This is KSena

Usually a friendly sort. Be nice to me, and I am nice to you. Here I ramble on about me, life, work and fandoms. I am a fan of Robin of Sherwood, Xena: Warrior Princess, Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tokio Hotel and Sons of Anarchy. I don't apologize for anything I write here. This is my mind. And you entered it. Welcome.

Can I get a vacation from my vacation? *lol*

Anyway, to continue my story... After I'd been to the LARP that I wrote about in my last post, I had to do a quick clean in the apartment during the Monday because I was expecting some FINE visitor!

Who you might ask? Well, no other than [livejournal.com profile] snowstormskies!!! :-D

Story of the epic meeting between KSena and SnowStormSkies under here... )

All TH-fans! I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE FIC-CHALLENGE!

With that said, let me tell you what I AM talking about. :-D

I've been following the blog Shadow Manor - The Art Of Darkness for many years now, and every year when it gets close to Christmas, they have this fake gift swap. Meaning, if you could afford to, knew the recipient or even cared enough... This would be what you'd get them. :-)

I have never joined, but... WTH not, right? So here goes.

To my recipient, Cat of Spookymoon.Com!

I noticed you enjoy history and haunted buildings and things.... Since you've posted a lot about that.

So... Had I been able to, I would have given you a trip. To visit some of the most interesting and famous castles around Sweden. ;-)

We'd start at the castle closest to my home, Torpa Stenhus.

(Click for slightly bigger.)

Apparently one of the owners plastered his daughter into an alcove in the wall... alive...

Then I'd take you to Läckö Castle... where I've spent so much time when I was a kid. I love that castle.

(Click for bigger!)

Was a lot of witches burned in this castle during the witchhunts, so I am sure there's a ghost or two haunting these halls as well...

(Click for HUGE!!!)

Then we'd go to Vadstena Castle in the city Vadstena where I have relatives that we could stay with. :-)

(Click for bigger!)

Apparently the widow of Karl X of Sweden haunts the halls of Vadstena Castle...

(Click for bigger!)

Then we'd go to Gripsholms Castle, that is actually IN USE now and then by our current royal family...

(Click for bigger!)

Here's a ghost called The Grey Lady, one of the wives of Karl IX, who haunts these halls...

(Click for bigger!)

Lastly, before I let you go home again, we have the current residency of the royal family... Drottningholm Castle.

(Click for HUGE!)

There's apparently more than one ghost haunting these halls. Both the White Lady... and a Grey Man... I hope our royal family still sleeps good during the night.

(Click for HUGE!)

And that would be the last castle on the trip!

With that I say! MERRY CHRISTMAS and all that... :-)

These last few days have been... somewhat not fun. :-P I know being a parent ain't fun and games all the times, I fully expect that. But when I can't keep my eyes open when my mom comes to visit then things are quite bad. :-P I swear to anything holy, I worked so so hard to keep my eyes open and I just couldn't... I kept seeing double. Then I feel asleep for ten mins or so on her, and I felt quite bad about it. Mom didn't mind, she knows the last few days have been tough, but yeah. Not fun. :-P

Thank anything holy that [livejournal.com profile] peting73 is doing SOOOOO much better! And can start helping taking care of Alexandra... It does sound horrible, but sometimes I just wanna... be... and not be a mom. Does that make sense? Just for a few mins. :-P I haven't been able to do that these last days and that has exhausted me both mentally and physically. How the HELL do single moms do it? o.O All my respect and more!

Tomorrow I am going shopping a bit for the baptism of Alexandra on Saturday. I have TWO pair of pants that fit. And none of them are pretty... :-P So new pair of pants for me and one onesie for Alexandra that she can have under the baptisemal gown.

Oh yeah. That gown is a chapter all in itself. Full of history and oh so gorgeous. It is made from the bridal veil of my paternal grandfathers mother... My grandfather had it on his baptism, as did my father and his two brothers... My brother had it as well, and both his kids. Reason I didn't have it, was because my parents didn't marry until I was 4 years old, and my paternal grandma had some issues with that... :-P But Alexandra will be wearing that baptisemal gown. :-) It is here now, and so frail I'll probably be more nervous about that thing breaking then anything else... o.O It is over 100 years old... :-P So yeah... I'll post a photo of it in a few days. :-)

[livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit, who'll be Alexandras godmother, is also nervous as hell, since she'll hold Alexandra in that thing to! During the baptism itself. And she loves history and especially history of clothing... So yes, something that old really catches her interest and makes her nervous that she'll break it. :-)

I've prepared most things for the baptism party/feast/whatever you call it... On Thursday and Friday though I'll bake six (!) cheesecakes, since the total people coming is 30... o.O Relatives and friends... Mostly relatives from my side of the family, since there are so many there. *lol* Crazy, crazy...

Anyway!

I am glad all my Christmas cards/care packages got to the recipients as it should. :-) I didn't send as many this year, but I figured if you wanted it, you'd let me know, right? Just a few I sent to extra. :-D

I did get a laugh though when I got a thank you PM from [livejournal.com profile] melluransa... Since she'd made a video of her trying out the Swedish candy I sent... Specifically the Lakritsal. X-D I know liquorice is a very specific taste, and hence I sent the kindest one. Laktritsal is not as strong as other liquorice candy is. But still it got a pretty funny reaction from [livejournal.com profile] melluransa... X-D Thanx for the laugh you gave both me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73!

Melluransa eating Laktrisal... )

Also I found this on the net:

Why...? Yeah, that's why...  )

Which reminds me that [livejournal.com profile] peting73 soooo owes me a night out with my best friend [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit... We've seen all the other Twilight movies at the movies, so we'll be damned if we won't see Breaking Dawn Part 2 there to! (Yes, it still runs...)

I don't get it. I really and honestly do not get it...

Maybe it is because I am Swedish and a history nerd. Not to mention a lover of all things Nordic mythology. I've read those stories since I was a kid, studied them for my own amusement. Maybe that is why?

I did enjoy Thor, although I laughed my big ass off at what they'd done with all them myths (Siv? A warrior-princess? Come on... X-D Not to mention Thor's friends there, geezes...) It was fun though, and what saved the whole cracky thing was Chris Hemsworth and the fact the movie didn't take itself seriously at all.

Then Avengers and in particular Loki took over Tumblr. Having me go: Huh? What? Why? And made me curious on said movie. So, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 bought it.

We watched it yesterday, and it was fun! A really really fun action-movie, with great special effects and a great GREAT cast! Quite obvious it was a Whedon movie, to be honest... And personally I feel head over heels for Banner/Hulk. He owned that movie, seriously... ("I stay angry all the time..." And I'd try and knock out Thor to, honestly! X-D)

And then there was Loki...

Again, I really REALLY don't get it! Sure, Hiddlstone looks sorta good. Not the classical handsome man, but still he got something. He is a great actor to. No question about it.

But I don't get the worship I see on Tumblr. I don't. *shrug*

Maybe it is with this like with so many other fandoms these days: I am not meant to get it. :-P

*shrugs* *goes to play World of Warcraft*
I will admit that I have had a really really good weekend. :-) [livejournal.com profile] peting73 took an extra day off, so he's been home Thursday - Sunday. It's been great!

Thursday we didn't do much. Just hung around at home... But on Friday though! We got busy! *lol* Well, not extremely busy. :-) We got up in a sorta resonable hour, and went to IKEA to shop the last for Nerd Jr. :-) Last time we were there we forgot the highchair for Nerd Jr, so we bought that, and some other smaller stuff for Nerd Jr. AND! Since both our office chairs that we use when sitting at our computers had both given up on us... (Thanx cats for clawing big holes in them...) We splurged and got a new office-chair each. :-) REALLY COMFY! And so much better for my back... :-) So that was definitely a successful trip!

When we got home we went to a store called Babyproffsen (= Babyproffesionals, sorta) where we bought a babysitter (black of course!) and a babycarrier/babysling as well. :-)

A productive day, and I'd say we are definitely prepared for Nerd Jr's arrival whenever she/he decides to show up. ;-) (There's a lot off poking around in there right now... Especially at my ribs and the bladder... Bah. :-P Not appreciated, kid!)

On Saturday though we went on an outing with [livejournal.com profile] peting73s mom. :-) There is a medieval old house/castle not long from this city, and I've been scolded more then once for the fact I haven't been there yet. I mean, I've lived in this city since 2001, that's more then 10 years... And I still hadn't seen it, despite the fact I am a HUGE medivial history nerd. *lol* So that is somewhat fail, I'd say.

So Saturday it was time! And we went there, took about 30mins drive, so no biggie. :-) And it was SO NICE! The house was very well kept! It's been owned by the same family since around 1300 or so, and has been used for living since then until the 1800's... after that it was used to store corn and grain etc... which was actually quite good! It keept the old stonehouse dry and preserved all the wall paintings and such! :-D

There's a lot of grounds for this house to, and it is STILL run as a big farm! So at the restaurant all the food they serve there? Is produced on their own farm. It was AMAZINGLY good! My gosh... MIL bought us some really yummy lunch there after we'd gone on a tour of the house and also explored it on our own. :-)

The house is called Torpa Stenhus. Do a google image search for it, and you'll see some gorgeous photos of that house/castle. :-) I loved it. So so interesting! Living and breathing history at it's best, seriously. :-)

Then today, Sunday we lazed about during the day, and then on the afternoon I finally got my ass in gear when getting some unexpected energy boost... and did some cleaning here. Since I'll be celebrating my birthday on Saturday, I figured I wanted the apartment at least moderately clean, so... :-) I've started at least, and will continue tomorrow! :-D
