Aaaaaand the busy month of July continues....
This weekend we've been away to visit mom and to congratulate my oldest Uncle on his 60th birthday. He has lived at and taken care of the family farm his whole life, so he is a bit... strange... :-) But so, so kind and caring. Living alone with is dog and... I think 20-25 cows and some chicks.... My brother is there helping him A LOT and it is made clear that he will take over said farm when my Uncle can't take care of it anymore. I know he will, and do a good job of it to. Off all the cousins, my brother is the only one with the knowledge and will to do it.
Anyway, to celebrate my Uncle my brother and another relative had planned a little trip and a picnic. :-) Being very shy when it comes to hanging out with others socially, it was hard to figure out what to do, but then my brother and my relative found out that there is a tiny settlement of the Amish-people not far from where my Uncle lives (well, 15-20mins drive, but still). And since my Uncle is very interested in farming history... it was kinda perfect. So we went there, checked out their farm (you could pay to visit and they would give you a guided tour and show you how they worked). It was quite interesting. I am by no way a farm-girl, but I love history and to hear the history where the Amish came from, why they live the way they do... how they work on their farm, and why they do it a certain way? Well, it was all very VERY interesting. :-) Brother and Uncle was more interested in the more practical aspect of their farm, but in the end... we all got what we wanted. :-) Was quite awesome. So, if you are swedish you can check out the website they have: Arvidstorp. There are some nice photos there to! And they are VERY good with horses there, since they don't use any heavy machinery... I found this clip on YouTube from Arvidstorp, where they drive with SIX horses at the same time when harrowing a field during The Day of the Horse that they organized at the farm... DAMN impressive!
( Day of the Horse at Arvidstorp... )
So yesterday was a pretty cool day, and my Uncle was VERY happy and nearly in tears that we had all gathered around to give him a great day. :-) My brother and my other Uncle helped him take care of all his cows and animals all day too, so he could have a bit easier a day of of it as well. :-) Brilliant!
Today though I have been cleaning up a bit here in the apartment. On Tuesday my mom and brother and also
peting73s relatives are coming over since it is my birthday then.... So I figured it was a good idea to make sure the apartment looks sorta presentable. :-P It is going to be great though! :-) My brother hasn't been here on a visit in two years, so I can't wait to have him over. :-D We've done plans for food that will work for everyone to, since half off us eat LowCarbHighFat food and the other half does not... ;-) I think we have come to a fitting solution though. Tacos (if you don't want bread, you can just skip it) and then I found two desserts in my LowCarb cookbooks that looked seriously awesome that I'll be preparing after work tomorrow. :-) It all comes together JUST nicely. :-D
Also, do I write that badly? I posted about the Fallout LARP the other day, and I wrote a fic about my character. (Photos HERE. Fic HERE.) Yeah, yeah... It is in a locked post since my dear friend J asked me to, but everyone outside of Sweden should be able to access it (if you are friended to me that is). Or is my writing THAT bad? I only got one comment on it. :-/ I feel a bit embarrassed begging for comments, but I'd love to know how the writing is? :-P Since I am trying to improve and all...
Righto! Time for bed it is. Didn't get to bed until way to late last night since I was at the vampire-LARP once we'd gotten home from my Uncles birthday picnic... So I've been a bit exhausted today... It was worth it though! :-D I had so much fun, and Frida Wagner is now up to no good... unintentionally though! *lol*
