I know, I know... I've been away like woo... But there is a reason for it. Me and [livejournal.com profile] peting73 has redone our bedroom. Put up new wallpapers. To say it was needed would be an understatement. The cats has clawed so much on the walls there were barely any wallpapers left at places. They did this mostly when they were young, but have become much better at is now. In fact they haven't done it in a year or so... Instead they claw the doors. *face-palm*

And yes, we did it all ourselves. Ripping down all the wallpapers, filing in the cracks with spackling paste, getting glue on the wallpapers... setting them up and making sure the pattern fitted... The works. It wasn't easy. [livejournal.com profile] peting73 has done this three times before (once in the company of a professional) so he knows a little about what to do. Me? I have NEVER put up wallpapers before. I was nervous as hell before we got into this project, but we fixed it! We really did! :-D Got the patterns to match, the wallpapers are hanging straight. It is looking really nice, and the cats haven't shown ANY interest in the walls anymore. I'd call the whole thing a HUGE success! :-D

So. Here are the photos I took during this project. :-) (All photos are clickable for bigger.)

First. This is the reason WHY we needed new wallpapers... Because the cats had clawed such HUGE holes in our old ones.

Not so very nice locking, is it? :-P Hence we started on this journey.

Here we've just started to rip the old wallpapers off the walls... Just to discover that there are SIX layers of wallpapers on the walls in total... SIX!!! o.O At first we figured we'd just rip off the outer layer, but then [livejournal.com profile] peting73 said screw it and decided to rip them all off... This proved to take some time...

More wallpaper ripping... It wasn't easy digging through all them layers, and I had to buy a certian wallpaper removal that soaked the wallpapers and made it easier to rip down... It still took long. I've been so fucking impressed by [livejournal.com profile] peting73 this week. He's been working his ass off! (Not that said ass is that huge to start with, although mighty sexy.... ;-) )

Finally... we we're done. Yes, I helped to rip down wallpapers to. It wasn't fun. Like at all. But I did. Although [livejournal.com profile] peting73 probably did 90% of the work. Six layers of wallpapers means A LOT of trash... In fact, 5 HUGE black trash bags full of it... Insane.

Last thing before the wallpapers could go up was to fill all the cracks and holes and such with spackling paste (thats the white patches on the walls). Verdandi, our cat, of course had to check out the progress. Our dear cats have been somewhat stressed during this week, since the apartment hasn't been 'normal'. And they haven't been allowed to come in the bedroom until we had ripped all the wallpapers down.

Then yesterday, Saturday, we finally got all the wallpapers up! It looks fucking epic, if you ask me. We managed to make sure the pattern fitted everywhere, even though none of us had done any pattern-fitting before. And me? I had never ever in my life put up wallpapers before! I took care of spreading the glue on the wallpapers, since at least that I got how to do. *lol*

A close up of the wallpapers... Not that very good, but at least you can see the pattern, I hope.

Aaaand lastly today we put back all the furniture and everything... YAY! New pretty bedroom. :-D I even got my inner geeky librarian out to play and put all the books in order. ;-) Since I can do that now a days... When we cleaned out the bookshelfs I think we threw away more then a third of our books... :-P But we are happy and very proud of our work. Me? I am mostly impressed by [livejournal.com profile] peting73. He has, again, proved his awesomeness. I love that man! :-D

Flowers and time ...
