This is KSena

Usually a friendly sort. Be nice to me, and I am nice to you. Here I ramble on about me, life, work and fandoms. I am a fan of Robin of Sherwood, Xena: Warrior Princess, Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tokio Hotel and Sons of Anarchy. I don't apologize for anything I write here. This is my mind. And you entered it. Welcome.

Alright. I've been thinking and thinking about what to do for the 100 Things Blogging Challenge... And I think I know what to do now. It wasn't easy... But here goes the first post. :-)

{Take the 100 Things challenge!}

My 100 things will be:

Great Things to read (Books/Comics/Fanfic)!

Considering my profession, my masters thesis AND what I like to do on my free time... It really was the best option. :-D Some of these post will most likely be NSFW, depending on the book/comic/fanfic, but I'll mark it so and put behind a cut if that is the case. :-)

And this, my first post, is actually connected to TWO of the subjects! :-D Because it is a fantasy book series. There are three books in the series and they are amazing. :-) AND they are written by a friend on my f-list, [livejournal.com profile] shapinglight aka Kim Fielding. Who also writes some of the BEST fanfic in the Buffy-fandom out there! Chances are, she'll show up again with a fanfic or two... ;-)

ANYWAY!

Her fantasy series it was I'll be talking off today. :-) And since I bought them... Have a photo!

First book is called Stasis and introduces the main character, Ennek. He lives in a country that is very much a harsh city-state called Praesidium. And the ruler of said state... is his Father. On one of Enneks adventures down Below in the Keep where he lives with his father... where those who have broken any law (thievery, prostitution etc and also homosexuality) in Praesidium is set in the magic state called stasis, a state they are held in where they are not alive and not dead is without any feelings.... There Ennek runs into a man that... makes sounds, noises... and looks at him with unseeing eyes...

This chance meeting during his childhood sets many events in motion for Ennek, who as an adult and the Chiefs son, has had to hide who he really is...

The books are VERY well written, I'd say! Kim Fielding is a brilliant author, which of course after reading her fanfics I already knew. So to go all the way and buy these books in printed version was NOT a hard decision. ;-) To be able to follow Enneks adventures, and later... together with his partner Miner... has been an amazing ride! The twists and turns in the plots came and hit me right out of left field everytime! (Well, except once... *lol*)

All three of these books have been written during NaNoWriMo, and it is really really impressive how she has managed to create such a living breathing world filled with harsh political leaders, magicians, evil and good... and also mix in homosexuality and the difficulties it is to be gay in a world where that is punishable with a fate worse then death... I really did love these books and am very happy to have them in my bookshelf. :-)

If you wanna buy them to, you can on Amazon (where I got mine):

Stasis (part one) right HERE. (Kindle edition HERE.)
Flux (part two) right HERE. (Kindle edition HERE.)
Equipoise (part three) right HERE. (Kindle edition HERE.)

They are definitely worth it. :-)

Next of these posts? Comic, fanfic, book? No idea. We'll see, I suppose. :-D

Glad you approve! :-D I hope I can spread some reading material around. :-) I'll try to limit myself to such books that are translated, so it don't matter what country you are from. :-) Since there are not that many Swedes reading, after all. ;-) But I am sure I can find a lot to share still! :-D
