Friday... Oh my gawd, where to even begin?

Well, to be honest i started Thursday already. Doing a few hours in the public library closest the school I find out that the day after, Friday, me and two other school librarians are to meet up and discuss the reading program for the summer holidays so all will be planned and done.

Crap. I'd already made plans with two teachers to have one class come borrow books and to visit another class. And it was my turn to bring in the Friday FIKA muffins...

Stressing already on Thursday I make sure I have the car the next day.

Friday morning I wake up stressed out. Get Alexandra to daycare without any issues, since she is in a moderately good mood these days (she got new pink wellington boots). Hurry back home and pack up the car. Hurry to work, get the FIKA muffins set up, so anyone can grab one whenever they decide to FIKA. Hurry around the school and find both teachers to reschedule. Class borrowing books coming to the library right away first thing when their class started. And then get to the public library for the meeting. I was only 20mins late. I still can't believe I managed that. And to make it worse one of those school-librarians are a whiny bitch, to be quite honest. The smallest thing is a huge struggle for her and she will let you know. Loudly. And then laugh about it. And then whine again. I just can't with that woman. Unfortunately she's the librarian of the school library closest to mine, so... I have to work with her on occasion. Pisses me off, to be honest.

And to think the rest of the day was calm? *LOL* No. I was still stressed the hell out with that start to my day.

So I was supposed to go to the rescheduled class, and when I get there I find out I can't talk to the class right then because they have to discuss these tests that all schools in Sweden do, so no librarian is welcome right then. And I had to reschedule when my schedule for next week already is so insane I just can't with it.

If someone tells me working as a librarian is calm and relaxing I'm going to punch them in the face.

Gladly today has been relaxing and calm. Alexandra wanted to visit her grandmother, MIL. So we did that and I love my MIL. I really do. We talked for nearly three hours straight, if not more. (Yes, I did complain a bit about Peting, her son. And she agreed with me. *LOL* Felt good.)

I'm caught up with F-list now, but not with my inbox. Holy hell, people! o.O I might have to cut a bit in my f-list if this continues, because I won't be able to keep up. I'll give it a few days, but yeah... we'll see. :-) If any of you need to do that as well, feel free to. I don't mind at all. :-)

This entry is crossposted between LJ and DW. Comment where you are comfortable.

Wow...that's a lot to have to deal with. I don't handle stress like that well so I'd have been melting down somewhere in the middle of all of that. At least you had a nice Saturday, is tomorrow gonna be relaxing as well?

I do handle it, and get quite focused when things pile up like that. But I might end up less than nice... *lol* (Un)Fortunally it was bitchy librarian that got a taste of that. X-D

Weekend was great. :-D It really was. And just what I needed. :-) Public pool with kiddo and some Game of Thrones for me. :-D

Sorry for the stressful day....I've had numerous days like those. o.O At least the evening time was calmer.

I understand with the flist. Hard to keep up a bit with so many new friends plus being ill on top of that. I may in the future downsize but right now just learning about each other before I take that step.

The evening was great, for sure! A long awaited Game of Thrones Blue ray box and my favorite chocolate. :-D

I had to downsize for sure. Not everyone, definitely not! But I had to cut a bit in my f-list because it was just impossible to keep up. :-P I do feel a bit bad about it though.

Nothing makes a librarian bristle like when someone says "Oh, I'd love your job, just getting to read all day...it's so quiet"

But no one parties harder than librarians.

Oh yeah... You have no idea. And when I hear that comment it kinda pisses me off. Sure, I read. But just because I have to. And I never have time to read up as much as I should. :-P I really should show off my to-do-lists I have everyday...

Woah. I didn't realize it was stressful to be a school librarian. Wowzer. *makes me rethink being a librarian in general*

It doesn't matter if you are a regular librarian or a school librarian, you always have these long to-do-lists to do. It's not a job where you sit around and read all day. You just don't have time to do that. :-)

I'm sorry you had a stressful Friday. Glad that Saturday was more calm.

There are standardized tests in Sweden, too?

It was indeed. :-) Much calmer and nicer.

And yeah, sorta like standardized tests. :-) Have to check the level of knowledge in the swedish schools. ;-)

"snorfles"

I always loved it when people would say "It must be great to just sit around and read all day". Like that ever happened. Ever.

If the public only knew... :-P I do read on occasion... while doing other things at the same time. But that's just so I can talk about the books with the kids. :-P Wish I had time to read more though.

Wow, this was eye-opening. I *would* have imagined that being a librarian is less stressful. Surely this was an unusually hectic day?
"I might have to cut a bit in my f-list" Ya think? ;)

*LOL* Eh, no. :-D I have a shit-ton to do every single day. I have classes with kids, I order books, I fix books, I plan for them classes, I find books, I help find information, I have kids with teen-drama, teachers taht want to discuss with me, more classes, meetings... so many meetings... You want a calm job, librarian might not be for you. ;-D

Neither me nor Peting her dad likes pink, but Alexandra has ended up being a bit of a princess. ;-) She likes blue and purple to, but that's just because ELSA has those colours. X-D

I have already accepted that I have too many people on my f-list to comment on every post, every time. I pretty much just comment if there's something in the post I feel like I can contribute to in some way, or have something to actually say about it. :)

I LOVE having so many new people to get to know on my f-list, but holding myself to the idea of commenting on/reading every post would not be good for my mental health! :P lol

I'm one of those that comment all the time, so it would feel weird NOT to, you know? I guess I'm talkative even online. X-D

I had to do a cut, unfortunately, or I would have stressed myself out. :-P

New boots do seem to be an excellent way to get them ready. VV has new robot boots that she got to pick out (first time picking out her own clothing) and she practically ran to get them when I said it was time to go.

Yeah, she loves them! Neither me nor her dad likes pink. Like at all. X-D So when she was smaller she had no pink clothes. Now she has a will off her own, so... Pink. X-D

Sorry you had such a stressful week! It sucks to be pulled in different directions, and then not get to do what you need to do when you finally get to a task. I hope this week goes better!

And please don't punch me. I worked in a library office with three women, not on the floor with kids and mayhem :-)

Oh, this week has turned out tons better. :-D I even thought today would be crazy stressful, but it turned out not to be. :-D Progress! So not even half as stressed this week.

Kids and mayhem and arranging culutral activites and buying books and keep order in the library and plan for moving the whole library when the school moves and go to short educations/lectures and... and... and... Yeah, calm this job is not. X-D
