So today is [livejournal.com profile] peting73s birthday. WOHOO! Much love to the best man/lover on the planet! At least according to me! :-D

Go to his LJ and tell him happy birthday! :-D

So this week I haven't don that much, to be honest. More then keeping [livejournal.com profile] peting73 company here in the computer room (much World of Warcraft have been played, much slash-stories have been discussed....). He is this firm believer that you should be off work the week you have your birthday, so hence he has been home this week. :-) It has been quite nice, actually. Especially when we made a mess of the kitchen to make the cakes and cookies for his birthday party.... *grin* That sure was interesting! And I got help cleaning the apartment before people came here to, so all good!

Yesterday[livejournal.com profile] peting73 mom and aunt with family came over. My aunt called and said she and my cousin were coming over for a surprise visit as well, so yay! A lot of people here, all fun. And lots of gifts for [livejournal.com profile] peting73. He deserves it, says I. :-)

He got a new lens for his camera from me and my mom. He got one of those serious system cameras, so a lens isn't exactly cheap... And still I bought one of the cheaper ones! But yeah. It is much better then the one he got, and has been playing around with it like woa.... as have I. :-) Lots of fun!

Be prepared to be spammed with photos of cakes and cookies! I can't draw for shit and I am not that good at writing (although a plot bunny has moved into my head these last days.....). But if it is one thing I am good at, it is making sweets... So enjoy!

(These photos is taken both by me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73.)

The biggest experiment we did was to make these Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes... I am not kidding. These are chocolate cupcakes with chocolate chip cookie dough in them. As you can see here with the cupcake batter and a little piece of cookie dough in each. Ready to go in the oven.

A close up off the cupcake batter with the cookie dough in it. :-)

Me taking the cupcakes out of the oven... Can't you just smell how delicious they are? :-D [livejournal.com profile] peting73 plans on entering this photo in a photo-contest in one of the photo-communities he is in. The thing they had to try and photograph this month was... smell. X-D I'd say [livejournal.com profile] peting73 got it, wouldn't you? ;-)

Of course we weren't alone in the kitchen! X-D Oh no, our nutsy cat Verdandi joined in! She loves to be in the kitchen sink. And things get even more awesome if we turn on the tap! *laugh* So here is Verdandi drinking water right from the tap! *laugh* Silly cat...

And so the big day yesterday when everyone came over and we had our little birthday party. :-) On the blue plate is a cookie called Farmers cookies, that [livejournal.com profile] peting73 loves and I have to make every year on his birthday. On the high plate the Chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes. In front of them is the birthday cake, a cake called Princess cake after some swedish princesses called the Haga Princesses during the 1940's. These princesses are sisters to our Royal Highness the King of Sweden. :-) Anyway, they all loved this kind of cake when growing up, so it is quite popular in Sweden. On the last plate in the background is some pieces of a cinnamon roll. Lets just say it was all delicious! :-D

Some flowers [livejournal.com profile] peting73 got from mom. :-) Pretty, yeah?

Verdandi again shows off how crazy she is! That cats loves to crawl into things... Especially bags, whether it be hand bags or paper bags! Seeing this and having a new lens to play with, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 decided she was a great model to practice on! X-D Lets just say it took a few tries since she likes to crawl around in said bags... *laugh* Yeah, our cats are a just this side of nuts. ;-)

Right. :-) I hope you enjoyed that!

And I really should make an introduction post or something, since I really got a lot of new LJ-friends lately! But that'll be for another day. In the meantime, Welcome one and all! Make yourself comfortable. I am sure there is whiskey or vodka here somewhere... and the porn is not far off either... *grins* ;-)

I have to try those cookie dough cupcakes... They look absolutely wonderful. (And I can almost smell them...) But gaaah, imperial-to-metric-conversion, how I hate thee...

Also, wish Peting a very happy birthday from me!

(And your cats are crazy. But cute!)

Yeah, our cat's aren't quite right, but we love them none the less. :-) *pats cat on desk*

I do recommend testing those cupcakes! It wasn't as hard as I first thought. :-) And I changed the recipe to metric using this site: Online Conversion (http://www.onlineconversion.com/). A very practical little site. ;-) Good luck!

Thanks for the link, that site is much easier to use than the conversion site I had bookmarked. New link has been added to my "quick reference" bookmarks. (Yes, I have a "Quick reference" section in my private bookmarks. I am a librarian to my very core, I think...)

Yeah, it is an awesome site! I don't remember how I found it, but it is damn practical. You can convert almost everything on there!

Those cakes look lovely! Almost tempted to have a go except I've given up bothering with American recipes because it's such hassle (I don't understand what they have against kitchen scales...).

If you got a good online conversion site, it is not that much of a hassle, trust me. ;-) We're metric here in Sweden, so I had to convert the recipe to. :-) Worked alright, so yeah. It is worth it, trust me. I use this site when converting stuff: Oline Conversion (http://www.onlineconversion.com/). It is BRILLIANT! :-)

Trouble is you have to use the converter for every ingredient since mass & weight are 2 different things, so it's not merely a case of working out a formula to apply. And that's before you get to their habit of giving measurements in 'packets' & 'sticks' (what kind of weirdos buy butter in stick form?) without saying how big those thing are, & using branded names for so much stuff.

I've gotten so sick of having to google & convert every ingredient it's got to the point where the moment I see the word 'cups' in the measurements I just hit the back button & make a mental note to look for the recipe done properly when I have a spare moment.

Oh, I didn't do it that seriously. :-) I just converted cups to deciliter. Then I converted tbsp to, well, tbsp and tsps to... well, tsps. :-) Thats the only thing I did. I didn't give a crap about if it is a runny ingredient or not. And sticks? Didn't give a crap about that either, but used the tbsps measurement instead. :-) The cupcakes? Perfect. :-D I never over-think it when I convert recipes, but do it as easily as possible. I have never failed. ;-)

Well, eating the photos might not be that tasty... *smirk* ;-D

I hope he'll win to. :-) He loves taking photos, although he don't have that much time since he is working evenings nowadays. :-P
