So... I've just finished watching Game of Thrones season 5. And although I have some thoughts on it, the main surprise and disappointment was... 'Wait? They're not killing of anyone else? Where's the gore and death???' Yes, I'm a weirdo. Get used to it. But considering the Red Wedding during season 3, I mean... Is it a wonder?

Not sure where to begin and this is probably... very random and not very structured, but here goes.

There were a few things I did not expect. Jon Snow, wtf? Yeah, he wasn't the most popular on the block, but really? Again it comes to show that no one is sacred. I wonder if the creators and GRR Martin [livejournal.com profile] grrm (the man got an LJ! how awesome is that?) is planning to kill off all the Starks? I do wonder... I can't say Jon didn't have it coming what with breaking exactly ALL the traditions and everything. But SERIOUSLY! I do so hate Thorne. So not happy about him probably ending the new Lord Commander. Dammit.

Sam though, a sweet Sam... I hope he'll end up the Maester he wants to be. I'm sure he will. With the support of Ginny and little Sam. :-)

Talking of Starks. There's Arya. I really like what they are doing with that character. Totally rooting for her to be a kick ass assassin. A no one. And then she had to go ruin it for herself, even if Meryn had it coming. The last scene for her was really creepy and so so so well done! Gonna be interesting to see what that all means.

And of course... Not all Starks are gone. There's Bran to. But we haven't seen him this season. Wonder why...? ;-)

OH! Sansa! I forgot about Sansa Stark. But hey, dude. There's a lady I used to want to slap hard in the face to make sure you woke up from her silly daydreaming. As the series have progressed I just ache for her. She is just used for her name. Nothing else. And to put her in the hands of the Boltons, now that's just cruel. I do like Ramsey, weirdly enough. He is so unapologetically cruel. Not giving a fuck really. Honest about his cruelty. I loved the interactions between Sansa and Theon. I really did. Theon so so so broken and Sansa getting there the longer she stays with Ramsey. I think Theon finally snapped enough to help her because he saw himself the way he was in the beginning under the hand of Ramsey. My own theory. :-) Let's hope they survived their jump.

Not going to go through all the characters really, but a few more...

I must say Daenerys and Tyrion was not a team-up I'd expected, but the second to last episode sure changed my mind about that. Oh my gosh, they'll be dangerous together! I so approve! And I hope they'll end up not only colleagues / business partners, but also friends eventually. Add Varys to the mix, and things SURE will be interesting...

Also wondering how the Dothraki feel about her. It could go either way there.

And back to the Lannisters. I FEEL SORRY FOR JAMIE! Last season and this and he is really becoming a favorite of mine, following his brother close behind. And to think I hated him in the beginning of this show. And to FINALLY be able to tell one of his children he is her father... and then have her die in his arms. Harsh. Damn harsh.

I did not feel sorry for Cersei though. I know a lot do, but holy fuck... Did she have that coming? Yeah, it's a harsh punishment. But considering what she's done if you look back through the seasons? Yeah... It was beautifully played though, so all hail the actors! Especially Lena Headey playing Cersei!

So all in all, I did enjoy it obviously. But it was a lot more slow phased than I'd expected. And not as many deaths as I'd expected. Right then. Onwards to season 6! I'll be paying up for HBO Nordic so I can see season 6 as soon as it airs! Addicted? Just a bit. X-D

OMG GOT! I cannot wait for the new season.

I remember the first season, I hated almost all of the female characters when it started and by the end I was like "wait, these women are amazing!"

And now, going into this 6th season we have such layered characters. Even Cersei, who makes my skin crawl when I think of her actions, you just want to know what will happen with her. And Sansa, who was so naive and now she gets it, she has learned to play the game and now that she has escaped (oh gods I hope she has!) I want her to start taking down these awful men.

I'm not sure what is going to happen to Dany. I have been rooting for her but then I remember how INSANE everyone else in her family has been and I get scared that she may turn out to be the villain before it all ends.

I thought Arya would save us all but now I'm not so sure what will be her fate.

GAH THIS SHOW! It has some missteps, I can't deny that, but it manages to keep me on the edge of my seat and every time the end credits start, I usually make an audible "NO!!" sound because waiting a week between episodes...and then a YEAR to know more...it's so painful!

True! A lot of the women are amazing! Except Cersai. I really REALLY don't like her. :-P

By the end of this season, I have to admit there's four characters I'm most curious on coming up to the next season. And it's Sansa and Theon. And Tyrion and Dany. The team Tyrion and Dany is going to be amazing, I think. Once they get to sit down and actually plan. Watch out Cersai, I say!

Arya is just... Yeah. That was weird. I wonder what is going on in that house really... More curious on that than on what is going to happen to her, to be honest.

Agreed though it's not a perfect show, but damn if it isn't getting close! :-D

Don't forget Rickon - remember the youngest brother who left both the show and the books a few seasons ago. I have no idea what the plan is for him.

As for Arya - I assume it's another test. But then I also believe Jon is alive despite everything in the books and the show.

My understanding is that this season will examine why the war started - which should have gore aplenty.

TRUE! I FORGOT ABOUT RICKON! Strange Stark on the lose... No one knows what happens to him... *dramatic music* :-D

GORE IN THE FUTURE! Wait, that isn't good, silly self. *LOL* It'll be interesting to see though, for sure.

Unlike most, I do think that is it for Jon Snow. Unless he returns as a white walker. Not impossible that. :-)

My bet is Melisandre raises him - followers of the light god can do that. The books speak of 3 to ride the dragons, and the fact that only Targaryens can ride them which leads to all the wild speculation as to who might be part Targeryen, and Jon is a possible candidate. I hold stubbornly, knowing that the show may well do something totally different. They really have diverged now. The show hasn't even mentioned it that I recall.

Oh, I remember them doing that earlier in the show to. :-) Raising people from the dead.

And no, the show hasn't mentioned anything about three riders. Not at all, actually. Of course, if that is the case, Jon Snow is definitively a candidate since we have no clue off who his mother is. Neither have we seen any specific reaction to fire or heat.

I refuse to believe tht Jon is for real dead. It's JON. Him dying would kill my fave fan theory. Plus the Red Woman did totally head back to the wall, and we all know the Red God has brought people back before. *harsh side eye at the Red God to get on some resurrection*

The series has changed a lot of things from the book, but I'm not going to be that guy right now. :)

I really really don't like the red woman and the believe in the red god. It's very much wtf? I tried to understand it, but then they started to sacrifice children. Dude, that just put you in the bad guy category for good. :-P I saw her and the god as a grey area thing, but not anymore.

IF Jon Snow comes back, I would guess it's as a white walker. But that's my personal theory.

*pushes up nerd glasses* In the books, Shireen is 100% still alive (and Gendry never even made it Dragonstone [and I totally ship him and Arya, but, like, in 15-20 more years. King Robert has a son, Ned has a daughter, let's unite these houses!]) so she's not AS bad in the books. The whole thing with Shireen was SUPER 'wtf WHY?' when it came up on the show. They've actually added in a lot of violence towards women in the last season that wasn't there in the books, tbh.

I totes want Jon to come back as Jon and be like 'welp...fuck the lot of you' to the wall. Because seriously, fuck, like, so many of those dudes. Then I want him to meet up with Dany and Tyrion, get some dragons, and smote those white walkers like it ain't no thing. :) (I'm probably reaching a little, but I don't care. Dragons! And Jon/Dany. ;) )

Yeah, being a woman is not good for your health in Game of Thrones, is it?

Good to hear the Red Woman is not quite as bad in the books. She is quite horrible in the series, but cool to. A little like a snake that way. Really don't like her though.

The death of Shireen was really a horrible scene. Let's burn our daughter at the stake, shall we? Ugh. Red Woman looked quite pleased during the whole thing, the bastard.

It would be cool if Jon came back for sure, but I'm trying to think a little logical. And hey, he could still fuck up those guys at the wall, because as you say... Fuck the lot of them.

I also don't think Jon is really dead. Or at least not permanently. And Sam is such a dear.

Sam really is awesome. :-) I've really enjoyed following his story arc. Such a sweet man who just tries to do the best of his situation and abilities... or lack thereof. :-)

There's a lot of people not thinking Jon is really dead, but I do. If he returns (unlikely according to me) it'll be as a white walker. I wouldn't put it past Thorne to throw him over the wall right into the hands of the walkers. And hence the walkers would have a lot of knowledge about the Nightwatch.

The thought of Jon returning as a White Walker chills me to the bone. But since GRR Martin likes to go for the maximum pain, I suppose your theory is much more likely than mine...

He does like to go for the most pain possible, don't he? I rather like that with the series, actually. Because you just never really know. :-) It's rare with series that way, where NO ONE is safe. :-D So it's refreshing in and off itself, even today when we've finished five seasons. :-)
