This is KSena

Usually a friendly sort. Be nice to me, and I am nice to you. Here I ramble on about me, life, work and fandoms. I am a fan of Robin of Sherwood, Xena: Warrior Princess, Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tokio Hotel and Sons of Anarchy. I don't apologize for anything I write here. This is my mind. And you entered it. Welcome.

Right, so... Midsummer celebrations went better then expected. Well, apart from the regular angst and drama.... I don't get that.

Anyway, instead of bringing my folklore costume, I brought my student overall. Since everyone else had student overalls it felt like the right thing to do. And it is easier to be snarky and mean in a student overall... ;-)

It wasn't just us and Kiltfan plus his wife and kids. Oh no. Eo and her Rumanian hubby was there to. (They meet through World of Warcraft and now he's moved here. Quite awesome.) And M and K who are around there 40's and 50's and own a student overall each. In fact, K had his 50'th birthday not that long ago. Who said only young people could be crazy in a student overall? Just saying. *grin* And then there was J as well who had some tough times with family so it put a damper on the party at times, but he got help from friends, so I suppose it all ended well. :-)

Alright, so... Photos? Of course you want photos of crazy people in student overalls filled with patches and slighly drunk... (Well, quite drunk as the day proceeded... I took my first cider at 11am or 12...) Also, all photos are clickable for bigger, should you want to. :-)

Photos and such under here! )

Didn't take more photos, since we mostly just sat around talking and drinking... and I got increasingly drunk. X-D I went to bed around 11pm, being the first to go to bed after the kids. I didn't drink as much as [livejournal.com profile] peting73 did, but he can hold his alcohol waaaay better then me, and I am still pretty good. 6 strong ciders I drank, and some shots from Kiltfans wife... She seems to like me, even if I have some problems standing her. Strange. So overal it was a great Midsummer celebration, I'd say. :-)

It was an 8 hour drive there... [livejournal.com profile] peting73 drove the whole way there... I drove the whole way back. It wasn't very fun. Damn why did they have to move so far away? *grumble*

Right so... Since we got home me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 has started on a diet, Modifast (Swedish link, English link). It is a bit like the Cambridge diet that we were on around two years ago. I've gained weight since then again... Damn annoying. So now we are going to do this again. We'll be on this diet for about a month or so and see what it can do. It is hardest the first two or three days so right now, on day two, I am damn hungry. But I know it'll pass soon enough. And it'll be worth it to. I know.

And also... I am apparently Tom Kaulitz. *lol*

You Are Tom

Unicorn love ...
I've had quite a nice few days, I must say... Having so many days off has been wonderful really. :-)

Saturday we visited mom to check up on her after her surgery and just saying hi. :-) She loves it when we comes to visit. And she was doing GREAT! :-D Felt really good, and even though she can only eat teeny tiny portions of food at a time, she felt full all the time. Amazing. :-) Summer has finally arrived to Sweden and arrived good. And visiting mom and during the drive there, I was again reminded that yeah... Sometimes this country does show off it's good sides. ;-)

Summer-time in Sweden... )
On our way to mom, we always stop at this WONDERFUL little coffee shop that is in the middle of a stream... we stopped there for breakfast this time and it was great! The sun was shining, birds chirping... and all that water. You sit on little islands bound together with little bridges in the middle of the stream. Bliss. :-)

[livejournal.com profile] peting73 of course ran around with his epic camera taking pictures here and there... I hope he'll upload some one day, they are REALLY good! He is getting good at taking photos.... Not fair though, says I, and snapped a few shots of the photographer! X-D

Snapping shots at the little coffee shop:
Got ya'! )
True love, I tell ya'! *lol* When I showed him the photo on the camera all I got was: "What? You weren't supposed to take a photo until I pulled my finger down?!" X-D We are such crazy nerds I tell you!

Anyway, we had a lovely day! And before we left mom's, even my aunt and her hubby showed up on their Harley Davidson! It is summer and they were just out for a joyride and visited mom on the way. :-D Awesome!

So that was a great day!

Sunday I went to visit [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit. Had to really, since I won't be able to in quite a long time! *gasp* She is on her way to the UK! For four weeks no less! :-D She is going to a language school traveling with Blueberry Education. :-) I hope she'll have an awesome time! In fact, I am sure she will since she has this crazy love for anything and everything coming from the UK! X-D We just did what we usually do. Talk shit and stuff, just hanging out and being best friends... and nerds... the way we do best. *lol* We also came to the conclusion we NEED THIS IN OUR LIVES! Even if none of us are very girly, we still do!

Konad Nail Art stamping...  )

I hope Ugglefot (aka @Owlfoot) and [livejournal.com profile] _devilcandy_ paid attention there!!! I am seriously considering buying this shit... DAMMIT! ANYWAY!

Today me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 cleaned out our bookshelf in preparation of getting up new wallpapers. I mean, we had to move the book shelfs, and to do that... you have to get all the books out. And we have A LOT of books. Not kidding. So we decided to clear out all the books we didn't want or didn't like. And we did. HOLY SHIT! The whole bed was full of books that we didn't want or didn't like. Not kidding. Both me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 cleared out a shit ton of books. I have mostly fantasy books and biographies, while he has mostly books about WWII, the cold war and science fiction... One goldie I found far back among [livejournal.com profile] peting73s books was a Star Wars book from 1977, a retelling of the original movie... AWESOME! Ehm.... Yes, we are nerds, why do you ask? *lol* ANYWAY, we kept said book among many others (I have a shit ton of strange comics and graphic novels, for example) and the rest we divided up in three piles. One pile to throw away, one pile to sell to a second-hand bookshop and one pile to bookcross! :-)

The books to throw away I threw away today already. I hate throwing away books, but I steeled myself and did it. The sell-pile I'll drag downtown this week someday.... And I have already started to bookcross from the bookcrossing pile. It is A LOT of books in that pile to, let me tell you.

So today I bookcrossed three books, while I was off grocery shopping.

First book... )
This one, Watch you bleed - the saga of Guns'N'Roses (Called Welcome to the Jungle in swedish translation) I put on a bench right outside the checkout... :-)

Second book... )
This one, Edward Finnigans upprättelse (a classic swedish crime novel) I put right by the entrence on a bench. Funny thing, when I was waling away from it, a young woman ran after me telling me I forgot something. Coming with her back, I explained to her about bookcrossing and that she was free to take the book if she wanted to... Not sure if she did, but she did sound interested. :-)

Third book... )
Last one I put right on the shopping cars by the back entrance. (There are two entrances at this store.) Book called Skynda, kom och se! (a drama book, I'd say). Perfect. And during this evening I got a message telling me this book has been picked up and will go on a trip to Turkey! WOO! So cool! :-D

So I'd say my bookcrossing adventures were of the good today! :-D I'd suggest anyone to check out bookcrossing. It is so much fun! *points to banner below*

Gothic love ...
Having [livejournal.com profile] tekiila over and sleeping on the sofa bed turned out to be quite fun. :-) She even got a job now! An honest to goodness librarian job! So brilliant! So happy for her. :-D She was a bit stressed out since well... School, moving, new job... I can understand that. But we had a good evening relaxing and watching a shit ton of crime shows on TV and talking old memories from the student union pub... Was wonderful!

Then Thursday hit. Holy shit it did.

I had to be there a bit early.... And then I had FOUR story times in a row, almost... Only about 30 mins between each... and they took about 30mins each to. During the breaks in between I went out to all the other classes to inform them about the Summerbookclub that the library has.

The kids has to read 8 books, and make small notes about them in a small booklet. When school starts, they show the booklet to prove they've read 8 books (the parents are involved in this, of course and puts a signature under each title). If they've managed to read all 8 books, they get an invitation to a party! And this year, we even managed to invite a secret guest to said party.... Oooh, mystery! :-D

So thats the info I ran around with during that day + those four storytimes. To say I was beat BEFORE we opened the library at 1pm would be an understatement. Then at around 1.30pm the library was INVADED by kids! GEEZ! So many kids! And they all had more questions about the Summerbookclub, how many books they had on there librarycards, to borrow the computer... how long before it was their turn to borrow the computer... how many more books they could borrow... And could I give them a book tip? And all of them wanted attention NOW! What? Stand in line... NAAAAH! So it was hectic. VERY hectic. For both me and my boss / colleague. At 4pm when we closed the library we were exhausted. Seriously exhausted.

During that evening there was not much reading on the net done, let me tell you. In fact I went to bed as early as around 10pm. o.O Unheard off! I usually go to bed around 11pm - 12pm. :-P

Today though I have just relaxed. I have short days at work so it was all good. :-)

I have worked 30 hours a week now since January at that school with all them troublesome kids. It has been good, interesting, inspiring, tough and learning. My first real job as a librarian, and I have learned so, so much. I'll most definitely miss it.

Next week I'll only work 20 hours a week. Both a little bit at that school-library and at the bigger library. After school ends, I'll only be working at the bigger library for 20 hours a week during June and July. Then, come August... We'll see. I have NO idea what'll happen then, but I am looking positively at the future. :-)

And randomly... My cat! X-D I've tried to take a photo of my cat Verdandi when she sits like this soooo many times! But as soon as she sees the camera she moves around and the moment is lost. But TODAY! Today I caught her! HA! Her sister Skuld doesn't sit like this, just Verdandi does. She sits back on her ass, leaning in the couch when she washes her tummy... or her hindlegs, holding on to them to reach. It looks bloody hilarious, especially considering she is quite the fat cat. ;-)

To those on Twitter that thought it was an Aprils Fools joke... It wasn't. :-P I have indeed cut off all my hair. I haven't had short hair since I was 12 years old, so to say this is feeling weird, would be an understatement. :-P

But this drastic cut was needed. For the last year or more my hair that has always been thick has gone drasticlly thin. I am not bold! But my hair isn't that thick anymore, which is sad indeed. And now I hadn't cut it for four months or so, so to say I had a lot of split ends would be an understatment to.

I hadn't plan to cut it yesterday. I went to the hairdresser and she was full... No possible appointments until far far in the future. But she gave a tip for another girl at another salon that was going to come over and work for her shortly. Walking there, I talked to the girl, and we clicked right away! She got what I wanted to do, and asked if I was ready to do it right then and there.

Cue me almost having a panic attack!

But I did it! And now I have a short tough hair-do! :-D It looks much shorter then it is, since my hair is wavy/slightly curly, so... But I like it! I just have to get used to it. ;-)

Photos or it didn't happen (You'll have to live with me not having any makeup on...) (all clickable for bigger):

Short-haired KSena! )

Righto! I am going to shock my LARP-friends tonight, because tonight it is time for yet another vampire-LARP! :-D Haven't been there for a month, so I can't wait! This will be the last time I play Rose Valentine, because lets face it... No matter how awesome a character she is... I have gotten very tired of playing her... So either she dies tonight, or I'll let the GM's take her over (which would make her even more dangerous). Either way, this will be the last time I portray her. So next LARP I'll be playing my new character the ghoul (=vampire-servent) Frida Wagner working with A, a wonderful and skillful young player that is... Oh, 15 years younger then me... X-D But she is fun, and I'll be locking forward to playing the servent to her character. :-)

Time to pack that LARP-bag and fix dinner! Talk to you all laters!

Halloween chick...
Work today has been really good. I had a small group of kids visiting the library and had a small class with them where I taught them how to find there way in the library. They were only 9-10 years old. Usually groups from this class can be quite the handful, but these five kids were so GOOD! And interested! And they actually listened and had fun and... Well, I felt really good after that.

Been busy as hell after work these days, this weekend will be to. I hope, HOPE things will slow down soon. :-P And to make matters worse, the bus was... 30mins late when I was to go home, WTH! GAH! I thought they had solved there issues with that damn bus. :-( And then when I came home my cats had clawed some pretty big holes in my down comforter spreading down/feathers here and there in the bedroom... ARGH! TEN holes in my comforter... TEN! Two bigger and 8 smaller once... It took my 30mins to fix them.. DAMN CATS! Not on my good side today...

Thought I'd share this brilliant photo of the semlor we baked this weekend. He is quite good at taking photos, my darling hubby [livejournal.com profile] peting73 and he posts at least once a week with a photo or two and progress on his weigth-loss in his LJ. And this photo? Well, you can almost smell how nice they tasted... ;-)

(Originally posted HERE, photographer: [livejournal.com profile] peting73.)

Yes, they tasted just as good as they look. Here is a recipe if you want to try to make some yourself: Swedish Semlor (Pretty much the way I did it. 250 degrees C = 482 degrees F.)

List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, what significance does it have.

Here goes...

Lastly, don't think I have forgotten about Japan, just because I don't write about it. I care. I DO! It is just... to big. To horrifying to wrap your head around. Mind-boggling someone on my f-list wrote and it is true. It is. If your a fan in a fandom or another, you can always check out [livejournal.com profile] help_japan... I will join in there. Just saying.

Over and out.
