Good gawd what a fucking day.... Geezes. o.O Lets put it down in a bullet-list, shall we? :-P

  • Getting up at 5:30am to get a shower and get ready for work.

  • Boss / colleague calls telling me she is sick at around 7am while I put on a little makeup. I almost panic, this being the busiest day of the week. She is giving me a list of things to do while coughing up half a lung...

  • 8am leaving for work, thankful I have the car today.

  • 8:30am, first order of business, talk about medieval clothing with the 5th graders and showing off the medieval clothes that I have made myself and brought, plus some other stuff that I used when I was active with SCA Nordmark. The kids loved it, was really paying attention and listend (rare at this school) and posed as little models in my huge clothes.

  • 9:05am. Open library five minutes late. Be invaded by kids and teachers. GEEZ! At least they like there library.

  • Around 11am. Finally the flood of kids and teachers slow down and I can breath a little.

  • 12am (pm?). Close the library, call the school caretaker so he could help me move a ton of chairs and tables in preparation of the next thing. Run to get a quick lunch (bringing my calender, since teacher constantly jump me in the lunchroom with questions about appointments for their classes).

  • 12:30pm. Other librarians who are to have a little theater show comes to the library and start dressing up as characters from some really popular childrens books (KrĂ„kan och Mamma Mu).

  • Around 1pm. A ton of kids from different daycare centers show up at the library to see the little theater show. At least 40 of them. Get them all settled down and in place... takes some time. Show starts 10mins to late

  • Around 1:40pm. Show ends. Trying to get all the kids out as quick as possible. Of course they want to borrow books to bring to their daycare center as well. I help them with a smile. I groan inside.

  • 2pm. Run to shop a ton of candy, soda, snacks and shit for the evening. It is heavy as hell, and going back to the library is all uphill.... FML.

  • 2:30pm. Get help from the schools special pedagogue to prepare for the evening (as she is a friend to my boss / colleague). Get all the chairs and tables back in place and what not, fixing up the snacks and candy.

  • 3:15pm. Leave school and go home. Should have left at 3pm or earlier. That failed.

  • Staying at home collapsing for an hour on the couch. Reading mail and stuff. Not happy about all off it, but dealing. VERY happy about some of it. And dealing with that to.

  • 5:30pm. Goes back to work. Don't want to. Have to.

  • 6pm. Opens the library again, since the school has a Spring Vernissage where some of the schools kids get to show off there arts, the headmaster holding a speech and what not. It is all in the library, and my boss / colleague (who had to be sick today!) is involved in organizing the thing. It goes well. A ton of kids and their families are there and having a good time.

  • 7pm. Closing the library for the second time today, leaving 10mins later.

  • 7:30pm. HOME!!! OH MY GAWD! HOME!!!!

So to say this has been one HELL of a day would be an understatement. And then I have to be at work a bit early tomorrow to. *sigh* Since there are two classes off 5th graders, and tomorrow I'll talk to those I didn't talk to today.... more medieval talking. Funny. I haven't been involved in medieval reenactment for years.... But it is as if all this information has never left me, and I can pick it up just like that. It is scary, actually. But at least thats all I have to do tomorrow. Well, and keep the library open. Thank gawd for that. No more days like this, plx.... :-P

I think I'll make this an early night.... Because I have a feeling I'll need my rest to be a halfway decent human being tomorrow.

Deadly bottle...

I am living for next week when there is Easter holiday and ALL schools are closed.... meaning the school-library is closed all week. Meaning no kids. Meaning I can leave early each day.... Soon... SOON!

At least it is over & you made it out alive! It sounds like you had a crazy crazy day but it looks like you handed it very well! =o) That's so awesome that the 5th graders were into your presentation, I was always fascinated by that era. =o)
I help them with a smile. I groan inside :: This should be my motto, I live in this attitude at work.. with most people, not everyone.. but the general rule.. yep!

Yeah, I try to think like that to. I made it. I made everything work. Even if I am kinda cracked after it all. Hopefully I can leave early tomorrow. Hopefully! *crosses fingers*

Yeah, it really... just was one of those days, you know? I am proud of myself for making everything work, despite it all. But dammit if it didn't nearly crack me. :-P

yeesh! as if this week wasn't busy enough for you without a sick co-worker.

You know, one positive way to look at it is that at LEAST it's "good-busy". You're busy doing things that you really love (most of the time.)

Oh, I know. And it was so typical that she had to be sick THAT particular day!

And yeah, most of the time I do. :-) I just wish these kids weren't so intense and crazy, you know? :-P
