personal profile] snowstormskies there the first time she visited, and she liked it so much she wanted to go again. So we did! The tour guide was really great, and did the whole tour in english even though she was very insecure in the language. She did great though! She even assured Alexandra there'd be no loud bangs! :-)

After we'd explored the house and all it's crooks, crannies, secret passages and all that, we went to a moderately small house outside where they sold a TON of handmade stuff! Like household items, knitted things, sewn things, leather work, metal work... You name it. :-D All handmade from people around the area. [personal profile] snowstormskies LOVES that sort of thing, and so do I, so that was awesome! Aaaand... we spent some money there, no surprise. X-D

We also went to a neighboring farm/mansion that was a bit younger, I think they started out there during the 1500's... There to they sold a lot of handmade stuff and things, so... we spent some more money. X-D Alexandra got a giant handmade softie snake that she fell head over heels for!

So we had a really good time, you could say!

Pictures from Torpa Stonehouse: One, Two, Three (Most are multiple images.)

Next day I helped [personal profile] snowstormskies clean up the little cabin she stayed in at the camping ground here, Borås Camping. She really enjoyed that little cabin, and it was really easy to clean up as well, to make it ready for the next person renting it. :-)

After that we went to have lunch, picking up Alexandra on the way. Peting choose to fix his own, since he felt his blood sugar levels had gone through the roof lately... Diabetes is such a pain, seriously! But we had a good time still, just us three girls. :-) Then we dropped Alexandra off, hugs all around!

Then I drove [personal profile] snowstormskies to the airport, waving her off. That's always the hardest part. I love, love having her here visiting! And she claims it's good for her somehow. I'm just glad she enjoys my company enough to come visit me once a year. She already plans for next year... ;-)

Saying goodbye: One

So that was the first post! Next post will deal about... adventures with my brother, our kids and Astrid Lindgrens World!

My Humanoid VIP experience of Tokio Hotel Dream Machine in Stockholm!!!

I saw and meet Tokio Hotel in Stockholm!!!!

Oh my world... Where to even start? X-D

OK. Let's see if we can do this.

I worked Wednesday as usual (including stopping a fight in the library... again... wtf?). Since it hadn't been very fun to take Alexandra to daycare with achy leg and heavy bags, I decided that I'd go by cab the rest of the day. Which I did. From daycare and to work. And during my work-day I ordered a cab to come pick me up to and take me to the train station. Which went very well. :-)

And after a little wait, the train came and I went to Stockholm. Only had to change train once, so not much to tell about the trip itself. I bought first class tickets though, because that means more leg-room and a more calm relaxing setting. :-)

So I had a good trip to Stockholm. Calm, nice and relaxing. And when I got there, I found a cab to take me to the hotel. No issues there either.

And the hotel was absolutely lovely. LOVELY, I tell you! And the bed….. SO SOFT! Bliss!

Anyway, the day of the concert I took the chance to have a lovely sleep in, because I’m a mom and that is rare. Then I had a great hotel breakfast, thank you ever so. Really yummy.

I didn’t want to walk around to much, since I wanted to save my broken achy leg for the concert, but I wanted to buy a gift for Alexandra and one for Peting to, for letting me do this. Well, you get what I mean. ;-)

So I walked up the street next to the hotel, but there was no shops really there. Walking back to the hotel, I asked them about it, and they said if I took the bus to the shopping area right next to the Ericsson Globe, I’d get my fill. So I did. :-)

And bought a crafting kit for Alexandra (which we tried today) and a bobble head Darth Vader for [Bad username or unknown identity: ”peting73”], because he is a SUCKER for anything Star Wars. :-) He is probably the biggest Star Wars nerd I know. :-D

That done, I took the bus back to the hotel and my room. Taking a nap and resting my leg on a bunch of pillows to make sure it got a proper rest in preparation of the concert. :-) Was good I did!

I’d located where the venue was before my nap, and it took about… 5-10 mins to walk there… with my limp, so it was very close to the hotel. :-) I got there around 5pm. I got a VIP Humanoid ticket, and had gotten the information that we’d be let in at 5:30pm. That didn’t happen…

Rumours went around that the boys had been late with the previous VIP people, which in turn made everything late… :-P

So we had to wait nearly an extra hour. Them Tokio Hotel boys are notorious for being late, aren’t they?

Anyway, so we got let in by a guy with a Humanoid sign over his head, and the only ones by the stage are those that had paid more money for a better VIP ticket. Meaning I got VERY close to the stage! YAY!

And then more waiting. We had to wait for 1½ hour there! Standing at about the same spot! o.O Can you IMAGINE how my leg was doing at that point?!?!? I couldn’t feel my toes, put it that way…

But all that was forgotten when the concert started! :-D It was GREAT! Yeah, there were a lot of songs from the Dream Machine album, obviously. And I don’t like that album very much. BUT! There were A LOT of songs from Kings of Suburbia as well, and that just so happens to be my favorite album of theirs! :-D And the Dream Machine songs were far better live, to be honest.

It really was a great concert. The mood in the audience was awesome. Singing along and dancing. Bill did a great job of keeping the mood up in the audience, ‘dancing’ around on the stage and engaging with the audience. So did Tom and Georg, when they were down from that tower-thing they were on.

Gustav was obviously stuck behind his drums, and they were a bit to the right side of the stage. I wouldn’t say he was hidden behind speakers, but it was a bit odd a placement. *shrug* I get what they were trying to do. Change it up on stage. And it did work. I just missed having Gustav in the center… But I’m biased. He IS my favorite after all. :-) And I managed to get a few good shots of him, so there’s that! Especially during the drum-solo he and Tom had, which was AWESOME! So glad I managed to film some of that. It was incredible. And the drumming he did in the beginning. Drummers I tell you… *sigh*

Anyway, after the concert was over, the guy with the Humanoid sign showed up again. We asked how long we had, and he said 15 mins. So I hurried like hell to buy a tour-tshirt for me and a tour-crewneck for [Bad username or unknown identity: ”omgwtfskittles”], since she’d asked me to. Then hurried back just in time.

I figured we’d have to wait somewhere since the Tokio Hotel boys were probably sweaty as hell from the show and needed a drink and yeah… You know? And I was right. We were lead out and to a corner in the stairs, where we had to wait. Gladly I could sit down in the stairs there, because hooo boy… My leg HURT at this point.

And again, waiting… Then we were ushered to another spot, to wait some more. This time right outside a pair of doors. And according to those that had been at the pre show M&G it had been there you got to meet them. I found a folded table to lean on to get some weight off my legs, which helped, and then we waited again.

Eventually we got let into a room, that I think was used as a bar even if it wasn’t right then. There were a little stage there with four chairs and in front of that chairs in rows for us to sit on. We got told our dos and don’ts. We could ask the TH boys anything we wanted, it was up to them if they wanted answer. Just be respectful. (Makes sense.) We were NOT allowed to take photos or film them during the Q&A. I get that. It would be hella annoying for the boys otherwise, I can imagine.

So the questions started to be fired off. I can’t remember all. Some of the fans there were taking notes. One asked about the nakedness and possible vag in one of their new videos, which Bill just said they wanted a lot of naked skin that video. Another asked Gustav how it was to be a father and touring. He answered that it was tough to be away from his little one and to miss her progress and development. Bless him. I totally get you, Gustav.

I got to ask a question to! :-D I asked how they felt about having fans that are so much older then them. Sometimes twice their age. Since I can be quite self conscious about that myself. :-P Bill answered that, and said they loved all their fans (obviously), and that it didn’t matter what age they are. And he said that that is the awesome thing about music. That it connects people regardless of age. Then he asked how old I was to ask such a question. So I said 40 years old. And Bill said that I can’t be 40 years old, since I certainly don’t look it! And the other three agreed with him. Well, I said it was true I am 40 years old and thanked him very much and pretty much died of happiness right there. *LOL*

After that it was time for photographs. So everyone had to stand in line and put their things away in one end of the big room, which we did. Quite a few of the girls went nuts and started fixing with their makeup and what not. I checked mine and made sure I didn’t have lipstick on my teeth, but that was all. After a concert where you sing and dance, you can’t help but be a bit of a mess. ;-)

Then a looooong line formed. Dude. The patience and professionalism of the Tokio Hotel boys is amazing. They looked just as happy with each and every fan that came up to them. And this was not the first VIP M&G thing they’d done. And not the last. After a long concert. Wow.

Eventually though it was mine turn. My goal was to get a hug from Gustav. He’s the drummer and my favorite. I wanted to tell him so, since I know for a fact he doesn’t have a huge amount of fans among the band-fans. First you were getting a selfie and then you got lined up with the boys for a professional photo. It was very quick, since they boys know what they’re doing.

My turn I walked up to them, heart beating. (They’re really real!) Gustav was closest and came over to show where to stand. So I told him. Said he’d been my favorite of the band for years (so very true) and that I thought he was amazing. (Wanted to say more, but nerves and time-restraint!) He gave me one of them WONDERFUL smiles and said thank you very much! It sounded sincere. Before me most girls had wanted selfies with just the twins, so the G’s had to step aside a lot. Or just Bill. And for the professional photo, they wanted to have the twins in the middle to hold on to them. Me? I asked if Gustav and Georg would mind being in the middle and in the selfie with me? Sure! they both said. And Gustav gave me half a hug leading me to the mark on the floor. (DEAD, guys! SO DEAD!!!) Then at first Georg and Gustav didn’t know who would take the selfie (Tom usually does when it’s the whole band or just him and Bill.) After a moment though, Georg took my phone and snapped a selfie with me standing in the middle of my favorite boys! (My heart was probably somewhere on the moon by that point.) Then the twins stepped in to and the professional photo was taken. Me in the middle with Georg on one side and Gustav on the other, hand somewhere near my back as far as I could feel. (Did I mention very dead?) And then the twins on each side of them. After that they thanked me for coming to the concert and I left to the next in line could go.

It was all very fast, but man oh man… GOAL REACHED! It was an awkward half hug, but I HAD GUSTAV SCHÄFARS ARM AROUND ME! That boy got MUSCLE, yo!

My leg was an achey mess as I limped over and got the gift that was included in the Humanoid VIP package. A Dream Machine poster with all them boys signature on. And a scarf that said ‘HIGH AS FUCK’ on it. Apparently that’s something Bill said at some point. I’m a bad fan. I’m not sure when, why or how. It’s a nice quality scarf though! Will be great for winter!

I hung out a bit afterwards, outside the doors, with some other fans. Among other a sweet girl that had kept me company in the line before the concert. It was nice to geek out and squee together with others that would understand, you know? So that was awesome.

Eventually though I came to the conclusion I needed to return to the hotel or I wouldn’t be able to walk at all… And I’d gotten very tired after all that.

So I limped, even slower, back to the hotel. And thanked my lucky stars it was that close. *lol*

And even though I’d taken pain meds and was tired, I was to wired to fall asleep right away. I think I spent an hour or two sitting on Twitter and Instagram, just posting photos and short clips from the concert. Just to wind down. :-) After that though, I was able to fall asleep.

Next day I had a lovely morning, just taking it easy in the hotel having breakfast and packing. Didn’t stress even a little bit. :-) I’d ordered a cab in plenty of time, so when I’d gotten to Stockholm Central Station I still had to wait nearly an hour for the train. Which was nice, actually. I like being on train stations.

So yeah, that was my trip to Stockholm and seeing Tokio Hotel live and meeting them. :-D

Here’s the selfie with Georg and Gustav:

Happy me with G's! )

And here’s the professional photo that was taken:

Happy me with ALL Tokio Hotel boys! )

I actually think I look sorta nice in them! The boys look perfect as always, but no surprise there!

Fun Swedish Number calls, watching TV, family, work, fangirling, Prince...

I promised to say if I got any fun calls on The Swedish Number as a random swede. And I did some time ago actually. While doing dishes. In my pajamas. X-D

I had made myself available to take calls, and I got a call. And it was from a radio station in Paraguay. And I was suddenly live talking on the air.

...

Yes, I'm not even kidding. X-D We had a bit of a language problem since I couldn't speak spanish and they could barely speak english! *LOL* But we made do, and it worked out moderately fine. They wanted to know why I was taking calls, if I thought it was fun. Approximately where I lived in Sweden (so they could look on a map) and the best things I could recommend about Sweden (NATURE, NATURE, NATURE! And Allemansrätten!).

That was a FUN call! The guys were really cute. One of them could speak moderately well english. And I found out he'd learned it from movies. In particular, the Star Wars movies. Apparently such a big fan, he was called Jedi. Ha ha ha! SO AWESOME! They tracked my twitter down after I gave the name to them, so now I know what the station is called. Mandiorama! A bunch of true gentlemen, to be quite honest! So if you know spanish, well... ;-)

Here's their twitter: @Mandiorama and their Facebook: Mandiorama.

Since then I haven't taken that many calls, though. :-P I've amused myself to catch up on the the swedish TV show Let's Dance instead, which is the swedish version of Dancing with the stars. :-) It's very campy and cheesy and filled with clichés, but I can't help but love it.

I also follow a very nice documentary series that try to understand the many many beggers from Romania we have here in the city were I live, Borås. It has become a problem, and the question is HOW to help all these people the best? The documentary series is not saying it has an answer, it just wants to show that these are people too, they have a reason for being here and have lives like everyone else. It's gut-wrenching to watch, but important to, I believe.

What's more been going on? Not much. After Alexandra's run in with high fevers and that fever cramp, things has been going on as normal with her. Nothing strange there.

We visited mom and celebrated her birthday, which was GREAT! :-D When I asked mom what she wanted she said she wanted socks. OK then! The woman wanted socks, she’ll get socks. *LOL* So I bought a lot of fun ones from SockDreams. Made me giggle, and I knew mom would love it. :-)

Only problem was that for some reason they had some problem in the US, namely LA, when the package was to be shipped, so I didn’t get it until it was too late. And I’d ordered it with plenty time to! So she got some flowers instead and we decided she’d get her gift when next we meet.

Two days after we got home, her socks arrived. Which Alexandra thought was so much fun, so day after they’d arrived she decided that we were going to post grandma a package with her socks. *LOL* And Alexandra was SOOOO DETERMINED! So we wrapped them up, we sorta wrote a letter and after dinner we went to the nearest post office and posted it. Alexandra thought it was SO MUCH FUN!

Alexandra and the package to grandma! )

Silly girl. *lol* Mom loved to get a surprise package though, so I’d call it a success. :-)

Work, well… it’s insane as ever. Preparations for our move from our temporary premises is in full swing behind the scenes. I’ve seen furniture and shelves for the new library presented from four companies, and it looks wonderful. Once everyone else have decided what company they like the most, it’ll be decided and work to start furnish the school and library will start. This a slow process though, and I’m already stressed over August when school starts up again. (That’s healthy… not.) I’m really looking forward to have a totally fresh and new library though! :-D

When not working I’m totally fangirling online like always. A lot of time goes to roleplaying with @Duodeathstar. And to help [livejournal.com profile] tattooofhername with her MASSIVE fic Transition! Dark, so very dark a fic. But DAMN! It’s SO GOOD! Proud to be a part of that. :-D

Talking off fandom’s and such, one of my new friends on my friendslist, [livejournal.com profile] denorios, has written SUCH an interesting piece of meta on the evolution of fandoms. And it’s SO GOOD! You need to go read it stat! Who is the best fan? The one who followed the band/actor before they were popular? Or the fans that just discovered them? Or are ALL fans just as good? ;-)

What are your thoughts on the evolution of fandom?

You can probably guess my view on the matter. ;-)

Sad thing lately, and well… All of 2016 is all the artistic icons that keep dying this year. Latest in the list is Prince who died last night (my time).
He was such an amazing artist and seemed to have been an amazing human being to. I’m quite sure he’ll be greatly missed. Not only by fans, but family I’m sure.

Here’s Prince’s halftime show from SuperBowl 2007, which is so damn impressive. Pouring rain, lightning and thunder… And what does he do? Rock on in one hell of a halftime show on a slick stage with electric lights, playing several electric guitars and walking around on crazy high heels. The man rocked. Hands down.

Christmas-spirit? Eh... No.

I don't know what it is with my Christmas-spirit this year, but I gotta say. I have none.

I've been working my ASS off trying to fix Christmas-gifts for everyone. Usually I buy on online-auctions, used and new stuff. Also websites and such. But I was a bit late doing that, so... All arrived though, in the nick of time. I wrapped what was supposed to be the last one tonight.

Except one hasn't arrived. [livejournal.com profile] peting73's hasn't arrived. So.... Slightly pissed off about that. And I ordered it the 2nd of December to! So I wasn't THAT late...

And I've tried to keep the apartment clean, and well... I've sorta managed that. In between Alexandra's temper tantrums. Oh yeah, she has started with those now.

Night between Thursday-Friday she stayed up from 1:30am to 5am. I'd gone to bed at 1am. Then she wakes up at 7am again, and we're home alone since [livejournal.com profile] peting73 is at work.

I was not a happy momma then. Gladly I had a sleep in both Friday morning and Saturday morning, since it was LARP-time for me this weekend!

But... I stayed up until 4am Saturday morning either way, so didn't sleep to much then either. Helped a friend with some stuff online then, even if... Well. Friend it feels like I'm in a drama with, so... I don't know. Worried like FUCK about her while at the same time I'm driven up the wall.

Long story there, not going into it.

Add to that that my OTHER really good friend online has gone MIA lately, and what with her suffering from a permanent disease, that kinda worries me... a lot.

I've sent off a ton of packets and christmas-cards today, so they'll be late, but they're on the way, so... perhaps call it a New Years card instead, maybe? *shrug*

Usually I have a shit-ton of spoons, but this christmas? Feels like there are no spoons left, wth? What is this with me lately?

[livejournal.com profile] peting73 does offer to help, but I don't know what to tell him. I just SEE what needs to be done during the day, and he... don't. And it's hard to make a list of things that I do during the day, especially during Christmas.

And next year we'll have a gathering here on the 23ed instead of going to [livejournal.com profile] peting73s mom like we'll do tomorrow... Oh, I do NOT look forward to that. Well, I do, but not the preparations for it. With Alexandra a year older to. Oh gawd...

Well, this was a chipper post, wasn't it?

Guh.

I'll just go to bed and pull something old and ugly over me. Like my cover.

And I haven't even painted my nails. *RAGE*

And after all that...

We haven't done much here after vacation and birthday. :-) We basiclly have a vacation from our vacation. X-D *lol*

I did go downtown today though. Took Alexandra with me. She loves going around in her pram looking at people and everything. It was nice. :-) We checked out a pretty new pizza-restaurant and I bought myself new shoes and a new bra. :-)

Running shoes. EXPENSIVE running shoes! O.o I bought them in a store where both orthopaedist and physiotherapists work to make sure you get the right shoe for you. [livejournal.com profile] peting73, his best friend Kiltfan and two friends from the LARP told me they might be expensive at that store, but damn... It is worth every krona to get a shoe there.

So I went there. Had to walk on a special treadmill where they could see HOW I walk (urgh.. I got to see, not pretty...) and what kind of shoes I needed. I figured I'd get shoes in some neon-colour, since that is the kind of running shoes I always see. I got to try two pairs on, and then walk on the weird treadmill again, twice with both shoes so he could see which ones would fit me better. And then he packed a pair up and paid.

They were black. X-D *laughs ass off* How very perfect. They got shoelaces neon-yellow, but still. Black for the goth! X-D

Expensive like FUCK though! 1500 krona = 217 USD... o.O And those were one of the cheaper running shoes there! Geezes...

The bra I bought in a underwear-store specialized in bras was crazy comfy keeping things from jiggling when running and not quite as expensive... 600 krona = 87 USD.

Anyway. I'll re-start my running-regime, Couch25K and hopefully with these shoes and this bra? It'll be a ton easier. :-) I am hopefull and very determined. :-)

ALIVE!!! And all over the place...

I am alive! I promise! Hard to believe, I know. Since I am behind on EVERYTHING! ARGH! But I am.

Alexandra sure has kept us busy during the evenings lately. In one way I am happy [livejournal.com profile] peting73 now work day times, since then I get help dealing with her, but geezes girl! o.O She refuses to fall asleep! It is damn impossible! And if we try to put her to bed, or lay her down in our laps she just cries and screams and cries... *sigh* Around 11pm. After some more food. THEN she falls asleep, exhausted. I wonder what this thing of hers is lately... Seriously... Gladly she still sleeps until morning, so at least that is a small favor. :-P

I've managed to fix ALL the Christmas gifts! WOHOO! As long as they get mailed here... :-P I won two auctions from the same person 3d of December... paid them to. And he has still to send them to me. WTF??? I checked to. He has good feedback to, so I don't know what is going on there... Tried to call him today, but the line was busy. :-/ Annoying. Those two are the last gifts to get here and get wrapped. :-P

Oh, and to top it off? I got my first menstrual cramps from HELL yesterday since I got pregnant! ARGH!!! And here I thought getting pregnant and getting a kid would make sure my Endometriosis would be lighter and easier to deal with... HA HA HA HA!!! Apparently not. Fuck. Eating strong painmeds and I do have a Doc-appointment on Monday. If I can get back on the pill or get a intrauterine device with hormones, then that would help. I've heard it has helped others, and I know going on the pill helps tons. I just wanna do a checkup first to see what damage is done on my insides after the pregnancy and if I have new cysts spreading around in there or not... :-P

Fun times all around.

I actually am a lot happier then it looks here. :-) I LOVE Christmas, and have put up my Santa-army all over the apartment, and some Christmas angels to. :-) It looks wonderful. There's plenty snow to, which is just AWESOME! It came a lot of snow and it became REALLY cold very fast this winter so that was awesome!

And the most awesome, most amazing, most magical thing of all....

Ella-Bella, my wonderful globe trotting cousin is coming home this Christmas! :-D I haven't seen her in FOUR YEARS, people! :-D I am so happy about this, you wouldn't believe! FOUR YEARS!!! Oh GOSH! I have bought her a very sweet gift, but the biggest gift is just to be able to meet each other, and for her to meet Alexandra for the first time! *excited*

On a fandom note, me and [livejournal.com profile] snowstormskies have worked on and we've posted and discussed Let Us Hear You, Let Us Feel You (also at[livejournal.com profile] hydrafics). We don't have many readers on it, but the readers we DO have are quite faithful, I'd say. :-) Such LOVELY reviews and comments we get on it. So, if any of you readers are here... THANK YOU!!! Your comments are worth sooo much to us! There we go for pretty much writing a fanfic with the rarest pairing in the fandom.... *lol* Oh well. :-) We wrote what we wanted to read, so there. :-D

Also, they'll be late, but I'll make a post about Christmas-cards (with added candy) after this post... so if you want Swedish candy, let me know in my next post! :-D

As always, if you wanna stalk me, you can find me on my Twitter and on my Plurk at all times. ;-)

A silly worry?

My MIL is a bit funny, really... I love her to death, I really do... Apart from one thing.

She thinks she is a bother when she comes to visit... What? Me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 are so hospitable it is almost ridicoulus. We are not bothered. You wanna visit us, you are MORE then welcome to do so! Just give us 5-10mins head-start so we are dressed and have the coffeepot on. And mind the dust-bunnies when you get here. You are NOT a bother! Period!

Also, Alexandra only got Grandma and Grandma... No grandfathers... My father is dead and well, [livejournal.com profile] peting73s is missing in action... Long story, but he is not around. And that's that. Not to mention my mother lives 2 hours away. [livejournal.com profile] peting73 lives on the other side of town. It takes her 20-30mins to get here. Tops! Sure, I am not saying she HAS to come here every day. Not saying that. But she visited when [livejournal.com profile] peting73 had his birthdayparty beginning of November... and today we called her and said we'll come visit her, since we hadn't seen each other in long. Like... almost a month.

Alexandra is her ONLY grandchild. [livejournal.com profile] peting73 her only son. Sure, they are not as close as I am with my family, but still? And there'll be no more kids here. My Endometriosis have made sure of that.

Am I to harsh? I don't know... I just... I don't know. I want Alexandra to have her grandmother around when growing up. I did, both, and I wouldn't be who I am today without them. And if it is like this already? :-/ *feels silly but a wee bit worried*

Anyhow, I am almost done with my Christmas-shopping, which kinda shocks me. o.O I didn't think I'd finish off this quickly, but seriously? Just happy about it! :-D Long live online-shopping! Just saying. :-D

I think I'll do the last of it next week. And as always, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 is the one giving me the worst head-ache! X-D I think I've done good though, and found gifts that'll make people happy with me. :-) I hope. I just need more wrapping paper now... *lol*

Between cats and babies...

Been trying to do some Christmas shopping online today. Went so so... I did do some the other day, but today I apparently failed. :-P At least I've started. That's something, right?

[livejournal.com profile] peting73 is definitely doing better. Even if improvement is slow... which is annoying him to no end. So fun times ahead! He said he feels a bit locked in being at home, but really... Moving is good for him as long as he takes it easy doing so and not overdoing it... or so the Doc said. Hopefully I can get him to join me and Alexandra on our little activities that we have this week. Problem is, they are during the early day/mornings... at which time [livejournal.com profile] peting73 is feeling somewhat ill before his meds have kicked in. So we'll see. It would be good for him though to get out of the apartment. Today he got out of bed, had food and meds, and went back to bed... not getting out of there until around 2pm... o.O So yeah...

Alexandra has been a good girl though... She isn't the one waking me up early in the mornings. She usually wakes up between 7:30-8am. The cats, however... is a whole other story. Especially Verdandi, damn her... She likes to cuddle in bed with us, right? Totally cool. I love having our cats snuggle up to us in bed! But she is a fat lazy one... Even though all doors are open here, she scratches the bedroom door which wakes us up... getting us up from bed... and she won't stop until we pick her up and put her in bed between us. She walks around, settles for scratches and snuggles... jumps down after a bit... and the moment I've ALMOST fallen asleep she scratches the door again... until I get up, pick her up... put her in the bed... give her cuddles... And rinse and repeat... She did this FOUR TIMES between 5:30-7:50am this morning! o.O GAWD DAMMIT CAT! And juuuuust when I'd ALMOST fallen asleep again at 8am... Alexandra woke up, hungry like only a baby can be. *face-palm*

If JUST Verdandi could stop her damn nonsense, I'd get enough sleep, no problem! GAH!

LJ-shenanigans, links and life today...

Ugh, ugh... I wonder if it is ironic that LJ-drama is making me post more on LJ?

Anyhoddle!

Some more news on them changes right HERE: LJ News, straight from Russia. Some very interesting stuff posted there...

And here's a great poll that I HOPE the LJ-team gets to look at at some point: A very topical LJ-poll...

Blah, blah... :-/ Troublesome LJ-team... Indeed troublesome. First time I've gotten upset with them, to be honest...

Onwards to something more fun! Just to balance out the boring.

Got this link from [livejournal.com profile] ruchirahni. And apparently Sweden and swedes are good at something! :-D Sweden to import garbage as trash supplies run dry. I had no idea to be honest! *lol* *continues to recycle*

She also gave me this link and I will now promptly kill my wallet by shopping to much on that site: My Baby Rocks! Punk baby clothes. On the good side, at least Alexandra will look good. *lol*

Today we were visiting the LARP, me [livejournal.com profile] peting73 and Alexandra. Unfortunally it didn't go so well. :-/ Alexandra has been a very well behaved baby. She is very relaxed with being with other people, sitting in their lap and such. But... Not this evening, apparently.

She was calm and curious for about... half an hour or so. Then she started to cry and scream and such... and no matter WHAT me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 did, she just wouldn't stop. Nothing worked. Cuddles, kisses, pacifiers... my boobs... Nothing. :-/ So we had to pack up early and go home. I didn't even get a chance to talk to my dear friends! What a bust. And we won't have a chance to go there in a month, so I was quite sad about it, while also worried about Alexandra. Since she was very fussy and cried easily at home to. We finally got her to sleep this evening, but it wasn't easy. :-/ Sure she has had a stuffy nose for about a week that just won't give up on her, but.. yeah. :-/ I've never seen her be so angry and sad in her short life, to be honest.

I hope Alexandra will be in a better mood tomorrow, since both my mom and [livejournal.com profile] peting73s mom will come over then. :-) Grandma party! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Photos all over the place! My belly! Nerd Jr's room! And stuff!

This is going to be a photospam of some proportions, people... So prepare yourself! :-D

I've been asked several times for photos of my belly... and of Nerd Jr's room. So that's what I'll be sharing. :-D I just took some photos today, actually, after I'd finished off preparing various frostings for the cupcakes and the macarons tomorrow. :-) [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit should be proud. She made the cupcakes and macarons for me, and I've made the frostings and fillings. :-) I also made a huge spong-cake that I'll pour glaze over tomorrow. :-) I'll try to remember to take photos of the huge table filled with sweets tomorrow! :-D

ANYHOW!

Here's the little photo-spam of today.

Photos and such under here!  )

So now you've all seen our preparations and the room and my belly and all the stuff. :-) I know we've done a lot of preparations, but to be honest... it has been over such a long time, we haven't really thought about it. :-) We started to plan the room when we found out that the IVF worked and I was, in fact, pregnant. Then after a few months (early spring I think) we fixed the room up. And then we've just filled it with stuff a little at a time since. :-) Of course, mom and [livejournal.com profile] peting73s mom has brought a lot of stuff to (mostly clothing), so we aren't the only guilty ones of filling the room up! *lol* I think Nerd Jr will be perfectly fine in that room!

And fun thing is, when [livejournal.com profile] peting73 was a young boy he and his mom used to live right here in this apartment! And Nerd Jr's room? Used to be [livejournal.com profile] peting73s boy bedroom! X-D Life has come full circle... *grin*

An historical outing! And other stuff...

I will admit that I have had a really really good weekend. :-) [livejournal.com profile] peting73 took an extra day off, so he's been home Thursday - Sunday. It's been great!

Thursday we didn't do much. Just hung around at home... But on Friday though! We got busy! *lol* Well, not extremely busy. :-) We got up in a sorta resonable hour, and went to IKEA to shop the last for Nerd Jr. :-) Last time we were there we forgot the highchair for Nerd Jr, so we bought that, and some other smaller stuff for Nerd Jr. AND! Since both our office chairs that we use when sitting at our computers had both given up on us... (Thanx cats for clawing big holes in them...) We splurged and got a new office-chair each. :-) REALLY COMFY! And so much better for my back... :-) So that was definitely a successful trip!

When we got home we went to a store called Babyproffsen (= Babyproffesionals, sorta) where we bought a babysitter (black of course!) and a babycarrier/babysling as well. :-)

A productive day, and I'd say we are definitely prepared for Nerd Jr's arrival whenever she/he decides to show up. ;-) (There's a lot off poking around in there right now... Especially at my ribs and the bladder... Bah. :-P Not appreciated, kid!)

On Saturday though we went on an outing with [livejournal.com profile] peting73s mom. :-) There is a medieval old house/castle not long from this city, and I've been scolded more then once for the fact I haven't been there yet. I mean, I've lived in this city since 2001, that's more then 10 years... And I still hadn't seen it, despite the fact I am a HUGE medivial history nerd. *lol* So that is somewhat fail, I'd say.

So Saturday it was time! And we went there, took about 30mins drive, so no biggie. :-) And it was SO NICE! The house was very well kept! It's been owned by the same family since around 1300 or so, and has been used for living since then until the 1800's... after that it was used to store corn and grain etc... which was actually quite good! It keept the old stonehouse dry and preserved all the wall paintings and such! :-D

There's a lot of grounds for this house to, and it is STILL run as a big farm! So at the restaurant all the food they serve there? Is produced on their own farm. It was AMAZINGLY good! My gosh... MIL bought us some really yummy lunch there after we'd gone on a tour of the house and also explored it on our own. :-)

The house is called Torpa Stenhus. Do a google image search for it, and you'll see some gorgeous photos of that house/castle. :-) I loved it. So so interesting! Living and breathing history at it's best, seriously. :-)

Then today, Sunday we lazed about during the day, and then on the afternoon I finally got my ass in gear when getting some unexpected energy boost... and did some cleaning here. Since I'll be celebrating my birthday on Saturday, I figured I wanted the apartment at least moderately clean, so... :-) I've started at least, and will continue tomorrow! :-D

A meme! (Including books, kid and vampires!)

I got this meme from [livejournal.com profile] whichclothes. :-) I am a bit late answering it, but I think it was a bit fun still, so here goes. Anyone can join in, of course!

Comment to this post saying "FIVE!" and I will pick five things I would like you to talk about. They might make sense or be totally random.

Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself, hopefully for the rest of eternity!

These are the five things [livejournal.com profile] whichclothes picked for me. :-)

Favorite summer activity

My favorite thing to do at summer... Hmm.... I love, LOVE going to various coffee-shops/coffeehouses to have a fika* out in the sun... Or just sit on a blanket in the shadow and read a book... I am not hugely fond of sunbathing and such. I don't like that. But to just enjoy the sun, with a cup of tea or just a cold drink and a nice cinnamon bun... Yeah. That is lovely... Or sit listening to the sound of people and the sound of the trees in the park, while reading a book... Love that to.

I also love going for swims in lakes and such. :-) Love that. I might not be a sexy model in my bikini, but fuck that! I wanna swim! Or just play around in the water. :-) One NEVER gets to old for that!

(*Read more about the swedish tradition with fika HERE!)

Children's books your kid must have

That is sorta easy to answer. :-)

Of course, as many Astrid Lindgren books as possible! :-D I love her work and it is so perfect! Of course, those are for when Nerd Junior gets a lil older, but... say when she/he is just starting to read or just before... 6-7 years old? That's when Astrid Lindgren is perfect. Before that? Lots and lots of Disney. Me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 has a huge collection of Disney picture-books each, and we've both decided to give them all to Nerd Jr. So that is a good start. There'll probably be A LOT of the swedish comicbook character Bamse as well, he is such a perfect character for small kids. I read the Bamse comic and the Kalle Anka & Co (Donald Duck & Co) comic when I was a kid. I have a sneaky suspicion I'll transfer that to Nerd Jr. More then that though, I'll most likely bring Nerd Jr to the library with regularity and just let her/him lose among the books. Let kid pick whatever. And we'll read that. :-) Picture books, and whatever she/he wants. I don't think one should control kids to much when it comes to books. Just show what there is to pick from. :-)

Vampires

Ah yes... Vampires... What is there to say? *lol* I love vampires. :-) One of my favorite movies, and one of the first with vampires I saw, is the old Interview with the vampire. I saw it plenty of times in the movie-theaters and feel head over heels in love with the whole thing and the universe it showed. Read the book to. The whole thing with the society of vampires living hidden... where humans can't see... It intrigued me. :-) Very much. There is just something sexy about it. Not to mention the way a vampire feeds is very very sexy to, I'd say.

Anyway, after watching more vampire movies (Bram Stoker's Dracula among others), I moved here... for study. And found other people also intrigued with vampires... that actually played vampires at a very very active vampire-LARP! The setting for said LARP was just what I had been intrigued with... vampires ruling the world, hidden from human eyes using their various vampiric powers for their own gain.... To say I was hooked from the start would be an understatement! I've been involved in said LARP since 2001, and I don't plan to stop any time soon!

Vampires as a whole, as mythological creatures have so so much to give. It is just a sad sad thing to see what Twilight and the books following in it's wake have done with the vampire-myth. Now they are not the monster anymore using their sex appeal to draw their victims to them to do whatever dark and twisted thing they want with said victim. Oh no. Now they are all romantic types who are burdened with a dark past. *sigh* It annoys me. It really does.

What you'd do with fifty thousand euros

I'll be honest and boring here. I'd pay of all my student loans... and if there were anything left, I'd put it into savings. Maybe put some away for Nerd Jr to. Fun, eh? :-P

Shoes

I have a love/hate-relationship with shoes. Honestly. I have big feet. No really. Not very ladylike. I have a size 42 Europesize (UK: 7½, US: 10). AKA, I have BIG feet... So buying shoes for women, is a pain in the ass. There are none. I have to go to specialty stores or order from the net... There is a reason why I love unisex shoes, like Doc Martens or Converse (for summer). You can get ALL sizes in those. :-)

This on the other hand mean... I have a lot of shoes. Because on the very rare occasion where I actually find shoes that are not Docs or Converse? I buy them. I always do. Since I never know when next I'll find shoes that fit. Meaning I have a lot of shoes. That I barely use. Crazy. :-P

Long meme is long?

Big spring market was on downtown today, so me and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit checked it out. I bought clothing for Nerd Jr and some candy for me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73. It was his cash, so... ;-) It's been a good day. Not much else going on. :-)

Have a meme! I snagged this from [livejournal.com profile] thilia. Very... random meme, I gotta say... *lol*

Insanity, vampires, work, books, perviness, librarians... and some...

I just get caught up with my f-list.... and then life and World of Warcraft happened and I slipped behind again. Dammit.

Maybe I have to big an f-list... Hmm... Nah! X-D

ANYWAY!

I... don't have that much to tell about me, actually. Working as usual. At least all them hours I get. And when I don't, I play World of Warcraft and read fanfic. :-D Like a proper nerd! *lol*

Was LARP this Saturday... which was the Halloween themed LARP. Now, considering the LARP is pretty twisted usually, you can just imagine how twisted it got close to Halloween... X-D The Seven Deadly Sins happened.... Chutulus little brother happened... My characters dog got killed... and my character nearly got eaten... twice. X-D Interesting times, interesting times. So even though I had a blast, my character most certainly did not. *lol* It was awesome to play on so many emotions though!

Only problem was that I didn't get home until 5am Sunday morning. o.O Less good.

Especially since me and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit was to hang out... But it solved itself with her coming here. Since I was to knocked out to have any energy to go anywhere. *lol* I managed to give her advice on what glasses to buy though! Since I got new ones not that long ago, I do understand the angst involved in getting new ones... TRUST ME! Ugh... Such a nerve-wrecking decision. :-P Can't wait to see which pair she choose in the end. :-)

And of course we talked... and talked... and talked... X-D We've come to the conclusion there is probably no subject we HAVEN'T covered. He he he... We also ordered nail polish from Konad Nails UK. I've been using regular nail-polish to stap my nails with, but it just... don't go so well all the time. :-P So now we bought some stamping-polish, hoping it will go better with that. :-) So shopping!

I did some shopping today to. For [livejournal.com profile] peting73, since he soon has his birthday. It got damn expensive though! o.O So he'll get half for his birthday and half for Christmas. Good in one way since that means I have fixed both gifts in one go! Brilliant!

I have so much weird, fun and interesting stuff I've collected and wanted to share with my flist, so I'll just get going and do just that. :-)

Found this site since someone tweeted about it on Twitter... and I must say. It is blood brilliant. :-)

Genderfork.Com - Beauty in ambiguity

In the spirit of Halloween, THIS was fucking brilliant! :-D

Famous monsters as 1920's jazz girls...

Talking of Halloween... This little movie/vid is just.... Brilliant. X-D I did chuckle quite a bit while watching this.

Living with Lovecraft )

I am also following a blog not on LJ... well, I follow a lot of non-LJ blogs, but this one is pretty cool. It is a goth librarian, Librarian In Black, in the US writing about her work as a librarian. She is really really brilliant... and now she has found out some... less then nice news about Amazon and Overdrive... and she is telling it like it is. She is insanely intelligent, but the discussion she holds is damn interesting. :-) Check it out!

Libraries got screwed by Amazon and Overdrive!

Then Neil Gaiman, who we all knows is quite fucking awesome, did this drive for Halloween this year... All Hallows Read! :-D

Neil Gaiman Explains All Hallow's Read! )

And for Halloween you need some magic, right? And who said technology took away magic? This guy is just... amazing! :-D

iPod Magician - Marco Tempest )

And lastly a very VERY VERY NSFW vid... No really. I am not joking. If you are the least bit sensitive to gay sex jokes, DO NOT WATCH! If, however, you are a perv with weird sense of humour... like me, then watch. *lol* X-D

The Ultimate Showdown of Homosexuality...

Alright. Got an appointment early in the morning, so going to bed now...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

To all those that celebrate it! :-)

Have a happy Halloween!

Games and Meme - A touching moment...

Been working today for four hours, and it went quite well... until the end off it when my throat hurt SO BAD! Once home though I DRENCHED IT in tea, and now I am fine again. I think it was because I put strain on it talking so much with visitors helping them find books and such.... So, yeah. Apparently the throat is sensitive still, even if it is on the mend. I hope it'll get better and better now. I think it is. :-)

Also, our electric kettle died on us the other day... just when I had gotten into my tea-craze... (Which still have me do WTF-faces at myself...) So I bought a new shiny one today. :-) Now it is easier ot continue my tea-insanity. :-P

And.... I ordered a new game. Since I have the first one already, and damm... if I don't love it... And I didn't know there was a part two... And just found out. Dude. These games... SO FUCKING AWESOME!

American McGee's Alice...

Alice in Wonderland... on crack. No seriously. The phrase: "We're all mad here..." takes on a WHOLE new meaning!

The quality ain't very good, but here is the trailer for the original game:

American McGee's Alice Official Trailer... )

It is a very tricky... and very sick... little game. I love it. I still have it and play it now and then. Also, Cheshire Cat in that game? He fucking rules. )

Yes, I have contemplated to get a tattoo with that cat now and then...

ANYWAY! I didn't know it, but apparently in July this year.... A new game was released.

Alice: Madness returns. o.O

And I found the trailer. Showed it to [livejournal.com profile] peting73. And we both looked at each other, and he was just: "Order it." We both ADORED the first game, so there was no question about us wanting the second one. And judging by the trailer...? It will be even MORE insane!

Alice: Madness Returns Trailer )

So we just ordered it. AND Sons of Anarchy Season 2. (I do so VERY much recommend that TV-show!). So we can sit here and go all fangirl/boy over that series. It really is awesome.

Now I can't wait for that package to show up!

ANYWAY! Meme!

30 days of me meme... )

Day 17 – Your favorite memory

Oh good gawd... I have so many WONDERFUL memories, it is hard to pick just one... o.O Anyway, I'll try to, 'K?

First one that jumps out at my mind is the moment I returned home after a year in the USA. My plane was delayed from Boston... but I did catch my plane in New York... but that was delayed as well... which in turn made me miss my flight in Amsterdam. I had to wait there for four or five hours, I think. At this point, my mother has told me, she my father and my brother was already waiting in Gothenburg for me complete with a huge bouquet of roses. Checking with information though, they found out my flight was delayed and went to have dinner while waiting. This was in March. In Manschester, New Hampshire, where I'd spent my year, it was already warm almost like in summer... In Sweden it had been a snowstorm, so there was a lot of snow and it was cold as hell. Anyway, so there they were, waiting for me... and me? Well, I slept on the marble floor of the big airport in Amsterdam with my feet on one bag and my head on another... when awake I was listening to people speak swedish... something I hadn't heard for a year.

Finally I was on the plane and continued my travel, four or five hours late. The flight from Amsterdam to Gothenburg was uneventful, and then I touched down on swedish soil after one year and one month away from my country. I remember I was SO nervous! And giddy. And excited. And just... so much emotion, I remember... Walking through customs, finding all my luggage... I could hear someone shouting my name, and looking up, I saw my family... Mom, Dad, my brother waving and shouting at me like idiots... :-D Standing on some sort of ledge where they could look down on the arrivals. And I did just the same... Shouting up at them, jumping up and down! I saw my Dad taking a photo off me, and then we just raced to the doors... I had to stop and deal with a customs officer of course, before I could finally throw myself in the arms of my family!

We were crying and laughing, and mom handed me her wilting bouquet of roses and we laughed at it and we hugged and kissed some more. I even got hugs and kisses from my brother, and he is NOT a hugging person normally! :-D He teased me, saying he could look down on me now, I remember. And it was true! When I had left for the US a year earlier I was taller then him! When I returned he was taller then me! :-) It was very emotional and we were just happy to be together again!

This was in 1997 and I can still to this day remember it all. :-) It was a tough time for all off us that I took the decision to live in another country for so long, but it was good to. I grew up a lot, learned a lot... It was a good thing for me. :-) And my parents thought so as well, once they got over the shock. ;-)

What a BRILLIANT day!

Had SUCH a good time yesterday! I think I needed it, I really think. :-)

I went to Gothenburg a bit earlier then [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit since I wanted to just... walk around and be, just by myself. It was wonderful. Really fucking wonderful. I first went to Shock because I really fucking love that store. Didn't buy anything, but looked around. Saw some really bitching shirts with tattoo-prints on them that looked AWESOME! And was in my size to. But I didn't buy them. Checked some handbags with wicked tattooprints on them to, and some chains and shit to hang in your belt or pants. REALLY nice! :-D It is a bit expensive in that store though, so I restrained myself and didn't buy anything. :-) Onwards, I got to the store SF Bokhandeln, wish is a bookstore with just nerdy stuff, I swear to anything holy... Fantasy books, scifi books, roleplaying games and stuff used for roleplaying, collector stuff from various TV-shows and movies and games, calenders, comics, graphic novels, manga, anime, odd DVD-movies from various regions... I mean, that store is HEAVEN for a nerd! :-D Let's just say I spent quite a bit of time in there. *grin* Did some shopping to. [livejournal.com profile] peting73 had asked me to buy a game and I wanted a wall-calender for 2012. Now, I had decided to NOT buy a World of Warcraft calender, but then I looked at it, and the art this year? AWESOME! So I had to buy it anyway. *lol* So the loot from that store was World of Warcraft Wallcalender 2012, manga Lone Wolf and Cub part 8, movie Death Note, game Pirate Fluxx and Dilbert day to day calender 2012 (for [livejournal.com profile] peting73). Lovely, lovely store! I love that place so hard! :-D

Anyway, so after that I just walked around, looked at people, didn't do that much. :-) Before it was time to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit and [livejournal.com profile] chigrima. Even though [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit lives in the same town, we haven't done much together in a while, so it was AWESOME to hang out with her again, and then when [livejournal.com profile] chigrima joined the fray, the awesome just shoot through the roof! *lol* Considering [livejournal.com profile] chigrima lives on the island Gotland, we don't see her half as much as we'd liked. :-P But now she was here for the Gothenburg Book fair, so now we could hang out and talk and just be together as good friends. :-D We got the WHOLE STORY behind the new universe she and [livejournal.com profile] silvestris is creating. (My gawd... Insane and awesome... It just needs a plot and a conflict in the story, and they could write tons of books, I swear to gawd... The minds of those two women, scary scary... so much creativity.

We ended up walking the streets of Gothenburg, eating dinner and having coffee (or tons and tons of soda in my case) and talking far far into the night, so me and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit didn't get on a buss home until around 11:30pm in the middle of the night... It doesn't matter though. It was so SO worth it! :-D Hanging out with friends like this? I think it was JUST what I needed. I just wish I could meet up with [livejournal.com profile] chigrima more often. :-P It is a bit expensive to travel to Gotland though... Sadly. :-/ I really do want to visit her and [livejournal.com profile] silvestris though. To see the house they rent before they move out. IF they'll move out. We'll see, we'll see... :-P Someday... Hopefully WITH [livejournal.com profile] peting73 and our car, because that would just be practical after all. ;-)

Today, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 is gonna have an impromptu October Fest here in our apartment with his friends, drinking INSANE amounts of beer and eat a lot of weird food... I'll just run away to [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit. ;-) We'll be having a Ladydate while them men drink beer here.

The plan for us girls/ladies/woman is to drink cider and drinks and cook food together and watch the movie Thor and TRASH IT TO HELL AND BACK! X-D Because you know... We are history and mythology nerds... we now the Nordic Myths about Thor VERY well... ;-) AND we'll try and find ALL the slash potentials in said movie to. ;-) Then, when we are drunk enough we are going to go out and find a nice dance floor in a club downtown and make fools off ourselfs.... before we go back to [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit and I can collapse on her sofa bed. X-D

I like this plan. :-D I hope everyone else is having a brilliant weekend to!

As if everyone didn't know it already....

But Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe fame is... a bit crazy. X-D I follow him and Nikki Sixx on Twitter and they sure are entertaining. The other day, Tommy posted this...

Besties night! feat Tommy Lee )

LOL! X-D And no, he ain't dead since he is still posting shit!

Spent a ton of cash today. :-P Bought two pairs of pants! o.O OMG! I never buy clothes to myself, so this was a HUGE splurge! Gladly they were on sale, but still! I have two pairs of jeans that I got from mom once that I just don't feel comfortable in, so... I'll just give those to charity tomorrow. And I bought a new Filofax.... I have had mine for years, a mini-sized one. But now I can't fit in all the appointments, kid-groups and meetings and shit in it... So I have splurged and bought a new one, a bigger size. Bought it from the website even, so thats going to be interesting... Hopefully it'll get here shortly.

Ah well. Time for bed as it were. Gladly it'll be a short day tomorrow. The kids were strangely calm... Well, not CALM calm, but you know... They didn't tear the library down, which is always an improvement. So I am not quite as beat as I usually am after working Thursdays....

Cool vids... and stuff....

Been a good day at work today. I actually got shit done! Not as much as I would have liked, but some. Tomorrow I'll be in meetings nearly all day, so won't get that much stuff done then. Meh. Have to get in early at work to. :-/ On the other hand, that means I can leave work early to, so not all bad. :-)

My brother called last night, and we're invited to the birthday party of his daughter this Friday. :-D So I went to shop some stuff for her. She apparently loves Hello Kitty stuff, so I bought some clothes and a puzzle with Hello Kitty on it. :-) I hope she'll like it! (She turns four.)

Have found some stuff online that I kinda wanna share to. ;-)

This one just wins the internet with its awesome... Dragostea din tei (Numa numa numa) the opera version...

Dragostea din tei under here! With Operasingers! )

I bet the singers were on something doing this... Looks like they are having fun for sure! *laughs*

Found out about this rock band not that long ago... they are really good, reminds me some off Nightwish... Still good though. :-) And this musicvid was really nice!

My Destiny by Leave's Eyes )

Cool, wasn't it? And the 'hero' was kinda hot to. ;-)

And for something totally different... This is a really cool Angel vid... a collection or extra long trailer of you will of Season One.

Somewhere else to be... )

That song by Vast is just sooo cool... The vid is made by [livejournal.com profile] thedothatgirl and you can download it in HQ HERE if you'd like to. :-) Or at least go tell her you thought it rocked. ;-)

A bit late to the party, but lastly this... I mean who can refuse James Bond in drag... especially when he is doing it for a good cause... and listening to the words M are saying. WIN!

Equals? )

Not to mention they are damn right to...

Right. I seriously need to go to bed. Got an early morning tomorrow! *collapses*
