Update: MY NEW JOB!

I don't even know how to get all this in one post... o.O I'll try to anyway.

First off, my leg is doing fine. :-) Really well. It's still stiff and I lose my balance sometimes since all muscles aren't all OK yet, but all in all. I've lost my balance two times so far, but I haven't fallen over. So that's good!

I'll just do this in bullet-points. Hope you won't mind!

  • My new job is both more relaxed AND more to do than my previous job. How does that work, you ask? Well, more to do since I'm responsible for 6(!) school-libraries on the country-side and so have to drive between them, while my base of operation is at the library. It's more relaxed because even though there are many libraries, I can still decided what I wanna do in another matter, and I'll do the same thing for all the 1st graders (for example) at all schools, so it's less planning. And I get to do some work in the regular library as well. Win-win, if you ask me.

  • The first impression of the library I am at still holds what with being friendly and nice sweet workmates. To an extent. What has cracked some is the surface. I have to do a bit more work in the regular library, since one of the librarians there HAS run headfirst in the dreaded wall and had a breakdown. She has gotten better and works more, but she is NOT as OK as she thinks she is. Which ends up with the other librarian having to pick up a lot of her slack, which has him TO be on his way into said wall. To say the mood is not as good all days would be an understatement. :-P

  • I've ended up being the dishwasher. No one takes care of the staff kitchen. I guess that is part of the above, but still. Geezes. Having a nice kitchen and staff room does improve your mood.

  • The above mentioned male librarian is wonderful a man. He really is. A long haired old rocker boy who goes to festivals and concerts still. And he is a fan of various fantasy book series, and LOVES Game of Thrones. He also finds this thing with fandoms, fanfic, fandom-friends and all that to be really interesting. He don't like social media (like at all!), but he still finds it interesting so we talk about it quite a bit. :-) We're having a great time working together, we really do!

  • One of the first days I was alone and on my own I re-arranged the office I work from. One would think all librarians are organized. Not true, for your information. I'm not extremely so, but my predecessor was really a sad case.

  • Working from the library van/book van is AWESOME! :-D The schools and pre-schools we visit is so excited to see us! It's wonderful! People being excited about borrowing books makes me happy. And the driver is a HOOT! X-D A mom with six kids, one special needs. And a horse farm. And she's a diehard Dr Who fangirl who reads Dr Who fanfic and goes to convention. And who's husband is building her a Tardis on the farm. Thursdays with her are hilarious even if they are the longest day of the week for me. :-D

  • Best part about this is teachers and kids at the schools are all excited about seeing me. It's not like working at a school in the city where the teachers feel you are intruding and kinda don't want you there and the kids are bored and 'do we have to read another book?' You know the kind of attitude... Totally opposite in the schools on the countryside! Which is encouraging really and makes me happy to go to work!

  • My schedule is very up and down. Some very short days, some very long ones. And some very late ones and some very early ones. So even though Alexandra's schedule at daycare really changed, she is getting shorter days, so me getting this job was a win for her to, I'd say. Also, we get a smaller daycare bill. ;-)

All in all, I am very glad I took this opportunity to take this job. I think it was good for me, despite the downsides to it. I like my job. Still LOVE my boss! And my workmates are awesome, despite their flaws. I like it. I'm hired until the 31st of December. I hope I get to stay after that to. Fingers crossed!

Next post will be about New Yorkers on the swedish countryside!

This entry is crossposted between LJ and DW. Comment where you are comfortable.

Do they do your daycare bills there by the number of hours they are there?

I can't wait to hear more about the girls' visit with you.

Yep. That's correct. The one Alexandra goes to is goverment run, and it's EXCELLENT! And really close by to, so it's all awesome. :-) I got a mail from the goverment office the other day actually that said I'd paid to much according to the rules, so I'll get some money back even! :-D

Yeah, I'm working on that post. *lol* It ended up long! Oh dear... But that's because I had so much fun with my friend!

That's cool. From what a lot of my friends with kids have said most daycares here do it by day or by week. some by month. And the number of hrs you use it makes no difference.

Yeah, from what I remember from the US, that's how it worked there. You paid by the week and I don't think it mattered how many hours you had your kid there. Here it goes by how many hours a month and then you pay monthly. :-) So as soon as there's a change in mine or Peting's schedule, we have to let them know.

Great post! I love hearing about your job. :)

Thanx! I don't see my job as that exciting, I mean... Working with kids is mostly annoying at times. *lol* At least the kids out here on the countryside are less annoying. ;-)

That is amazing. Sounds like a great job!

I'm also glad you are doing well.

Yeah, it's a pretty great job, true. :-) I actually feel inspired going to work, which I guess is pretty rare. :-D

I'm busy as fuck this summer but I am doing pretty good. :-) I hope you are to!

It is pretty rare. I RARELY feel inspired at work.

Busy also means money which is always good.

Thanks. I'm doing alright.

I know. I rarely do to. But I guess that means this job fits me. :-)

I'm glad that you are liking your new job and it seems to be what you were looking for. Definitely better than the last job! Yay! I hope you are able to keep it past the new year, I'm sure you will - you are awesome and they'd be crazy not to keep you!

Oh yeah, it's definitly what I was looking for. Much better than the other school libraries I've worked at. Not that they were BAD in any way, but so much more to do there. Which is odd, since I am responsible for so many more schools now. :-P

I don't know how to interpret that, but I am taking it as a good comment. *LOL* :-D
