Catching up on shit!

Wow... o.O I can't believe how caught up I am with everything today. Despite my crazy morning.

Yeah, I overslept this morning. *lol* I don't know WHERE my mind was, but apparently I thought it was a good idea to get up at 7:30am, when I need to go out to the buss at 8:15am... since I started work at 9am this morning... Somehow I thought I had 2 hours on me there... when really I didn't. Thank gawd for [livejournal.com profile] peting73 pointing out the flaw in this plan (at 8:30am...). Cue me stressing THE FUCK OUT! And then he drove me to work. SAVED by my awesome hubby! :-D

One might think that with such a start my day might go from bad to worse, right? But actually, it has been a pretty good day at work today. I think I am getting used to longer days and all what that entails. All good in my book. :-) And now the other librarians start to push me to try and get a job there... I mean, the deal I am on now is that I work 30 hours a week all of January and then I go back to do random hours again... But now they keep talking like "Oh when you work here for real..." Dude. X-D There are no positions! *lol* But hey, within two more years, I think four more librarians are getting retired, so... There will be a need for more librarians shortly. I just have to digg my claws in and be a stubborn bastard.

One of them told me it is a good thing to specialize in a certain litterature. Well, that is easy to pick. Not kids books (nice as they are) or adult books. No. If I'd specialize in anything, it so to work with teens and young adult books / teen books. Apparently, not that usual and therefor a good thing when looking for work. Go me! :-D

Right. Oh, and the little vid I posted the other day at [livejournal.com profile] gs_daily has... apparently started some G's movement or something on my f-list. *lol* Hey, watch me not complaining. Continue talking about them. It is all of the good. (And if you are not a member of said community, what are you waiting for?!?!?!) Damn, them boys... I hope they really enjoy their time off though, writing music, hanging out with family and friends. :-)

I wanna thank my f-list for all the fun questions I got for that meme in my last post! They were a lot of fun to answer, and I really had to think some to be able to answer some of them. Good exercise! Always good to use your brain somewhat, ain't it? ;-)

Today I got caught up with my backlog of regular mail... I had about 60-65 unanswered email in my inbox... after cleanout and answering most of them... I am now down to ten (who are answered, but I wanna keep). DAMN! And all comments are answered, I am all caught up on my flist as well... o.O Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket or something...

Right, so...

Tomorrow I have a really short day at work, and damn if I am not going to enjoy it! :-D

Sounds like your day turnd out really good after all :) And god, to be caught up, I don't think I even remember last time that happen LoL. Teen books are fun, it's an interesting and a bit forgotten part I think, a good chooies in other words :)

Sure did. :-) Still a bit shocked at the fact I managed to get so caught up. o.O But it was good. :-) A bit of a weight lifted off my shoulders as it were. ;-)

I never really thought much about YA lit, even when I was reading it, but considering my reading material as of late, its probably not all that surprising that i've taken note of it. Seems like a fun field to specialize in. :D

That video ... well, it really touched me, obviously. I'm so grateful that you found and posted it!

Yeah. :-) Usually librarians specialize in literature for adults... or kids. But forget that in between age, the teens. :-) Of course I'll still work for and with comics/graphic novels and fantasy/scifi, but it is good to specialize in something broader or so I've been told.

And that vid... When something makes ME wibble, you know it is good...

THANKS FOR THE CANDY!!! i haven't opened it yet- waiting for a special occasion- but i promise when i do i WILL share it with zach :D love you for giving the best gift of all, FOOD AND JUNK FOOD!!

I'm sort of surprised, i would have thought you'd specialize for fantasy books, but i can see young adult as well. have you read the hunger games yet?

and hey. your co-workers love you, and you're dependable and reliable and a great worker. i KNOW you'll get a position when one opens up- especially if you have to be a stubborn bastard. because that's just, more of the same, isn't it?
<3

Ha ha ha! I remember you ate all the other candy I sent you without sharing with Zach, so I had to make sure you'd remember to share with him this time. ;-) I hope you'll enjoy it all! :-D Even if it took a WHOLE MONTH OR SO for it to get there! o.O It should still be good though. ;-)

Of course I'd still work with and for fantasy/scifi AND comics/graphic novels... But to specialize in something broader is almost asked for today... Most librarians go for adult literature OR kids literature... forgetting the ages in between... teen books. :-)

Oh I think you are doing absolutely the right thing to focus on teen/young adult books and what more, you should look into e-reading and such, and why not start circles/theme-meetings at the library for teens who like to write, introduce them to fanfic... I know of a teacher who used some huge fanfic site in their language classes.

[identity profile] kseenaa.livejournal.com 2012-01-19 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes! Yes, yes, yes! I actually have a book here now, a scientific book who has taken a look at fanfiction and how you can use it to work with teens and kids... And do you know what? Tokio Hotel fanfiction IS MENTIONED! X-D I cracked up when I read that, I swear to gawd! So yes, and YES! If I can, and if I get hired... Fanfiction will most definitely be used!

Now I will still work with and for comics/graphic novels and fantasy/scifi, but you need to have a broader field to, and since most librarians go for either adult literature or kids literature... the in between age, teens, gets a bit forgotten. :-)
