I watched the Eurovison song contest a few days after the fact it had aired. Because I'm late and slow like that. Or maybe it's just my life is just so stressful. :-P

Anyway, I've watched both semi-finals and the final as well, and I have to say... Even though the winning song was special, to me it was just another ballad. :-P And I'm so sick of ballads, to be honest. Also, he was a bit of an ass there at the end, pretty much saying only his song could be counted as ‘real’ music. WFT, dude? :-/

There were others though that caught my attention. Others that were actually… Good. Which never happens in the Eurovision Song Contest. *LOL* It’s supposed to be kitschy and bad, but these were good!

Cyprus song Gravity had a surprisingly nice beat! One of those that get stuck in the head. At least on me. :-D Stage show was pretty neat to!

Greece - Gravity )

Hungary also had a nice stage show. With the barefooted romani girl and the singer singing in romani according to his heritage. I have a lot of romani students at the school I work, so this did struck a chord with me. Because they don’t really have a role model. A shame he didn’t win. I don’t know romani, but I still really liked the song.

Hungary - Origo )

Norway also surprised me with a pretty good song! Again with the beat. I do like a song with a good beat, apparently. And they looked cool on stage to, with the masked men doing the music. Yep, one of my favorites for sure, and not only for being my neighboring country. :-)

Norway - Grab the moment )

Azerbaijan’s song really got me to sit up and pay attention. Not so much for the weird stage show (man with a horsehead on a ladder, what?), but for the really nice song! I like her voice and also the chanting in this song. The text is kinda cool to. So this was a nice surprise really. :-D

Azerbaijan - Skeletons )

This song from Belgium though… My ABSOLUTE favorite! THAT VOICE! Breathless and just a little bit hoarse… And the way she either look/sound terrified or desperate… It really works! I really really enjoyed this and can clearly see myself going back to listen to it again. SO NICE!

Belgium - City lights )

The most fun song that just makes me smile, because it’s happy and a little silly and… Well, it just makes me smile is Romania’s song. :-D Yodel it! It might be the sillier songs this year, but dammit… The way that girl is yodeling? That is NOT easy! So, silly song with a lot of skill behind it! :-D

Romania - Yodel it! )

And that concludes my Eurovision thoughts for this year. :-) Well, let’s finish it with the song from Sweden to, maybe? Have to be a lil bit patriotic, right? ;-)

Sweden - I can't go on )

I... don't even know where to start this post. o.O

Let's see... I took over the @sweden Monday 13th. Was a lot of active users following it, around 104'000. So there was a lot of questions and comments being thrown at me. But not more than I could keep up with. The nasty ones I just ignored. :-)

It was fun. I tweeted about my days. I tweeted about my city, Borås. I tweeted about books, since I am a librarian. Gave tips for reading about Sweden. What you can do coming to visit Sweden, and what fun there is to do in different cities.

Just what I'd expected to do on such a Twitter account. And the same thing I did, pretty much, when I was a voice for Sweden on The Swedish Number. Only this time I had to write my answers and to a lot more people then I had done then. So it was all fun and games...

Until after midnight Saturday night (swedish time). When Donald Trump held a speech where he talked about refugees and terrorist attacks. "Look at what's happening in Sweden. Last night in Sweden..."

I didn't know about this. Until suddenly A TON of people started to ask the only swede awake. On Twitter. @sweden. What is happening? Are you OK? Is ABBA fine? Have Måns Zelmerlöf been hurt? Etc, etc, etc... Et infinity...

I was left with thinking, what the FUCK is he talking about? Checking all the sources I could think off (because fact-check, people!), I came to the conclusion it was bullshit. And proceeded to tell the followers as much, mostly to reassure everyone and inform, you know?

This went on for all night until I noticed the time. 3:45am. SHIT! Kiddo usually wakes up at 7am, so I hurried to bed for a bit of sleep.

Woke up all groggy and shit and cuddled kiddo in the couch. And checked @sweden twitter. Between 800-900 mentions. HOLY HELL!!! Obviously I couldn't answer everyone, but I answered a few here and there, and kept informing and reassuring that NOTHING HAS HAPPENED!!!

And (gladly) after I had started to wake up, the media-circus started...

First a web-page/web-news page called Mashable mailed me questions about what had happened.... And then, hold your hats, BBC who I did a live-interview with right on air. And Le Monde (from France), DMed me and mailed me. After that, swedish media got in on it. And they to contacted me.

So I had the two MAIN NEWS SHOWS here in my messy home interviewing and filming me. WTF??? Both Rapport and TV4News.

After than it was the local newspaper that called and did a phone interview, Borås Tidning.

At this point I'm so flabbergasted, I had no words. To me, it was no huge deal. I'd spread information, spoke the truth and been myself. That's all. But these people seemed to see it as if I'd spoken against Donald Trump. *shrug* I suppose in a way I had, but I didn't and still don't see it like that.

Next news-site that contacted me and did a phone-interview was The Local who has swedish news in english. And the Daglige Blad from Norway.

And then... BBC contacted me AGAIN!!! X-D So I did another live-interview with them.

That was the last one I did on Sunday. I'd promised both myself, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 and Alexandra that I wouldn't do anything after 6pm at night, since... family is the most important after all.

I went to bed quite late again, since the storm had not stopped on the account. I was still the swede of the week on @sweden. And Sunday night was my last night, so I wanted to keep information coming for as long as possible before I had to logg out. So I did. There was still TONS and TONS of questions pouring in and I answered as best I could. Tweeting information and news as best I could. Until finally I was to exhausted and logged out and collapsed in bed.

You'd think since I was not the swede of the week on Monday I wouldn't have anyone calling me? Wrong! SO wrong!

I'd gotten emails during Sunday from the public radio here in Sweden about doing a couple of mornings show Monday morning. So I had to get up early, since the first one was to call me at... 6:45 am.

So at 6:45am I talked to the morning show in Stockholm. 7:15am I talked to the local radio-show Radio Sjuhärad... And at 7:30am I talked to the the morning show P3 Morgon-passet.

After that I threw myself in the shower taking a shower and after that getting makeup on, because after that...

I was to be on BBC (AGAIN!). This time it was BBC News (what??!?!). I didn't know if they wanted with my face to on Skype, so hence the makeup. Proved they didn't need that, oh well...

My mom came over that monday, THANK GAWD! Because during the day I was contacted by CNN in New York, USA.

I... had no words at this point, and more was to come... So we scheduled an interview late that evening my time. (After Alexandras bedtime.)

Mom helped me clean a bit and we hung out. Went to pick up Alexandra and we stopped at the playground, which Alexandra wanted. And when we hung out by the playground I got a phone call from one of my colleagues who jokingly called me the celebrity. Then she said that there'd been a call to them asking for my phone-number. From the swedish government. WHAT??? Of course it was fine if they called me. So they did.

And it was the Head of Staff at the Minister for Foreign Affairs Margot Wallström. Who called to give me an official thank you from the swedish government.

WHAT??!??! I was beyond happy I was sitting down at that point, let me tell you.

Mom stayed with us all day, until bedtime. I even dozzed off leaning against her at one point after dinner. It felt wonderful. I swear to anything holy, I'll always need mom. She is my piler of support when things storm around me. She, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 and my best friend [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit.

Anyway, later that night CNN called me up on Skype, and everything got set up and all. They were very very professional and effective. The interviewer, live on air and everything, was Brooke Baldwin, apparently. I couldn't see. I only saw my screen, but apparently they had me on image on the show. They had to cut it short though, since Donald Trump announced new members of the White House staff. Which was fine, really!

You'd think that was the last of it, but no...

The day after, Tuesday, I was doing a live-thing on Facebook with a couple of people from The Swedish Institute who runs the @sweden twitter account and are responsibel for it. It was weird but also a lot of fun.

That, however, was the last of it!!!!

Today I've just stayed home and not done a damn thing. GEEZES CHRIST!

So... How was your weekend? X-D *LOL*

And here's all the links to everything I've done. Only thing I couldn't find a link for was the Norweigan newspaper. :-) In case you wanna read, listen or watch. If it's in swedish, I'll make a note for it.

All the interviews about the swedish incident aka #lastnightinsweden... )

Was at the LARP yesterday and had a wonderful time! :-D

My friend A who plays Frida Wagners owner/master Isabella Guthermark has returned from a month long trip to Africa where she did volunteer work in Zimbabwe. Apparently she'd had a very good and interesting time. It was clear she had grown... even more. So young and so smart and so caring and just... damn, I am so proud of knowing her. :-) A wonderful young woman over all. She'll go far, I know it. After she came home, her parents took her on a family trip to, since I guess they'd missed her, so she was gone from three LARPs. Meaning I hadn't seen her for 1 ½ month. It was WONDERFUL to meet her again! :-D We talked a lot, both LARP-stuff and life-stuff. :-) She was extactic about the fact there'll be a Nerd Jr. She found out on her trip and had apparently squeeled when she'd read it on the net. I am very happy for her too, since she has gotten back together with her boyfriend. They are both very young, but if there ever was a couple destined... well, it is those two. I hope they'll work it out. So much love going on there, it really is. :-)

LARP-wise we talked about any possible trouble my character might have gotten up to... that could put her character in trouble to. See, playing a ghoul / a servent to a vampire can be quite fun. Especially when A's character Isabella asks "have you done anything bad while I've been gone?" and Frida (with a very innocent looking face) just says "I have only done anything in my power to make sure you get what you need and want...." Now... You can interpret that. Very much. I do have some seriously wicked plans going on that NO ONE knows about! Only the GM's... A just made a face at my answer since she has started to know me quite well... "Oh yeah... I am sure you've been a very very good servant..." dripping with sarcasm... *lol* He he he... Fun times is definitely had!

Being at the LARP though made sure I missed the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. I did follow the goings on via Twitter (thank you to those I follow there to!).

And man... Was I disappointed! :-P You might think I am pleased seeing Sweden win, since you know... I am swedish. But I am not. So, so not... This year seriously sucked. I gotta say, the music in this so called competition is... really not very good. I mean, as [livejournal.com profile] peting73 says: "There's some really really good music made in Europe... Really really good. Then why the FUCK do the worst end up in Eurovision??!!??" I can only agree with him. :-P

There were some surprises though! :-) Like the little old grannies from Russia! OMG! They were so cute, i just wanted to hug them! X-D

Russia's little grannies... )

And they ended up on second place! :-D GO GRANNIES! Apparently they were between 40 and 80 years old, or so the rumor says... o.O How cools that! Especially that none of them had heart-failure during the competition... *grin*

[livejournal.com profile] peting73 who is a rabid Eurovision hater also thought the Russian Grannies were kinda cool, but his favorite was our neighbor actually... Norway.

Handsome Norwegian dude... )

And yeah, it is pretty good. :-) Definitely among the better ones. I mean, wth with all the ballads? :-P

My favorite that I thought should have won was Hungary's song. It was really really good and I thought it stood out not being a classical eurovision song. That alone gives it extra points in book. Sadly though it almost ended up last. :-/ Very disappointed in that.

Hungary reminding me of... what? )

So no winning for them. Dammit. And it did remind me of music I've heard before, even if I can't place it. :-P

But, alas... Sweden's song won. Euphoria.

Euphoria from Sweden... )

And yeah, OK. I admit. It does stick out a bit to, and I like the fact Loreen didn't do what all the other girls did who sang: that is showing off their ass and tits and ran around in high heels. And she most likely had one of the nicest dancers with her. But the song? No. I did not like it.

Now I have to listen to it all summer, most likely... All over the place... Radio, TV, bars, nightclubs, outdoor coffee-shops... while shopping... Dammit, dammit...
You know when waking up hearing this song in your head for some obscure reason and having the G's on your head... You just know the day is gonna be good... and weird...

Save a horse, ride a cowboy! )

I actually managed to sleep this entire night! Almost... Lately I've had troubles waking up several times a night because I haven't been able to breath proparely... because my nose has been so fucking stuffed... Well, tonight! That was not a problem! WOOT! My troath is still not OK, but man... Today it has been so, SO much better! If this keeps up, I'll definitly try and get my swedish reading for you guys done tomorrow! I hope... No promises. :-D Ha ha ha!

[livejournal.com profile] peting73 has also proved how really gawd damn awesome he is... We have finally started to actually do some use in the room we are redoing... And not only throwing stuff away (necessary to, of course... but still...). And he has done HUGE progress today, OMG! o.O So tomorrow we are ordering wallpapers. It'll still take a long time (a week or two more), but now we actually can see the end of it. And then.... THEN! We can decorate it. Oh, man I have plans... :-D I have only discovered one problem in my plan... I don't know where to put my Xena huge paper-doll that [livejournal.com profile] chigrima and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit dragged home from London to me! And I have no idea where to put my action dolls either... Poor Blues Brothers Jake and Elwood... and the many Xenas... and Aragorn... and Autolycus... and Velasca... I'll try to find a good place for you... Somehow... Tyldak, the dear flying elf I think I have to throw away. He is literary falling to pieces the poor elf. :-/

Anyway, been working today at the big city library and it was busy as HECK! o.O My gawd... OK, so it is Saturday, but seriously? Really? I only worked from 11am to 4pm and it was a constant string of people asking questions, quees forming... I didn't get to take lunch until 2:30pm... Man, was I beat then. It didn't calm down until the last 30mins, so you can say it was slightly insane today at the library.

And today it was the regular pre-competition to the big Eurovision Song Contest. I mean, we gotta pick the best we can find of swedish music, right? Ehr... Well.

My favorites were these two songs. Pretty good, and a bit different from what the songs Sweden usually sends to that competition:

Mystery by Dead By April )

Baby Doll by Top Cats )

Fun, quite OK to listen to... Not to silly. They kinda work, you know?

And then the scores started to come in. And both me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 made some SERIOUS head-desks here, because honestly? The song that won SUCKS! It sounds EXACTLY like all the others Sweden has sent to the Eurovision Song Contest... only worse. And we've ended up further and further down in the scores. :-( *points downwards*

Euphoria by Loreen )

Where the fuck is ABBA and Waterloo when you need them? :-/
Oh my gawd... What a weekend... Lets see if we can take this in a somewhat order. :-)

Saturday.... Ah, yes. :-) [livejournal.com profile] peting73 ran The Gothenburg Half Marathon. And he ran it all! I am so proud of him, you have no idea!!! Me and my future mother in law went there to give him support and cheer him on. And that we did. We got there before he started, so that gave us time to walk around and check out stores, try on silly hats, and drink a cold beer out in the sun. Yeah, she is cool. ;-) After about 1 and a half hour we figured he might have gotten closer to the city center and we found a good spot to stand so we could see all the runners... And OH MY GAWD!!! It was a lot of people running this race. So many, in fact, it was a world-record! Standing and cheering everyone on, was... amazing. So many different people, with just one goal in mind.

So many runners! )

It took [livejournal.com profile] peting73 a bit longer to get to the city center though... After almost two hours we spotted him in the crowd! And even though we both figured we wouldn't make fools off us, we cheered him on like crazy when we saw him! And when he heard us, and spotted us, it seemed to give him some extra energy and he came running towards us, tired but happy and gave me a kiss and a hug (very sweaty!) before running on! Both me and his mom got so touched by this we became giggle like little schoolgirls for the trip home... X-D

My hero! )

So, yes. That was quite awesome, yes. :-) Back home, I just had time to go home to change and get ready to go to [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit. [livejournal.com profile] peting73 had not gotten home yet, and I had no idea when, so I just... packed up my stuff and left to watch the Eurovision Song Contest with sis. :-) And to drink wine. Lets not forget the wine... X-D

The plan was to do some embroidery while watching the contest, but we soon forgot that in our eagerness to cheer on our favorites and to discuss... very obscure things... Man... When we drink alcohol our discussions sure turn interesting... o.O

I must say there were quite a bit of good music in the contest this year. My favorites were Norway, Germany and Estonia. And a little bit Malta, since she had such an awesome voice, and also Great Britain since Andrew Lloyd Webber was on the stage... But the biggest favorite was Norway. And they won the whole thing!!! YAY! We also came to the conclusion that the young singer looks like a mix between a hobbit and Harry Potter! X-D Quite cute, actually!

My favorites who didn't win...  )

And lastly, the winner... Alexander Rybak from Norway!

The winner! From Norway! )

I really like this song. It has drilled a hole in my brain and made a home. X-D

So you could say that Saturday was pretty awesome. :-) Then come Sunday. Also an awesome day! [livejournal.com profile] tekiila celebrated her birthday in Gothenburg, so back there I went. A bunch of friends meeting up for dinner. :-) It was great! [livejournal.com profile] astroflammante was also there, and she had some problem getting home, since there was a soccer event going on in Gothenburg, and the team for her city played. Meaning the trains going to her home-town were full. So she couldn't get home. Instead, she spent the night here. One thing is for sure, I always help my friends if needed. And having a sofa bed is oh so practical. ;-) Anyway, the dinner was great! So yummy! And it was wonderful to meet all friends again. A bit embarrassing even, since all told me how thin I was! o.O I wouldn't call my self thin. I have lost weight sure... But really... *blush*

Oh well. :-) Thats it for today. Tonight we are only gonna relax. I think we need that here, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 and me. :-)

Fruitsallad...
