Well, yeah... It is a bit of a sacrilege to say you don't like The Ring Trilogy, isn't it? And to say you don't like them and STILL say you love fantasy? Well... that won't do, will it? Fuck that, I say.
I've lost count on how many times I've tried to re-read them books. I get one maybe two chapters in, and then I fall asleep. They are just so damn BORING! That Tolkien was a professor is... very clear, shall we say. :-P I ADORE the story, make no mistake. But to read 100-200 pages about food? Eh... No. Or 400-500 pages where people just walk? No. Just... *yawn* Wake me up when something actually happens?
I have read the Arn-books and really did enjoy them. All four, I read the sequel as well. But you can't seriously compare the language between those and the Ring books? I find the language in the Ring books dull, dry and boring, while the language in Arn are much more alive. :-P
So... :-) I fail as a librarian and nerd, now? :-P
