Fevercramps...

This weekend I tell you. This freaking weekend... Geezes...

It started good enough. Stayed up late Friday and slept in on Saturday. Was lovely. Then we went shopping Alexandra and I. And once home I started preparing for the LARP that night, what with packing props and clothes and makeup and stuff. While I did that [livejournal.com profile] peting73 made dinner which we then ate. Alexandra had a soda, so she had that for dessert. Then I left to go to the LARP.

Normal LARP-Saturday. Nothing strange really.

Then I got a text from [livejournal.com profile] peting73 that Alexandra had thrown up, but she was fine and they'd dealt with it and she was now sleeping. His guess and mine to, was that she'd had to much soda. It has happened before.

Like 30 mins later I get a frantic call from him that Alexandra had violent cramps was burning up and he'd called emergency.

CUE PANIC!

So I got rid of the prosthic ears, weird contacts and props I had on, packed my stuff in record speed, grately helped by my sweet young LARP-friends, and rushed to the hospital. We got there about the same time, and man...

She was SO OUT OF IT. Geezes... I did not recognize my daughter. As soon as we moved her around (sometimes she wanted dad sometimes she wanted mom) there were jerks and spasms running through her little body and she saw things not there and she couldn't relax her spine, couldn't breath properly since her airways had cramped to and it was just... horrifying. My little girl...

The staff at the emergency room was WONDERFUL though! I have to say. So wonderful. We were soon moved to the kids emergency room and then got a room to sleep in, since they wanted to have her stay over night for observation. Which we did.

She'd started to cramp around 1:30am, and at 4am she was considerably better, not that much of them cramps and spasms anymore. I stayed with her at the hospital and she feel fast asleep, as did I as soon as I could see she was relaxed and breathing normally.

Slept until 8am when they checked on her and we got breakfast. They tested her some more and gave her meds since she still had a high fever, we called [livejournal.com profile] peting73 so he came to join us. But it was declining since she responded well to the meds. The doctor checked on her, and since Alexandra was back to her normal self, we got sent home.

After about 1 hour home, her fever rose again and fast. No cramps but she was not responding to the liquid fever killing med we have at home. She had refused food all day, still she threw up a few times. Not fun. Got the advice to her the kind of medication you take through your rectum. I have no idea what that is called in english, but it's the same meds, you just take it differently and it's good for little kids since they throw so eaisly and then lose the effect of whatever meds you take liquid.

So I ran off to buy that and fix food for me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73.

It took a bit for the meds to have an affect ("I don't want meds through the bum, mommy!"), but when it did, it really did. She was tired, but definitly back to her self again and the fever FINALLY went down to more normal levels.

She is sleeping calmly now, breathing good and is not even closely as hot as she was eariler today.

SUCH a relief! But man... Fuck. That was not a fun weekend. *sigh*

PS. Did I mention I've lost my voice as well???
