Rambling on about my kid...
Oh, these days... I am not sure what to say about it.
I keep trying to get caught up with things, but failing. Not online, but RL things.
Alexandra is 1 year old. Crazy. That means I can't stay at home anymore getting parents' allowance. You get a certain amount of days for that, paid 80% of your regular allowance or a the minimum-wage. (I get the minimum one.) I have saved quite a bit of days, so I can stay home September to, but after that? Back to work.
And Alexandra will go to daycare. There are some really really good ones around here, and we wished for the closest and the best (according to mom's I've talked to at Open Preschool that have older kids to). It has a HUGE garden with toys and stuff on it, and looks really nice when I walk by when the people working there are outside with the kids. It looks just AWESOME! But.... it was full. :-/ No room for more kids. So we got another place, still within walking distance, but a bit further away. Also looks very nice and all, but I was a bit disappointed we couldn't get our first choice. Their all government run, like most day care places are here. So we can still stand in line for our first choice, while she is at this place though, so I hope it'll work out in the end.
My problem though is that I got this schedule in the mail to fill in with my working hours.
.....
I don't have a set working schedule. I can't fill it in. I am hired by the hour. Some weeks I might work a lot. Some weeks I might not work at all. It is very different day to day. And when I don't work, I go downtown looking for work, so it is all up in the air there. *sigh* I think I'll just go over there and talk to the staff. I mean, I am new to all this. Alexandra is my first kid, I've never dealt with daycare stuff before.
Awesome thing is though, that even if I am partly unemployed and only hired by the hour, we have a right to 15 hours of daycare a week. Meaning I can get a breather and hopefully be a better mom. :-D Plus, Alexandra gets to socialize with other kids and learn new things.
Win-win!
I hope it'll turn out great, I really do. She is already quite social with other kids and very curious on other kids, so I think she'll do great. I took her for a walk today, and we stopped at a playground where there were quite a bit of kids in various ages playing. All of them were older than Alexandra, but she looked like she had fun crawling around in the sand among the kids and sitting in the swing while I pushed her. (She loves swings.)
So it'll be fine. :-) I am proud of her, even when she... as today... has really bad days and NOTHING mom dose is fun... except when I take her out to playgrounds and push her swing. *LOL*
We went to her 1-year check up yesterday to! Which went really fine. She got approved on all accounts! *LOL* So now I know she is 74 centimeters tall (29 inches) and weighs 9.5 kilos (20.9 pounds). And she can do all the things a 1-year old is supposed to be able to do. :-)
Also, she got a set of vaccine-shots... So I guess that would explain her bad mood today. Seriously. She had a MOOD! Yes. It requires all caps. :-P
Right, so...
My life as a mom. What can I say? Exciting, eh?

It's interesting to discuss the differences. I never really get why the US is so scared of having government run things. It doesn't make it dangerous... :-P
I am very grateful for the way it works here. It made sure I could stay at home with Alexandra and see her grow this first important year. And even though I am unemployed she still has a right to stay at daycare for 15 hours each week to make sure it is easier for me to get a job. I find that pretty damn awesome as well.
