This is KSena

Usually a friendly sort. Be nice to me, and I am nice to you. Here I ramble on about me, life, work and fandoms. I am a fan of Robin of Sherwood, Xena: Warrior Princess, Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tokio Hotel and Sons of Anarchy. I don't apologize for anything I write here. This is my mind. And you entered it. Welcome.

OMG!

These two days have been INSANE! I am not even joking. o.O

I started my new job yesterday, which was fun and interesting. The need for a librarian at that place is HUGE! Not even joking. There's been this lady there that's not a librarian, and she's pretty much just made sure students can borrow books. Nothing more. That's not even half of what a school-librarian does!

The teachers are ecstatic that I'm there. The students are curious at me (librarian with tattoos and piercings, what? really?). And it's a nice place to be. Really. I think I could enjoy it there.

But.

Yesterday when I was going home, I got a call from a colleague of mine I used to work with. She is now head over all culture work in one part of the city. And they needed a librarian at another school. Full time until the end of December. She wanted me.

o.O * shocked *

Thing is, that offer is HUGELY better then the current one, let me tell you. At my current one, I am only guaranteed 4 hours a day. And they can only hire me a month at a time, and it'll probably end come summer. The other offer, I'll have a full time job until December. It's a no-brainer, really.

Still I feel shitty leaving the school I am currently at without a librarian. They haven't had a proper librarian for 3 years! THREE YEARS! That's NUTS! I am a bit at a shock as to why they haven't hired a librarian as a temporary replacement for the one that is ill in such a long time. Crazy, crazy...

We'll see what happens now I suppose. Going on an interview on Thursday for the better job, and after that? We'll see.

Keep your fingers crossed?

This entry is crossposted between LJ and DW. Comment where you are comfortable.

Wow! That's amazing.

All I can say is, if you get offered the better job, take it. The current job, if they really want to keep you, will make you an offer to try and get you to stay. Then you can see which will suit you best.

And if they don't make you that offer, then you're better off with the other job anyway.

I did take it indeed. :-) Although I don't feel quite as comfortable at this school and library, I think I can live with it. I hope it'll prove to be better as time moves. *nods* Trying to see the positive. :-)

Give yourself time to settle in. I'm sure it'll be okay in the end.

I am working on that, actually. :-) At least my colleague is really a sweet old man, if very set in his old ways. :-)

SO TRUE! It does indeed! I did pick the better job of the two, fulltime until December. I did work my first dya there today, and even though everyone is very friendly and the school is nice and all that... I just don't feel as comfortable there as I did at the other school... Weirdness. I've only done one day there, so I will see what will happen in the future.

i will keep my fingers sUPER SUPER crossed, i literally just squealed in class. you don't need the luck though or the crossed fingers, you are an amazing librarian that loves books and that's all you need.

i am so sincerely happy that things are turning around and i am SO excited!!! this is almost a YEAR!! soooooo exciting. I'm so thrilled for you congratulations! I knew this day would come!!

soo.. basically the absolute WORSt that could happen here is that you wind up staying at this library you really like just for less time?? seems like good odds!!

HA HA HA! Sorry for having you squeel in class. ;-)

The odds were really in my favor, yeah. :-) I did end up with the better job, that is at the fulltime job until Decmber. Which is really good deal, but now when I've done my first day I will admit I didn't feel quite as at home as I did at the first place. I really REALLY liked that place. :-/ If they still lack a librarian come winter, I am so calling them again... Just saying.

hey darling!! right now I'm learning about endometriosis, and i thought of you.

i am really sorry that this is what made me think of you- it's not that i don't think of you often- but this galvanized me into checking up on you to see how you and petting and alex are doing.

it's not the most romantic thing ever but in the second year of med school ill take what i can get.

Considering how late I am answering comments, I don't have room to talk. *lol*

I think it is a good thing that Endometriosis is taught in med school! There's not enough information going around, and to many women gets miss-diagnosed. :-) So I say it's a good thing. Maybe you'll be able to help a woman in my position one day!

The universe is certainly slanted towards your favour right now :) Plus - they know a good librarian when they see one! You're a hot commodity! lol Awesome stuff :)

Well, you are one of those people that would know if the universe and the stars are in my favor, right?

I guess I am a good librarian. *lol* The things I never ever thought I'd be using professionally is apparently the things that are what makes me attractive to throw into a school-library... Who'd have thought? X-D

haha, how crazy! congrats on both the offers!

if i were you, i wouldn't rule out the original offer just yet. if you let them know about your situation they may just be able to improve your offer and give you some incentive. you never know!!

were you unemployed before? i guess i had assumed you had some other kind of library gig

I did point that out for them when I talked about it with the ones in charge there, but unfortuanlly they couldn't match the better offer. To damn bad, I will admit since I loved working at that school. :-P

Oh well. New school, new library...

I've been unemployed for YEARS! I've just worked hired by the hour at various libraries... and on temporary positions. This to is a temporary position but it's the longest running I've ever head, all the way until December!

that's too bad. i bet it was awkward telling them what happened though! i would've been nervous after just one day. you never know though, always keep the option in the back of your mind!

that sounds so odd to me, because even though i know nothing about library science, i always assumed full-time positions were the majority of what was available.

Nah, not here it's not. Mostly hired-by-the-hour positions or temporary positions. It sucks, but there it is. :-P
