Usually a friendly sort. Be nice to me, and I am nice to you. Here I ramble on about me, life, work and fandoms. I am a fan of Robin of Sherwood, Xena: Warrior Princess, Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tokio Hotel and Sons of Anarchy. I don't apologize for anything I write here. I bet that title caught your attention, yes? X-D

Well, tomorrow it is time for the vampire- LARP. Rose Valentine and her lover Nils Turesson Bielke is the hosts for the evening. And, like good hosts they'll of course offer refreshments to there guests. And what do you offer a vampire? Well... blood. :-)

Some time ago a LARPer shared this site: The Raven's Fake Blood Recipes. They are brilliant! LARPer in question also brought some fake blood over to a LARP that he had made from the recipe called realistic looking mint blood. It was so sweet it almost hurt my teeth! o.O So, I decided to go with another recipe that must have been made with woman vampire-LARPers in mind: Chocolate blood. ;-)

So... Off to the kitchen we went, me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 to take photos of this experiment. X-D

Best part with this is that there is nothing dangerous in the recipe. See? Cocoa, syrup, yellow food colouring, green food colouring, red food colouring (of course!). Thats it. I also got a glass-bowl to mix in, so you could see the silliness. :-)

Water, cocoa and syrup so far. A messy job to make blood, I must say...

Mix, mix.... I admit, I couldn't stop giggle the entire time I was doing this, X-D

I almost dropped the red colouring in the bowl, so it a bit to much red colouring and a bit to much water in this batch. But it still looks kinda cool. The water we used for this one was cold, so it was a bit hard to mix out the cocoa.

So we tried again, with less water (and hot this time), less red and it turned out much, much better. Looked great. Tasted really really sweet and very chocolaty. Not as sweet as the other kind of blood on that site though, so an improvement definitly.

Looks quite realistic don't it? Yeah. It does look quite real, I'd say. Will do it's job in wine-glasses tomorrow in candle-light... :-D
(Note: THIS IS NOT REAL BLOOD! IT IS FAKE!!!!)

Just to test said theory, I did save the successful batch in the fridge and then poured it up in a wine-glass to see what it looked like. :-)

Hmm... Yummy...
(Note: THIS IS NOT REAL BLOOD! IT IS FAKE!!!!)

It still looks pretty good in the wine-glass even when I drink it, hmm? As said, it mostly tastes off sweet chocolate, so I think I can survive drinking it, yes. But I doubt I'll have to do much off it, since it is so sweet, I don't think anyone can stomach to drink more then one glass. ;-)
(Note: THIS IS NOT REAL BLOOD! IT IS FAKE!!!!)

Plans done and ready for the vampire-LARP tomorrow! :-D I am so looking forward to this, you have no idea. I hope I didn't freak people out to much with this post. ;-)

Blood-giving girl...

Looks blood-likey enough to me. The last pic is so cool, though just a tad disturbing... *grin* But hey, it´s vampires! :-)

I´m glad neither Rose or Nils have turned to dust yet. Good luck tomorrow!

It was quite amazing when I put droplets on my arm, it really looked like real blood then. :-) I'll make a big batch tomorrow and bring to the LARP. It will be very interesting to see how many LARPers actually dare to taste it. ;-)

And yes, the quite mentally instable couple are still on the lose. Although Nils has permanently moved in with Rose, I would say, since his him has literary been blown to smithereens... o.O And now when we are hosts, things will probably go to hell... They always do when you are a host off a gathering. X-D

It´s also a good thing you mentioned "fake, not real" at some of the pics. The one with the droplets for example...

I´ll cross my fingers for you tomorrow. Myself, I´ll go watch a movie. Either "Flickan som lekte med elden" or Inglorious Bastards. I´m so curious about both!

Yeah, when I saw the photo's with the droplets I figured I'd put that note there just to be on the safe side. :-P

I haven't seen Flickan som lekte med elden, but according to the librarians I work with it is supposed to be a very good movie, following the book very well.

We saw the original Inglorious Besterds today. :-D It is an old B-action-movie from 1977. ;-) It sucks, but is so silly sometimes it is fun. Apparently it is Tarantino's favorite movie. I loved his version more though. Sinc it is so... Tarantino. X-D

There is edible stage blood made by mehron (it's mint flavored) but really cheap blood is made with orange colored shampoo, red food coloring, and babypowder. We had to make a LOT of it for our PotC/Sweeney Todd crossover I've not yet posted.

Raspberry crystal light works really well too. Right color, thicken up with apple juice to drink.

If I had an american store close by, I'd go shop in it. Alas, I don't so I'll have to make my own blood... in a matter of speaking. :-P

I can't even find it here. The internet is for more than p0rn!

I'm sure some european company carries it.... costume stores...do you all have halloween stores this time of year?

Of course, I'm not dedicated enough to cook anything. Even blood. :D

Nope. Halloween ain't celebrated here, so no. No Halloween-stores, sadly. And the point with this blood was that it you should be able to drink it. :-) And water, syrup and cocoa is pretty much food. :-) It wasn't that hard to cook. Kitchen got a bit messy, but it was easy to clean to, so it all worked out fine, I'd say.

Thanx! And yes, it was. Considering how sweet it tasted, I didn't think anyone would drink much off it, but it all disappeared quite quickly! X-D Definitly a success! Did a lot to make the whole feel of the LARP yesterday go up a notch or two. ;-)

Ha ha ha! X-D I guess your right! You should try making some for Halloween. :-) It is very easy, and if you make just one batch it isn't that much (and not 3 liters, like I did.... o.O)

I would, but I am spending my Halloween party with a bunch of eight year olds and I fear that them, in combination with fake blood and my library, is a very bead idea...

Will there be any haloween party this year for you?

Mwahahaha! Well, blood on books is messy to, your right there. X-D

Nope, no Halloween party for me. I don't know anyone that are active in the Student Union anymore. Just the oldies. :-) Might if one of my LARP-friends arrange something, you never know. :-) Might have to dig out my old Xena-costume then. Although I think it is to big by now. *laugh* How about you? Or is the scary night at the library the only planned thing?
