Eeee, that baptism gown! My grandma's photo albums had various babies wearing a similar style gown-- it was long and flowing, but it was a heavier fabric, maybe white, and had German cutwork-- there was an undergown too, or else it was put over what the baby was wearing. I don't know who originally made it but my grandma wore it and she was born in 1893. Catholic babies are baptized when they're still newborns as a rule and traditionally the baptism clothes were white. By the time I saw a baptism (my nephew in 1974), the only thing required to be white was a robe/blanket type thing worn over their clothes.
