Health, books and Game of Thrones...

Weekend: Not been very fun, no. :-P Apparently I got the cold from Hades. *head-desk* It has made me a lil lazy to be honest. :-P Energy on an all time low and all that.

So Thursday I started having cramps... plus coughing my lungs out and sneezing at all times. FUN! Not. :-P And I think I had a little fever to. Seriously. I spent most off Thursday on the couch since I had no energy for ANYTHING. Then Friday, still cramps, coughing, sneezing... Same thing Saturday although... I did feel a lil better be the afternoon though. Most importantly, the cramps went away.

And today, Monday. Not sneezing or coughing even half as much as I used to. THANK YOU!

Worst part was that on Thursday? Well, the library where I am hired by the hour, the big city library, called and wanted me to work. The entire weekend. o.O Since I had pretty much just woken up from my slumber on the couch right when they called, I figured yeah... 3 hours a day... I should be able to fix that even if I am not 100%. Waking up on Friday though... No way. So I called them back, and felt really bad about it to, telling them I couldn't do it. I did feel really, really bad about, because I KNOW they have trouble making sure all information desks are filled as soon as there is a meeting or anyone is missing. So yeah. Felt bad about that. They told me not to, and left it at that. They are really good people there, I gotta say. Love working at that library. Gonna work there tomorrow a few hours since plenty off them are off on a meeting, so they called in me and my friend to work the information desk. :-) Fun, fun! I do like helping visitors/patrons finding books and such.

I have two books myself to pick up to! [livejournal.com profile] peting73s best work-mate J has just discovered fantasy and wanted simple fantasy-reading... Well, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 is more into scifi, so he asked me. Simple and easy to read fun fantasy? My favorite, David Eddings. Easy. I know, I KNOW!!! It is definitely not high fantasy or even that good, but I love LOVE the sense of humor in his books. Especially in his first series: The Belgariad + The Malloreon and The Elenium + The Tamuli. The rest off his books? Kinda sucks. Avoid, avoid. But those series? Very amusing. The Elenium + The Tamuli was the first fantasy books my mom ever got her hands on. She feel head over heels with the main character, and loved the sense of humor to. So after that? She's read more and more fantasy, buying books and creating a lil fantasy-shelf herself. She even read The Hobbit + The Ring Trilogy! And that is NO easy reading, let me tell you! To be honest, I've tried to re-read Tolkiens books, and I can't.... I just... can't. 500 pages to say they walked from point A to point B? Eh... I'll skip, thank you. The story is amazing, but the language in Tolkiens books? SOOOOOOO BORING! Shoot me. :-P

ANYHOW! I am going to pick up book one and two of The Belgariad for [livejournal.com profile] peting73s friend. :-) They are just what he wanted. Easy fantasy reading with a sense of humor. So I hope he'll like them. :-) And that he won't be teased for enjoying them. Because I am. Every time I say I really, really like these books to another fantasy-fan? I get shoot down, like you wouldn't believe. :-/ *grumble, grumble*

Talking off fantasy though! I can't wait until Wednesday when the next part of Game of Thrones show up on TV! :-D I've read a bit more about the series since last, and checked out photos, actor interviews and such.... Carefully though! I don't wanna be spoiled to badly!

And I've found a new favorite. You know me... An old rocker chick... so my heart beats a little harder for those tall dark bad boys with long hair, yeah?

Well... What is Kahl Drogo but a SERIOUS bad boy with hair going down past his ass... We discussed the series a bit me and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit... (Yep, she fell for said series to...) and shared links to pics and such over MSN... Then we found this pic:

Aaaaaaand we both pretty much died... o.O Is it Wednesday yet?

You can't help being sick! And staying home and getting better is the best thing in the long run.

You need to take care of you - the library will take care of itself. <3

Oooo, that's a nice pic! Totally lost my train of thought at seeing that!

I'm so glad to hear you're feeling a little bit better. Your cold sounds horrible! Hope you can get well soon! <3 You can't help missing work when you're that sick, and maybe it was better that you didn't share your germs with your co-workers. :P I'm sure they'll be happy to see you back tomorrow, well, today. Have a good one!

I'll publicly admit that I like The Belgariad and The Malloreon! And the first book of the other series, as that's the only one I've read. You are not alone! Although I'll admit they are a bit of a guilty pleasure, it's not exactly good literature... But who cares. They're fun to read. *grins*

Haha, my mom and I read the Belgariad many, many years ago. My uncles recommended them because he said they were similar to Tolkien. I was 8 year old, I think, and nursing my heartbreak over finishing LOTR. We were actually really disappointed in the series: I especially missed the artful language Tolkien used; the vivid characters and descriptions. I didn't like it at all and have never recommended it to anyone. It may have fallen short because I was looking for the deep-seated layers of hidden meaning I found in every page of lOTR; or it may have fallen short because I kept expecting it to be something it wasn't. ON another note, I'm really glad you're feeling better!

Sorry to hear you are/been ill, I hope you feel better now! And I know the feeling then you have to call in sick, knowing they really need you.

But the language in Tolkiens books boring?!?! Are you out of your mind, woman!? Or sicker than you thought? ;-) I just LOVE his way with words, I reread all the books one christmas when I was ill. But you shouldn't read him if you are pregnant, same goes for "Arn böckerna", you idea of good, normal name gets a bit... different ;-) (let us put it this way, my children shall be glad they are girls and not boys ;-)
