Humanoid-thoughts and other Tokio Hotel-stuff...
You have been warned. ;-)
I have listened to the Humanoid album a couple of times now, and... well, this is my thoughts on it. :-)
Thoughts on Humanoid Special Edition Deluxe
Noise - A slow rocker-song. Kinda the kind I like, so yes. Even though this is not my favorite on the album, it is definitely a good beginning off the album and... a good heir to Scream... ;-) The electronics isn't taking over in this one, but supports instead. Oh oh hoh! :-D
Darkside of the sun - Best song on the entire album, according to me. Guitar-riffs everywhere, heavy drums and Bill sounding his cocky self... Not to mention a very catchy melody mixed up with a little bit off a classical sound to (violins? not sure what...)... Here to the electronics only supports and don't take over.
Automatic - The single they released. And the one with the most pop and electronics in it. The most mainstream one. So yeah, I understand on one level why they choose it, but it is definitly not the strongest track on the album. Not bad still, but not the strongest. It is catchy and I'll definitly shake my booty to it at times. ;-) Do very much like Tom's guitar solo in it though. Sounds neat. :-)
World behind my wall - Very emo song. Very, very emo... But still kinda cute. Slow with a lovely melody. I foresee a lot of teen goth's crying there black eyeliners down with this. It is kinda... one off those... songs... Yeah. :-P Not my favorite. Liking the lyrics though, considering what kind of lives them boys been living since they were 15.
Humanoid - Title-track. And this one... Rocks! :-D This I like. My second favorite I think. Lots and lots of drums. Lots and lots off guitars. And a Bill with a very heavy dark voice (when he ain't up in those high notes)... Eh... Yes please, thank you! I approve like lots. :-D
Forever Now - A bit off a meh song. Not good. Not bad. It just is. A rock song with some... interesting sounds throw in for good measure. I like it, yes I do, but... Just as with Automatic, this isn't one of the strong tracks on the album to me.
Pain of Love - This oddly reminds me off Depach Mode. *laugh* It is a really nice track. Here to Bill throws in quite the dark heavy voice at places. He should do that much more often. It sounds damn good! And even though the electronics take over a bit at times, it still works.
Dogs Unleashed - This to! Boys, you been in a Depach Mode collection lately? *grins* Anyway. This one works quite nice to. Definitely a song for me in party-mode. It got a very addictive beat. *glares at Gustav* I like it quite a bit.
Human connect to human - Again with the beat. What did they do to Gustav, I wonder? Really neat little song. One of the stronger songs on the album. I really like this one. Here to they have kept it low with the electronics, it is there true, but as a support. A good balance. The lyrics are... somewhat interesting though. *cough* Damn, Bill! o.O
Alien - Oh, he is definitly hitting those high notes in this one. It is pretty good, catchy. I like that it isn't much electronics in this one either. A support, it only takes over at times, but more then that it stays in the background.
Phantomrider - A slow, and very nice song. I like it quite the bit. Also, the guitar-work from Tom and Georg is wonderful. :-) I highly approve.
Zoom into me - Surprisingly a song with the main instrument being... a piano. Apparently Tom not only rocks out on a guitar, but can also play the piano, so now fans are guessing that he is tickling the ivory in this song. Would be cool, but I am not holding my hopes. It is, however a very very nice song, with an almost haunting melody.
Love & Death - Here the electronics tend to take over a bit at times. To bad, since the song ain't that bad in itself. But yeah. Way to much electronics.
Hey You - Oh, this is also one of my favorites on the album! Oh yeah! The beat... THE BEAT! Gawdamn... Guitars, drums everywhere! I so very much love this one. One of the top three, easy. Bill definitively sounds cocky in this one, like he dares you with that dark heavy voice he throws in at times or something. :-D Yeah, this is a really neat song.
That Day - Time for a slow song again. Off the slow songs on the album, I must say I prefer this one. Yes, I do like music heavy on the guitars and drums. And this one is, but makes it slow and... well, romantic without making it fluffy, you know? I like it quite a bit.
Screamin' - And no, this is not a remake of there old hit Scream... And Bill's voice sounds really freaky in this song... I like it dammit! :-D Heavy guitars and drums they are really rocking out here. I approve so very much!
Final thoughts on the music: Bill's voice. Geez... Boy grew up. Only natural, I know. But yeah... He sounds great. Taking on those high-notes and having a much manlier (!) voice to. Yep. I highly approve. In fact the whole album gives a feel that they all have grown up. Yes, you can still hear it is Tokio Hotel if you compare it to there earlier albums, but it is like they walked into the studio, saw all the neat toys and went wild with it. Sure, it goes a bit emo here and there, but it isn't overdone.
Thoughts on extras: Well, I got three more songs on this album then if I had bought any off the other editions, Hey You, That Day and Screamin'. Since all three were quite awesome, I'd say the extra songs in and off them selfs were worth it. But they did also add an extra disc. A DVD, no less. So, what does it offer? A 3D Gallery from the set off the Automatic video. But I got none off those 3D-glasses! Oh noes! I bet they would look nicer with those on. Anyone got any? Not that many pictures and I have seen some before. Still. Kinda neat. There is a regular gallery to. From a promotion shot. And for once not only the twins at the center, but there are quite a few of Georg and Gustav as well. Yay! Really nice photos that I hadn't seen before. Like Tom changing clothes... *cough* There is also a karaoke area with the songs Automatic, Forever Now and Noise. So, not that much goodies, but hey... I bought this thing for the music, so I ain't complaining. :-)
The insanity of the life these boys are living. o.O Here, have a vid from MTV News when they were in Italy lately. If they didn't have there sense of humor, I would feel sorry for them. At least they act what they are, young boys/men, rough-housing it and teasing each other over drinks. :-)
