Wohoo! I had SUCH a great great night last night! Of course, I've paid for it today with extremely tired feet, but dammit... IT WAS WORTH IT!

See, here in this city Borås they have this thing during the summer called SummerThursdays. :-) It means that every Thursday during summer the stores are open until late in the night, all the coffee-shops as is all the pubs and nightclubs and such... AND! There is a free concert on the main city square! :-D With various artists and various music genres. :-) And last night? Last night it was rock / heavy metal on the schedule... :-D And HOLY SHIT! It rocked! :-D So much!

The band playing called themselves Metal Allstars... because they are just a bunch of friends from various rock / heavy metal bands that like to play together. :-) And did they EVER! Had the entire city square singing along and cheering to old rock / heavy metal classics like Living after midnight (Judas Priest), Enter Sandman (Metallica), T.N.T + Highway to Hell (AC/DC), Ace of Spades (Motörhead), Here I Go Again (Whitesnake).... Of course they played a lot more from other classic rock / heavy metal bands, but those are the ones I remember right now. :-) Oh, it was SO MUCH FUN!

The members of Metal Allstars are these: Mats Levén (a brilliant rock/metal singer, my gawd what a voice!), Kicken Lundqvist (drummer who used to be a member of The Poodles), John Levén (bassist from the old band Europé) and also Pontus Norgren (who is from the band HammerFall).

I was standing quite far back, where I could lean and sit on a low stone wall. :-) I could still see the stage pretty good and I avoided the heaviest bas from the speakers (didn't wanna go into labor then and there... X-D ). Nerd Jr seemed to enjoy the music though, moving around in there when the music was playing! :-D I wasn't there alone, of course. [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit was with me to, and we had a great night! Even though music like this is not her kind of music normally. :-) She usually listens to musicals, folkmusic and such... But we still had a lot of fun!

Of course we took a few photos, but not many came out good. :-P Here are the two that did though. :-) Can click both for bigger.

Me VERY pregnant and VERY happy listening to great great music leaning on a low stone wall! :-D

This is the best photo I could get off the stage. Not great, but yeah.... At least one can see how big the audience is? :-)

They kept it up from 9pm to 10:20pm, so that's pretty good for a free concert, I'd say! :-D Not all artists and bands that have played here have kept up for that long. :-) Really awesome! And afterwards they were to play at a nightclub to from midnight onwards. :-) Of course, me and my belly couldn't deal with that, but still... It was brilliant to watch them live on the city square. :-D

I checked YouTube today, just on a whim... and HELLO! Someone has managed to get some great photoage from the concert with pretty good sound to! :-D I highly suggest you check it out!:

(And LINK! Just in case...)

After all that music, me and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit went to check the busses... and promptly had to wait for 30mins before my next bus would arrive. :-P So we just had a sitdown and talked like us two old friends do all the time. :-) About EVERYTHING. :-D A brilliant ending to a brilliant night. :-)

Sounds like you had a really good evening! I had no idea they played togheter, and hey, they are pretty much "all stars" we got in Sweden (if you like music and not pop....;-) ) And I had no idea that Borås had something like that, though I have friends and family in Borås, sounds much better than our "Malmö festivalen" with everyting on one week, mening you can't see everything you like and the city is full of drunk teen agers...

Oh yes. :-) I had a wonderful evening, won't lie. :-D The band was so, so good... Such a joy to listen to and sing along with. :-D

Of course, just because they have this every Thursday during the summer... all the little drunk teens show up every single Thursday... Especially in the city park, downtown. :-/ Sad thing that. Cops and "Mom + Dads Downtown" do their best, of course, but one can't be everywhere at all times. So yeah. Those drunk teenagers? We have them once a week. :-P

But at least it is spread out, so if you want to see a specific band or such, you can. :-) Even got a website for it: Sommartorsdagarna (http://www.borascity.se/sommartorsdagarna). :-)

Yeah, that is really sad to see, and so hard to deal with. I mean, I work with kids like that all the time, the big problem when it comes to drunk teens seems to be that they are often from familys with some money, kids can get alcohol anywhere, but it cost a lot of money (it is acctuly cheeper with "easy" drugs in most places in Sweden 0_0 ) and nobody mess with the "good" peoples kids, it's much harder to make a doctor understnad that his little prinsess has a problem than it is dealing with a unempoyed single mum 9 times out of 10. Okay, of topic, but it bugs me. It sounds like a really good thing to have in the summer, are there any more band you are looking forward to?

I can see why it bugs you, yeah... :-P It bugs me to. :-/ When kid gets old enough and starts school and such, chances are I'll end up being active in something like "Moms + Dads Downtown" as well. My mom was when I grew up, but that was in a teeny tiny town. Borås is much bigger than that, so we'll see. I think I will though.

I would have loved to watch Kalle Moraeus as well on 9th of August. But alas, I'll probably either have a new born Nerd Jr then OR be in delivery. ;-) So no can do. :-)

Ha ha ha! :-D I do look like a rockin' mama, don't I? X-D There was quite a few in the audience to, with their babies in prams that rocked out sitting in them! X-D Of course with hearing protection, since you know... Kids ears are a bit more sensitive. :-) It was awesome to see though! :-D

Girl. you live in New York... THE FUCKING BIG APPLE! o.O There should be plenty stuff going on in that city! You do know that there is almost as many people living in New York City as it is in the ENTIRE COUNTRY OF SWEDEN, right? o.O

I do believe there are enough happenings in such a huge city, honestly. ;-)

And that shirt was actually a gift from my brother and his family. :-) My brother, who doesn't even like books! *lol* At least he knows his sister well. ;-)
