This is KSena

Usually a friendly sort. Be nice to me, and I am nice to you. Here I ramble on about me, life, work and fandoms. I am a fan of Robin of Sherwood, Xena: Warrior Princess, Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tokio Hotel and Sons of Anarchy. I don't apologize for anything I write here. This is my mind. And you entered it. Welcome.

... I created a LiveJournal.

Had I only known how much it would change my life, ups and downs, I would have thought twice about it.

I even named my first entry First Entry... It's HERE if you wanna see. I was writing much shorter entries back then. Short and quick. And I remember I shared a TON of memes and tests.

What happened to all that I wonder? It's not 'cool' to do anymore?

I wanted to do something special for my tenth year anniversary. Like... I don't know. Offer to write a ton of drabbles or something. Or... Maybe even do a giveaway or something...

But I really don't feel like it.

Lately I've tried to figure out why I don't want to post that much anymore. And the other day, I think I figured it out.

It's not LJ's fault. They've done nothing wrong in my book, just tried to develop the site to the best of their ability, and keep it alive and thriving.

But it's the negativity that has spread though the sites users like a plague. Because as soon as I say that I like LJ, I get negativity. As soon as LJ is doing anything, I see negativity. It seems like no matter what, there's negativity. No one even wants to give any changes a chance. And that makes me sad. Bottomless sad. :-/

LJ will continue to be my home though.

Ten years. I created my LJ in December 2003. Just months before, in September 2003 I meet [livejournal.com profile] peting73. I've had this LJ for as long as our relationship has lasted.

I've written about my struggles with the Sexmaster's society, the Student Union and it's pub, and writing my national masters thesis at the University here. About my friends and family. About the loss of my father, even if it happened before I got this LJ. About my struggles getting a job. About the job's I've had and lost. About the vampire-LARP and how I've been doing there. About my mixed feeling's about moving in with [livejournal.com profile] peting73, and later the fact that all went well. About losing my old friends that I grew up with. About becoming an aunt, and the joys with that. About my disease, Endometriosis, and the struggles with that. When we got engaged, right out of the blue. And my journey to get pregnant, even if I kept it very vague since we wanted to keep it a secret... And when we told, and I've never gotten that many comments on one single post... Birth of Alexandra, and my struggles being a new mom bottle feeding my baby girl...

Just... life. I've shared my life here. Every single detail. I've always been an open book, even in real life. Honest like few others. It's a warning I always give. Disgustingly honest person here. It goes both online and in real life that warning. My RL friends enjoy it, likes it, seem to want it... And I hope that those who have stuck around here on LJ do to.

I'll be here. Seems like nothing can drag my away from this place. I hope someone might take a moment to give me a comment here... Because I miss the discussions I've had in comments like I don't even know what. Used to get 5-15 comments a post... Now I'll be happy if I get two.

Things change. Life moves on.

But one thing's for sure. I'll be here. And continue to be here until the site finally closes down, if that ever happens...

Oh! And I changed my layout to what I can remember being the closest to what I used when I started using this site... Not exactly, but close enough.

This entry is crossposted between LJ and DW. Comment where you are comfortable.

Yeah, two to three comments per post seems about average these days...everyone's moved on to tumblr and Twitter I think. Only a few people on LJ or DW anymore.

I don't even think it's negativity about the site as much as it is people have moved on to other places. I see them being positive and fannish on Tumblr now, not here. LJ made this space a place that was no longer really fan-safe.

I'm still set up for cross-posting from DW, but I don't think I'll have a paid account here ever again, sadly. And I just don't make the time I used to for posting and interacting here because...there just aren't as many people and conversations as there used to be.

It is sad, but as you say, things change.

It's my home, so years and years ago I got myself a permanent account. I don't regret it for a second.

If fandom's actually took the time to find out facts (http://copperbadge.livejournal.com/3660525.html?thread=83279853#t83279853) and stop listening to idiots... They'd know the truth, but alas...

Funny about DW... When it was opened/released or whatever you wanna call it, that site was the "savior" of all those who liked the "real LJ". And to be honest, it's mostly dead there. [livejournal.com profile] gajastar said she'd posted fic exclusively there... and no one reads it. *shrug* Savior indeed.

Happy LJ anniversary!

I think it's not that people are negative about LJ. It's just the fannish stuff has gone elsewhere -principally Tumblr. Sites like that have made people a bit lazy these days, I think. If there isn't a 'like' button they just don't bother saying anything.

Hmm... I think you might be on to something there when saying people are getting lazy. Might be the reason Tumblr is so popular. Don't have to do much work there, do you?

You don't. You just press a button. Twitter hasn't helped either. Nobody wants to be bothered to read anything longer than 100 characters.

Yeah, that's true... I will admit to being addicted to Twitter, since it is an outlet when I am home alone with Alexandra. Easy to use on the phone... I do get what you are saying though. :-P

"Disgustingly honest person here." - haha i love it! i too, am disgustingly honest. it's to a fault though because i am quite bad at job interviews since they sort of expect you to lie in those.

were you ever familiar with greatestjournal? i had one of those (probably close to 10 yrs ago) and it was my entire life. my closest friends and i were very active and i just.. miss those days. i also miss having all the freetime after school to just mess around with html and tweak layouts and create user icons.

man, it's crazy to think about how much life changes in 10 years though.

i really used to enjoy posting "surveys" to sites but it seems like i've answered every question a million times, which is why i stopped doing those online. i HAVE a tumblr and a twitter but honestly i don't see how they compare to livejournal. no one really "journals" on tumblr, it's just like.. posting a photo or reblogging a photo. if they do say anything it's like one sentence. same with twitter. i feel like i just need to express myself in a "journal", not just with a collection of photos of celebrities, you know?

oh and by the way - i like your new layout!

I have a few RP-journals at GJ, but since those RP's never ended up anything, I never got into it much. Even have a few RP journals on Insane Journal. :-) I've always prefered LJ as it were, though.

10 years is a very very long time, yeah. I meet [livejournal.com profile] peting73 same year I created this LJ. And now we live togethar and have a daughter that's 1 ½ years old... Mind-blowing to say the least...

I will admit I am somewhat addicted to Twitter though. It's my outlet when I am home alone with my kid. Tumblr I've never really... gotten. Or liked. I look at gay porn mostly on that site. X-D

wow, did you meet him on LJ? i can't imagine!

i only use twitter to "livetweet" two tv shows but that's about it. i feel sorry for the people who havent blocked me yet and who don't care because i tweet about 200 times an episode but it is only once a week so there's that.

haha, i do "get" tumblr but at the same time it's like.. why does it advertise itself as a blogging site because it seems like no one on there blogs? everyone just posts photos. it's basically instagram except without the filters and with more fangirls. haha it is a good place for gay porn though, i'd imagine.

No, I didn't meet him on LJ. :-) We were both active in clubs at the Student Union and volunteered at the Student Union Pub doing work there. :-) Was a lot of fun and we became friends first, before we ended up a couple. :-) Best way to do it, if you ask me. ;-)

I KNOW! That's what bothers me with Tumblr to. I mean, sure. I have one. And I reblogg pretty pictures or gif-sets sometimes... But it's definitively not a blogging-site. I mean, there are those that adds this addon Disqus to their Tumblrs so they can get comments going on their posts... And that just makes me LOL, because they basically try to turn it into an LJ (or anything like it) then. Silliness... *shrug*

oh, well that makes sense. being friends with your partner is definitely important!

i honestly wish tumblr had comments though, i'd love that, but i dont think anyone else cares to use them, haha so it would almost be pointless.

Well, were I've seen people having Disqus at their Tumblr... Let's just say there's less comments than on LJ. And it's not that many comments on LJ these days either!
