This is KSena

Usually a friendly sort. Be nice to me, and I am nice to you. Here I ramble on about me, life, work and fandoms. I am a fan of Robin of Sherwood, Xena: Warrior Princess, Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tokio Hotel and Sons of Anarchy. I don't apologize for anything I write here. This is my mind. And you entered it. Welcome.

I will lose weight on this....

Today I have been riding my bike back and forth between two libraries. I start my day at one. And apparently it all consists of meetings. Two hours. Then back to the school library for two hours and another meeting. And then back to the first library again for two more hours. Then home. Yeah. :-P But it was fun, none the less. All off them librarians have been very nice to me and we have had some interesting discussions today, that really made me think.

We started to talk about a book (I forgot what it is called now) that they had to stop kids from reading. This boggled my mind, I don't wanna censure kids from books. But when they told me what the book was about, I started to think about it...

The book was about a teenaged girl. Being raped by a group of boys... Yes. Not one, but a group. The librarians had read this book, and said it was very raw and described the event as terrible and how the girl got back on her feet again, and it ended on a good note. The writer had the right idea, trying to show what to do when something terrible happens to you.

But... Kids that really was far to young to read this book, that were only 11 or 12 years old... read it and thought it was cool. The book is meant for older teens, but it still stands among the books marked for teens/young adults. And you are a teen/young adult from the age off 12/13 until 19... That is a big age-gap. The younger teens read this book thinking it is a cool book, not seeing the horror in it. :-/ So yeah... I can understand them librarians not wanting to let younger girls and boys borrow this book. I think I want to read it to see what it is all about.

So. I created a poll. :-) It might not make perfect sense, but the discussions today sure made me think. What do you think?
