This is KSena

Usually a friendly sort. Be nice to me, and I am nice to you. Here I ramble on about me, life, work and fandoms. I am a fan of Robin of Sherwood, Xena: Warrior Princess, Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tokio Hotel and Sons of Anarchy. I don't apologize for anything I write here. This is my mind. And you entered it. Welcome.

For those who wants to know, [livejournal.com profile] peting73 is healing very well, so no worries on that part. Still coughing, but not in pain. And he says he feels much better to. He'll stay home from work this week, then we'll see. :-) Thank you for all the comments and such on my last post. It made both of us smile.

Been dealing with mom, future mother in law and [livejournal.com profile] spicehobbit that all called today worried about [livejournal.com profile] peting73. It was fun talking to all of them, and they are all happy he is doing so much better. As am I, as you can imagine.

My cuddly man is not supposed to be sick! I am the sickly one in this relationship... At least I usually am. :-P

Been cheating with a chocolaty mudcake today, because we felt like we needed it. So there. :-P

Especially since things have been weird at the school library where I work this week as well. You know, since it wasn't enough with [livejournal.com profile] peting73 being sick.... *smirk*

Anyway, Monday when I was getting ready to go visit [livejournal.com profile] peting73 at the hospital and go home, just logging out... the fire-alarm at the school went off... Walking out, I reported that I was going home, so they wouldn't start looking for me in the buildings or anything... Two firetrucks, a smaller rescue department-car and a police car came rushing within minutes... (I am always impressed by these people, how quick they are.) Tuesday I found out it was a false alarm, so that was good.

Fast forward to today.

Started with a great group of kids that I tipped about books that you usually miss in the bookshelfs. They were great kids, listening to what I said, and asked good questions to. They were just around 8 years old. :-) So that was great! Then it was hella busy when we opened the library for the day, and that kept up for 1 or 2 hours... Then it all calmed down, and me and my boss / colleague went about our business preparing for groups of kids and cleaning up the library and so on... Until the phone called.

One of the staff asked if it was OK for the bigger kids (12 year olds) to have there class in the library? Was cool, since it was calm and all that.

When we found out the reason why though, not so cool.

Apparently one of the kids had started a fire in one of the restrooms outside there classroom... A teacher managed to put out the fire, but some of the kids had seen it and were a pretty shock up about it. Not to mention the stink of smoke in the rooms that made the other kids worry, and well... it wasn't nice to be in those rooms.

O.o

WTH! And this made both me and my boss / colleague kinda sad. The kid who did the dead (it hadn't been hard to figure out, since his clothes had smelled like smoke), he spends quite a good time in the library. 12 years old, and nearly as tall as me, he tries to act above his age, all cool and shit, but he is always nice and friendly towards us. And he loves books, and to sit and read in the library.

Then he does shit like this. And apparently not the first time either. Troubled home, bad company as friends... *shakes head* A cry for help, anyone?

The staff at the school are doing what they can, of course, and we welcome him to the library with open arms as well. Not to mention they have reported everything to the authorities. I just hope someone is able to help that kid...

*shakes head*

Jack and Sally love...

Very much a cry for help, yeah... :-/ I was just disappointed you know? Sure most of the kids at that school comes from troubled backgrounds, seeing the school as there safe place to be... Then why the hell put it on fire, eh? Makes no sense. I just hopes he gets help after this. :-P

I'm sorry, I didn't know your sweetie was sick. *pets* I've been sick all week, and the husband has been mildly sick for two weeks.

And as for that kid, holy God. It's always the ones who look most 'normal' outside who need help the most. :(

Yeah, I know. And there are A LOT of kids like that at that school. :-/ I just feel so sorry for them, you know? I wish I could do more, but I am just a librarian, so.... I do welcome all kids with open arms at the library though. :-P (As long as they behave, that is...)

Seems to be a thing going right now, there is a lot of people sick all over the place. :-P

Don't sell yourself short; you do a whole lot for them by listening to them, respecting them and providing a safe environment for them. <3

I'm STILL sick, dammit. But at least the sinus cold is gone - now it's just stuffiness. Bah.

Oh yeah, we definitely do try at least. So many troubled kids at that school, it is scary. :-/ Lots of immigrants not all of them even speaking swedish properly, which makes it tough to get used to this country and keep up with classes in a swedish school. 25 different languages are spoken at that school. Plus swedish. :-P

It has nothing to do with that actually (although thank you for the compliment...). Sweden takes a lot of immigrants from other countries, families fleeing from war, famine and persecution. Sweden hasn't been to war since WWI and WWII (although we didn't fight any of them, Sweden stayed neutral). So a lot off immigrants end up here. All cool, says I. But when they get here, with usually just there clothes on there back, they can't speak a word of swedish. And they don't know anything about the culture here. So it is usually a bit of a shock for them. Understandably. There kids speak to languages, naturally, since there parents can't speak swedish and have more trouble learning it then the kids. So the kids speak there mother tongue at home, and swedish at school. Plus have to deal with memories from there home-country... and depressed parents... etc, etc.... So it is no wonder that the kids are so troubled at school, really.

i actually had no idea sweden was such an immigration hub, but it makes sense now. deal with the same sort of situations in america too. props to them though... swedish seems like a really hard language to learn.

All of the Scandinavian countries are really. Both Norway and Denmark were taken over by the Nazis during WWII but apart from that we've stayed more or less neutral during modern history. Our countries are very stable, so I suppose that is why so many immigrants wants to go here. And we take in as many as we can. During WWII when some Danes in Danmark found out that the Nazis were going to round up all the Jews in Denmark, the fishermen both danes and swedes who knew each other well, worked together and sailed every single danish jew over to Sweden saving them all... That is pretty epic, isn't it? :-)
