This is KSena

Usually a friendly sort. Be nice to me, and I am nice to you. Here I ramble on about me, life, work and fandoms. I am a fan of Robin of Sherwood, Xena: Warrior Princess, Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tokio Hotel and Sons of Anarchy. I don't apologize for anything I write here. This is my mind. And you entered it. Welcome.

Well, this had been an interesting day at work, yes. All the libraries here are to change the computer system at the libraries. (Current system is 20 years old.) The system that you use to lend/borrow books and use to return books with... So, all the books, yes all... will have to be re-marked, so to speak. Quite the feat. Today though, we got to see what the new system will look like. It looked pretty neat, I'd say. Windows-based and looking slightly like Google at times. Not a bad thing, I'd say. It means it is very easy. And it was. I haven't tried anything on it yet. None got to do that, but looking at it, it wasn't hard to figure out what the different functions were doing. In my world at least. The librarians that actually work in the library had... a bit more trouble understanding it. Yes, the middle-age is quite.. high. *cough* Once everyone gets used to it, and get to use it on a daily basis though, I think it will be great. :-)

One thing that disturbed me today though... Well, not disturbed me, but annoyed me. The librarian that is responsible to me, so to speak is a really great woman, but there are bits and pieces that disturb me. Like, she is never ever off work. Even when she is off work. She was in Turkey a while ago. On vacation. And while there, she not only lazed about, she also bought books in Turkish and bought cloth to use as table-cloths for the library and also some trinkets to make the story teller corner look more fun. For her own money. Hmmm... Also, today a teacher came to the library (an old member of the Sexmasters, whose nick I fail to remember right now), she asked me to pick out a book that she could read aloud to her class, preferably a detective-story for kids. Might add the kids are 10 years old or there about. No problem I said! And started to look around our shelfs. I found a few books, and went to "my" librarian and said, how about these? No one was good. They were to complicated for the kids, they wouldn't understand them etc... Me = shrug, and I go find a couple of other books. Same answer. I go find more books, less happy. This time, however, I happened upon books she apparently hadn't read. And so, she told me I had to read the books (two) first before we could give them to the teacher, and she would to... The teacher wants them tomorrow morning. o.O When I said that I had stuff to do today (partly lie), she said thats how a librarian's life is, you gotta read in the evening... OK. I do so not agree. Just because you work in a library don't mean you have to read every single book there is, or every single book that you give to people. Seriously. And your time off from work is YOUR TIME OFF FROM WORK, DAMMIT! *annoyed*

Celebrate autumn...

that last bit is pretty strange, and doesn't sound right to me (at least not in the US). This is why publishers put plot summaries on the books anyway.

Exactly. But I can see it in one way. You can't get the feel off how the language is in the book only from reading at the back off it. But! I read a page here and there to get a feeling for the book. Apparently that wasn't enough. :-/

Oh well.

isn't that what a blurb is for? sounds like she just wants to give you extra work.

Thats what I've been thinking to... but at the same time, she is always bringing books home with her to read, so I wonder...
