Been working today, 6 hours. :-) Felt great. Got four more hours to do tomorrow. Got a shitload of stuff to do at the library during those hours... Hopefully I can fix it. I mean, how easy is it to construct a quiz walk for kids? No scratch that, three different kinds of quiz walks, since we are talking about all kids from pre-schoolers to 12-13 year olds... o.O That ended up on my plate. :-P And I have to finish it tomorrow. Phew. 10 questions each. I have finished off one set of questions, and half of the other. So... Not totally hopeless, but not easy, folks!
Anyway, face-palming so much over the Buffy-fandom right now. I have avoided posting about it in my LJ since I don't wanna appear a bad Spike fan and get all the "fame-fans" running over and kicking my ass verbally and then destroying my rep online. Well, you know how things like that go, don't you?
Then I got pissed off at myself. I always tell everyone else to write what the hell they want in there LJ's since yeah... Is is YOUR LJ, your corner of the interwebz. So now I am going to do the same. Come hell and highwater.
I like the Buffy and Angel comics. And I am a Spike and Drusilla-fan. Those two, and Angelus, are the best characters in the show closely followed by Xander. And still I like them comics. I do NOT see them as canon! The show ended when the last TV-episode aired, and thats that. But I still enjoy them. Doest that make me a bad fan? And especially a bad Spike fan, what with all the ravings about how wronged his character is? *shrug* If people wanna think that, then be my guest.
I fully expect this post to be spammed with people telling me what a terrible Spike-fan I am, since you know? That is the feeling you, random fans, give in the fandom these days. That your not allowed to speak freely about the comic. Especially if you happen to enjoy them and at the same time be a Spike-fan. Apparently to you, random fans, that is not doable. Well, let me tell you. It is.
And also, what are you talking about fandom wars? Come back when you have pissed off an actor so much, he closes down his website and stops using the interwebz.* Then we can talk.
Right. Just had to get that off my chest. If discussion starts in comments, PLEASE respect each others opinions!
Over and out.
* Did happen in the Xena-fandom. The character Joxer, a comic relief figure and fun guy played by Ted Raimi was hated by most of the fandom. There were tons of hate-sites and he got hate-mail to his site and what not... In the end Ted got sick and tired of hearing how much the character sucked he put down love and work into. It went so far that there were petitions sent that the character should just be killed off. In the end Ted closed down his site and in interviews said he didn't use the internets for anything else but business emails. THATS fandom-wars.

Date: 2010-04-15 08:24 am (UTC)Ah, Joxer. :-) I really and honestly liked him. He was a great comic relief. For the simple reason that even though he was damn clumsy, couldn't fight for shit and got himself and everyone else into to trouble all the time... he was, indeed, brave as a lion with a huge heart on his sleeve. :-) I think one of the reasons people disliked him so much was because he dared to be in love with Gabrielle! OMG! How can he? since you know she is Xena's destined true love. I think it gave more depth to his character. :-) So, no Joxer-hate from me. More like Joxer-love. ;-) Even played him in a couple of RPGs in forums! :-D

Date: 2010-04-15 12:58 pm (UTC)You know, I never realized that the love between X&G was anything but platonic, but then again, I was seven to ten when I first watched it. I think I remember most of the kids my age liking Joxer. It must have been the older fandom.

Date: 2010-04-15 09:19 pm (UTC)Yeah, I think it has to do with age. When I started to read stuff on the net, and join forums and all, there were a lot of discussions about the true love of Xena and Gabrielle. So, that got me to watch the show in a whole new light, I guess. :-)
