Working yesterday, on a Thursday, went surprisingly well... This is not so strange as it may first sound though. Because I was not working alone, for once. My boss / colleague was there as well. And as soon as she is there, the kids are if not angels, at least a great deal calmer. Even if we had to ask three kids to leave... :-/ *sigh* Had I asked them to, they wouldn't have so easily, but when my boss / colleague did, no problem. Bah.

She told me that when I talked to the kids, I had to show them that I really mean what I say. I think I do that. It is just not easy with the rules everyone has around kids these days. Scary thing is, working with these kids have almost made me lose hope in ever being able to have any authority with kids at all. Since, well.. They. Just. Don't. Listen. To. Me. :-/ And it is gawd damn frustrating.

Anyway, I have collected some stuff that I felt I wanted to share with you guys who might be reading this. :-)

Thanx to das_mervin, I found this site Badass of the Week... A very amusing site. The writer takes a character from myth, history, books or pop culture and then goes on to write how gawd damn badass that person is. And I must say this article really rocked. It is about St. Michael the Archangel... Oh yeah. He is pretty badass... Anyone who stomps the devil on his head after dealing him a series of whoop-ass is... ;-) Read it. *grin*

Then I found this really, really cute looking little game called LIMBO. Apparently your this little boy lost in the big scary woods... where the things that go bump in the night... really exists. Check out the trailer out, doesn't it look amazing? Like playing a piece of art. I would LOVE to try this game out! So gorgeous!

You have to think a lot more Xena and a lot less Rose when dealing with kids. With your length and the presence I've seen you project a couple of times, you could easily get the kids to shape up and listen. But your everyday persona is very sweet and nice and polite, and so is your voice, so maybe that's still a bit too close when you try to tell them off.

Straighten up, sharpen your voice, turn those steely blue eyes on them and snap. It'll work. :-)

*smirk* Right. Getting the evil Xena out... ;-) I'll try to. It isn't easy, when all you want to do is help them kids... :-P Sometimes having a big heart just puts me in trouble. *sigh*

Yeah... Those sextoys... I found myself sitting there at that listen thinking how the heck people might enjoy some of that stuff. Even had an interesting discussion over the list with hubby, who had some serious ew and ACK! moments when seeing the list. I wouldn't be surprised to see one or more of them in fanfics one day though. :-P

I hear you. :-) It is not that I dislike older kids, I do like them. :-) And when I worked at the other school-library, I had no problems really. It is just that there are soooo many troubled kids at this school it is mind-blowing. And hence, it is tougher to work there.

About the kids, I think the keyword is "time". After all, your boss has worked with those kids for years, right? As a newbie, they test you constantly. Kids always do that. Also, I´m with _devilcandy_ here; use your length. And look them in the eyes. Being 5 feet tall myself, I can´t use the former, but the latter works much better than you might think. Trust me!

Love the links. #17 on the sextoys site makes me think of a misplaced package we recieved at work once. Made the day, it did... *grin*

Yeah. Time. Time and focusing my inner Xena as _devilcandy_ suggested. :-) I also think that since there has been quite a bit of change there with first M working as an extra librarian, then S and then me... There isn't that much stability there. And I think them kids need that. Good thing they have my boss / colleague who does sooo much for them, geez... Trying to keep up with all the projects she got going is impossible. I do try, but yeah.... slightly impossible. I'll work on my steely stern gaze and using my length some more... *nods* :-) Promise!

#17 just reminds me of going to the gynaecologist.... :-P Never pleasant, and I can't see the sexy with that toy, seriously... :-P But I can imagine the amusement among your colleagues though. X-D
